Passing through Lewiston, the whole town is a bit of an experience. One of the most pivotal points on the Lewis and Clark expedition, this formerly beautiful valley is now a papermill industry town, with the air and landscape befouled by manufacturing and mining (I'm being literal - the air stinks and old-school mining companies dug holes, piled up rocks and then moved to the next hole). Maybe the city managers have lost so many battles to put a polish on this historic gem of a location, they have just given up.

Given the environment, none of which is the fault of Rooster's Landing of course, Rooster's Landing was a nice experience. The service was friendly, attentive and down home -- our waitress was Megan and was a pleasure, making jokes and keeping us watered, wined and well fed.

The service deserves 4 stars -- Lewiston deserves 1 star -- but rating 4 stars none the less because the steak was prepared as requested, the steak was very good, and the cheesecake was home cooked by owner. Great job to Megan, who really was helpful and great.

This restaurant is almost like the Idaho version of Joe's Crab Shack. It is themed and decorated.  However, because its in Idaho its a little more low key.  Our large group was easily accommodate and the waitress was awesome.  She brought us a ton of water without us pestering her and got all of our orders right.  We even got fast delivery emergency french fries during the meal.
Try the Hot Crab Cheese dip.  Its amazing.

Food- Ok, Location- On the river with available outside seating, Good menu selection including beer selections.  Our fries seemed stale and luke warm.  Inside of restaurant was nice with many things to look at including plenty of fish tanks.

Conclusion- We would go back if we were not very hungry and wanted a few drinks outside on the river.

    Location:

When it comes to a great location, Roosters Landing is right on the river front behind Walmart and next to Costco. Not only will you get a great view of the boats going back and forth, but often sitting on the deck provides the perfect environment to visit with friends and listen to music.

    Food:

There is a large variety of food options ranging from seafood dishes to salads to hamburgers. For the smaller appetites, minnow options are available, which is great for healthy options. Vegetarian options are also offered.

Although I am a huge fan of the fish tacos, which taste great, most food items do not give a wow factor for the price. I am often disappointed with the main meals, but the appetizers are very good.

    Drinks:

The drink selection though overcomes the food quality! From local beer and wines to mixed drinks like the Gnarly Lemonade, there is a large variety to choose from to accompany the meal or to sit back and relax with.

    Sitting Area:

I find the bar area the best place to sit as you don't have to wait for a table and the TVs are in good positions.

    Service:

The service can be slow, but the staff is always very friendly!

    Overall:

Roosters Landing is a family favorite, but as the years go on I find that I am drawn to the environment of Roosters Landing more then the food. Roosters Landing would be perfect for that once in a while place when family locals come back into town or even when live music  is being played on the deck. The drink selection is great, but the food is just ok.

Always have a great time here. Catch a band on Friday or Saturdays on their deck over looking the river with spectacular sunset and valley views. Rotating micro brews and great staff, Natalie is my favorite always with a smile and great service!

It was definatly didn't choose it and wont again.short of having some ok crumb cake like concoction the burger was undercooked and rather fatty. Their menu left a lot to be desired, almost everything they had on their poorly designed menu had peperjack cheese on it or was fried/contained something fried in it(even the salids)

When our family's favorite pizza place ended up being closed on the day after Christmas, we had to quickly improvise and ended up here. I was pretty grumpy about it, since I was really craving some sauerkraut pizza (sounds nasty, but trust me, it's heaven). But I grudgingly have to give this place my approval.

Even though the parking lot was packed, there was still plenty of room for our party of 25+. They even gave us our own little room. The server was great; even though all of us kept playing musical chairs, he was able to get the right food to the right people and didn't appear at all fazed by the kids running around all chaotic-like.

The menu is quite extensive, from sandwiches and salads to pasta, seafood, and steak. I had the chicken fingers, which may have been the best I've ever had--heavy on the chicken, light on the grease, and the crispiest coating ever. After overdosing on food on Christmas, I opted for a salad instead of potato wedges, and even though the tomatoes were a little past their prime, it was a good choice.

Part of me hopes that I'll never come back here, since that would mean that yet again the pizza place is closed. But if that nightmare ever happens again, this is a good backup plan.

Ok, I just bumped up my review of this place.  The kids menu is incredible, the most expensive thing is $4!  Quite a bit for kids, too.  The food overall is pretty good (although I think they charge a bit too much for it), the service was about average, the appetizer and dessert we had were both really good.  So, just BARELY enough to tip this into the 4 star range.

I'd really like to give this place 3.5 stars.  I'll give it 4 stars in the summer for sure because I love the outside seating with the view of the Snake River. Last weekend we were able to view carp and bass swimming around the boat landing.

The food is good, not thrilling. My favorite dish for years has been the hot seafood salad, but like with most things, it's not as good as it was when it was first introduced. The scallops are smaller.. or are there even scallops on it anymore?  Last tried the halibut wrap, which was fine. The potato wedges, I must say, are spectacular.  The restaurant had a number of desserts that were good, but nothing that wowed the taste buds.  The staff is very friendly and accommodating.

I'd recommend Rooster's to folks looking for a casual seafood dining experience. Again, the outdoor weather and view from the deck make up for any shortcomings one may experience in other areas.

Great place to enjoy a nice view of the Snake River while enjoying dinner among good company on a nice sunny afternoon following a round of golf.  I should know.  That's exactly what I did.

I recommend either the Smashed Turkey sandwich or the Fish 'n Chips.

One side note: Take one of your potato wedges and launch it into the water below the deck.  It will surely instigate a carp battle royale.
