Route 62 Barbeque

Good BBQ is incredibly rare in the central Ohio area. Finding Route 62 is a very pleasant surprise because it is very, very good BBQ! The ribs were delicious; nice char yet fall-off-the-bone tender with a delicious smoke. The beef brisket was also incredibly tender and delicious.

This is a great place that is worth seeking out if you are looking for great BBQ where very few exists!

I'm always on the elusive quest to find good barbecue in central Ohio.  So far, Ray Ray's is the only one that truly satisfies my craving.  However, if Route 62 Barbeque was closer to me, Ray Ray's might be getting some serious competition!  

I'd heard a lot of good things about this place and was super excited to finally try it earlier this month.  I called in a pickup order on a Friday night but was disappointed to learn that they were already out of baby back ribs, my go to order at any barbecue place.  As several reviews indicate, once the restaurant runs out of an item, they do not remake it.

Undaunted, I tried again Sunday afternoon.  This time, the gentleman and I decided to go in and eat at the restaurant.  It's a tiny place with about only five tables, but it's immaculately clean (including the bathroom, yay!).  We ordered a rack of baby back ribs, two sides (collard greens and baked beans), and two cornbread muffins.  Some excellent barbecue sauces are available at a help-yourself condiment table, including a very amazing spicy one.  Every table also has a large squirt bottle of the restaurant's regular barbecue sauce (very good).  

Our order arrived pretty promptly.  After dousing my ribs in the spicy barbecue sauce I was overjoyed to find that the ribs were super moist and flavorful even though they have a nice, crispy bark.  On a good hungry day, a person can easily polish off a whole order of the baby back ribs.  Consequently, we ordered another rack of baby back ribs almost immediately.  Our accompanying baked beans were good, but the collard greens were stellar.  They were piping hot, mustardy, with a nice heaty finish.  Most excellent!  As evidenced by my review, I really can't stop thinking about the amazing ribs and am counting down the days till I go back!

One word.  Awesome!!
