Didn't really know what to expect based on the reviews but it turned out to be okay... The ambient is old-stylish but friendly, restrooms are clean. With every entree come the soup and salad from the bar. The "almost famous (beef) vegetable soup" was really good - very lightly salted but very flavorful. In contrary to other reviews, the salad bar did not impress me at all. Not by variety nor by flavor. The sirloin steak was okay but the baked sweet potato seemed a bit beaten up. Too bad we didn't have room for dessert because the selection was tempting - homemade peanut butter pie, pumpkin cheesecake, Kentucky silk pie (or sth like that)....

Not quite the steakhouse you think of when you think of steak. More of a family restaurant that focuses on steaks. Overall the experience was good but I've had better steaks at home.

We decided to stay in Cave City after a trip to Mammoth Cave. We didn't really know what to expect, but I think we would have made the drive to Bowling Green if we did. Cave City is kind of rough. The only thing it has to offer are a dozen or so run down tourist traps.  Starving after making the drive from STL and seeing the cave with our 3 year old, we checked into the hotel and asked about a good place to eat in the area.  The girl at the front desk really didn't have any recommendations, so we went to yelp and google.  This is what we settled on.  We were the only people in the restaurant the entire time we ate.  (We got there around 8pm on a Wednesday).  Niether my husband nor I could bring ourselves to attempt a steak, so I just had the soup and salad bar and he got a burger with the salad bar.  Everything on the salad bar was pretty basic; iceberg lettuce, one type of cheese, rach dressing, etc.  The tomatoes looked pretty gross.  (See through tomatoes should never make it on any plate in any restaurant) Regardless, it was a fine enough salad. The soup was ok.  My husband's burger was pretty good, but a little small and the fries were frozen crinkle cut, not steak fries.  Service was ok, our server was sweet.  Check came up to about 25 dollars with our two iced teas, a little high for what we had.
To sum it up, don't stay in Cave City. But if you must and you don't want fast food, this seems to be the only decent place to go.
