The Beer was good, but I can't say the same for the food. I had the BBQ Chicken Quesadilla and it was too cheesy, greasy and not crispy at all. The chips it came with were greasy as well. My husband chose the Prime Rib Sandwich. The description said it was to have Cajun seasoning and served on a roll. It was very bland and when they say served on a roll they mean only a roll. He did like his fries. I guess we can say been there, tried that and most likely not going back.
Review Source:Let me preface this post with a statement.. I liked the Penny. Having said that this has all the things I liked about the Penny (the staff, the selection and the location) BUT.. now has every sporting event I could possible want. Not to mention 10+ new HD TV's.
They added a few items to the menu i really like such as the Buffalo Chicken sandwich, but kept some amazing classics like the french dip.
All in all, I will be spending MANY Saturdays (OU football) And Sundays (Minn Vikings) at the The Tavern!
Went in to get some drinks with my family and the bartender was ok. She made us drinks but she was just ok. We didn't have any food but the guy that was already sitting at the bar ordered a pizza that the bartender said it was a top favorite and when it came out, looked like a frozen pizza. I wish I could of taken a picture of the look on his face. When this place was the Penny, the food was good and the presentation was on point but maybe the new menu isn't going to live up to the hype but I might go in again and try the food to really gauge how it has changed.
