Sally's BARn

Sally passed away a couple of years ago, but her namesake bar is still going strong.  The first time I went here was in 2010, but I understand it's been a neighborhood staple for years.

This is not an upscale place, but it is a fun place.  The bar staff is quick with a friendly word, and even the regulars who always line the bar don't seem to much mind the intrusion of "outsiders"; they are also easy to engage.  

To me, Sally's real draw is its shuffleboard table.  The table makes it a great place to hang out with friends.  Another plus, the staff don't mind if you bring your own board games to play.

Sally's is an old Barn and landmark in the Union Lake area for decades.  My last visit to Sally's had to be in the late seventies and she ran a rather different bar, almost a private club, where outsiders felt as welcome as the flu.  

Well I understand Sally had passed away about a year ago and someone has come in and renovated the whole place and made it a very nice welcoming bar with a good bar staff.  They still have the regulars to some extent but you need them to pay the bills.

The seating area is a mix of high tops and low tables with a couple lounge chairs at the fireplace. The decor of the place is library paneled and has a full length shuffleboard table and quite a few flat panel TV's around as well.  Very cool place to relax and hang with friends.

P.S.-Not much of a food selection though and opens at 4:PM and has a well used covered smoking patio!
