Sally passed away a couple of years ago, but her namesake bar is still going strong. Â The first time I went here was in 2010, but I understand it's been a neighborhood staple for years.
This is not an upscale place, but it is a fun place. Â The bar staff is quick with a friendly word, and even the regulars who always line the bar don't seem to much mind the intrusion of "outsiders"; they are also easy to engage. Â
To me, Sally's real draw is its shuffleboard table. Â The table makes it a great place to hang out with friends. Â Another plus, the staff don't mind if you bring your own board games to play.
Sally's is an old Barn and landmark in the Union Lake area for decades. Â My last visit to Sally's had to be in the late seventies and she ran a rather different bar, almost a private club, where outsiders felt as welcome as the flu. Â
Well I understand Sally had passed away about a year ago and someone has come in and renovated the whole place and made it a very nice welcoming bar with a good bar staff. Â They still have the regulars to some extent but you need them to pay the bills.
The seating area is a mix of high tops and low tables with a couple lounge chairs at the fireplace. The decor of the place is library paneled and has a full length shuffleboard table and quite a few flat panel TV's around as well. Â Very cool place to relax and hang with friends.
P.S.-Not much of a food selection though and opens at 4:PM and has a well used covered smoking patio!
