Every year my family and I travel to North Conway and make it a point to go to the scarecrow. The service isn't the best but the food is amazing. The food and prices are great. Especially the poutine a.k.a. Â French Canadian fries. French fries, cheese curds, and mushroom gravy can do no wrong.
Review Source:I recently visited the scarecrow..food was awesome prices were very very reasonable...the only complaint I have is with the service...We had Monica as our waitress..we were there approx 20 minutes till she came to our table..only to be told that she only has 1 minute for us!!..I mean seriously! 1 minute what kind of customer service is that?..very very rude!!
Review Source:I love the Scarecrow! It's a really cute restaurant I like how it's nice and dark inside it makes for a better experience I think. Â It's nothing fancy but the food is great. Last time I went I had the Italian sub and it was ridiculously good. I recommend this place when you want good quality food without getting too dressed up.
Review Source:I never use Yelp, nor any other food review site, but I felt it was very necessary for me to do so after spending almost 150 dollars at Scarecrow's tonight. Upon entering the Pub, I felt an immediate discomfort and unwelcomeness. It was an awkward stand-around as we waited to be seated but we eventually found ourselves to a seat. There were 7 of us, but the pub was nearly empty. The waitress (who, might I add never gave us her name) let us know from the start that they were very busy and implied that she didn't want us there at all. The waitress was covered in sweat, so we figured she needed a break and that it was most probably just a busy day. We didn't get bread to start off until we asked for it (a half an hour later) our appetizer was bland, and we were not served our meals until we had been there for over an hour. She kept disappearing in half-hour shifts, and it was clear that she was not busy. She made it a point to vent to us about her exhaustion and at one point bent over, clenched her knees and took a breather. It saddened us to see us putting a woman through so much agony. We almost felt bad, but due to her poor customer service skills, we had little sympathy. The manager gave us an uneasy feeling as he did not give us the time of the day. He did not say hello or goodbye to our group, but gave joyous greetings to familiar locals. Not a good place to go out to eat when visiting the White Mountains for vacation. Off of the waitress subject, our pasta was very overcooked, the fries were not a joy to eat, and my Ginger Ale was flat and contained about 70% water. I will not be returning to this restaurant in the future, and I recommend you don't either. There are some great food choices in the area; This is surely not one of them. Save your money.
Review Source:My boyfriends family has a place in North Conway so when we make the trip up we always try to stop in at the scarecrow. If you're going to get an app you MUST get the buffalo wings, they are the perfect wings, the best i have ever had. I always get the tuna melt which is to die for and their french fries which are also the best fries i have ever had, come along with it. The burgers are also perfect and can be cooked to order. If you're going to get dessert and are there during the summertime the lemon murang is a MUST also, i always get it when they have it available. If you are more an ice cream person they serve a hot fudge brownie sundae, the brownie is nice and hot which matches perfect with the whip cream and cold ice cream on top. What you order from the crow you CANT go wrong, everything on the menu is delicious. If you are ever in the White Mt's region of NH you gotta stop in at scarecrow.
Review Source:We needed a cheap, quickie meal after a day of skiing at Tuckerman Ravine and stopped here. The food (prime rib special for my husband, lamb tips for me) satisfied -- not gourmet, but a good value. The people were nice. However, we were sitting right under a wall on which dozens of scarecrow dolls had been stapled, and frankly, they looked dusty and grimy... like they had been hanging there for 20 years. Gross.
Review Source:I visited this pub recently. It was by far the worse meal of my trip but there was one stand out aspect to meal. The French Onion soup was excellent. Just giving credit where credit is due. The rest of the meal was sub par. Greasy fries - especially their "signature" buffalo fries and the marinara sauce (with chunks of green pepper - don't see that every day) was bland. I scraped it off to get to the rest of the dish.) Very disappointing. The service as also unacceptable (though a neighboring table seemed to fair better which mimics other reviews here - hit or miss). Â I will not visit again unless to get some of the soup to go.
Review Source:The Scarecrow is an excellent carbo-loading locale for those who choose to run the Mt. Washington Road Race. Â Its carbs taste even better when you and fellow runners/volunteers get lost on the way there, dreaming of lasagna as you accidentally start heading up a mountain behind a creepy lumber truck. Â
Due to the creepy lumber truck incident, my group got to the Scarecrow later than the rest of our running club on Friday night, and were pleasantly surprised by the quickness with which the following appeared:
-Crab squares (5 stars): crab topped with cheese on an English muffin and broiled. Â Oddly, they were sectors, not squares.
-Chicken teriyaki with rice pilaf
-Lasagna (4.5 stars): super flavorful and enough to feed three people. Â I approve for future carbo-loading, and would *maybe* run Mt. Washington again because lasagna precedes it.
-Bill's Mixed Grill (steak tips, sausage, something else carnivorous) with pickled beets
-Ziti with meatballs
I also dug the atmosphere, noise level, and decorations.
Every year we go to the Scarecrow several times..I'm super disappointed with the quality of food I experienced this past Sept. Â It was horrible. Â I'm giving it three stars because of experiences I have had before have been alright..
But, this last time was not good! Â I had baked ziti (and my niece did, too) Â and it was just over cooked and the sauce had no flavor! Â We both thought it was horrible! Â My husband had an italian sub sandwich. Â He said that it was just alright. Â
My Mom got the Lamb and she had to send it back it was so raw. Â I'm not too sure what's going on with this place..and it definitely was not because the place was busy..there were about 15 people in there and 10 of them were our party! Â
The best bet is their buffalo french fries..they are pretty good..The regular fries are also good. Â The soda's we got were also flat...
The decor in this place is really cute..it's all Scarecrows and a really "fallish" feel..I think it's pretty cool..There's scarecrows outside, too. Â
They never use to take credit cards, but they finally do now..The meals are pretty reasonable..around 5-12ish dollars...
I'll be going back again soon..I'll definitely do another review!
