As others have stated, we were pleased to see a new breakfast spot on Rt 9 open. It would handle the overflow of The Stables and the Route 9 Diner. Sadly though this place isn't on par with the others. My mother and I have eaten here four times on weekend mornings with the same predicable results. We would have gone elsewhere if the lines at the other spots hadn't been out the door.
The wait time at The Sisters from ordering to eating is unreasonably long. The breakfast fare is just ok with the exception of VERY underdone sausage and bacon. The portions are unusually small and unrealistic for a grown adult man.The chairs are uncomfortable and the walls are devoid of artwork. The whole place seems hastily opened. It all just appears unfinished. There is no warmth here from the surroundings to the staff. I would recommend eating elsewhere either at Sylvester's in Noho or The Stables further down on nine. This is the sort of place one will go once but likely not return to. Also and for the record, the young hostess that we've seen when eating there is very snobby and sullen. Bad vibes.
I'm really sad to say that this place has missed the mark. Â I watched it go up and was excited that a new farm to table restaurant was going to open in the valley. Â I stopped in the other day for lunch and thought the shop was cute, if sparsely stocked. Â The focus on local products was great, and the layout was pleasant. Â However, the restaurant experience was not good at all. Â
There was no host, nor was there a sign saying to seat ourselves. Â A person came from behind the bakery to give us a menu, which was different than the one posted on the wall for some reason. Â She did not, however, offer to seat us of tell us to sit down. Â Finally we flagged down a server, who seated us in the sunny bar area. Â We ordered from a very nice server. I ordered wings, which were purportedly smoked in house and fried naked. Â My wife ordered bison chili, which, given the location, should have been a house specialty.
The wings arrived naked, alright. Â They were served with barbecue sauce on the side, and celery and carrot sticks. Â There was no blue cheese dressing, though. Â And instead of tasting smoky, the wings tasted bland. They were not crisp at all, but were sticky with chewy skin. Â It was as if the fryer oil was not nearly hot enough. Â The chicken itself appeared to be very good quality, sadly ruined by the kitchen. Â
The chili was also bland, and tasted more italian than southwestern. Â A thick layer of cheese, purportedly cheddar but resembling mozzarella, made us think of lasagna.
This restaurant has a great concept, but really lacks in execution. Â The owner desperately needs to hire a good executive chef to reimagine the menu and recreate some recipes. Â Based on my experience and the other reviews on here, if that doesn't happen, and soon, this place won't last.
I order a soup and salad, same as my friend. Was expecting the portions to be meal sized based on the price. Not only did it take way too long to prepare two bowls of soup and two salads, they were also so small. Over priced, small portions that take too long to prepare. Disappointed.
