Shady Shack Grill

What a terrific surprise, read the previous reviews and went anyway -- waited 20 mins for food, 4 of us, server attentive kept refilling drinks and getting beers.  Food terrific, burger, grouper sandwich, sliced chicken and avocado, chicken tenders all good and amazing sunset viewing spot and CORNHOLE  -- great evening!  Thanks all!

This is a difficult review for me to write.  I really like Poplar Creek Marine and all the people that work there.  Lots of friends work there so I'm torn.  I'm hoping that I can come back at some point and revise this review from 2 stars but right now this is a much as I can do.

The food is really quite good, if you can EVER get it.  The service is beyond slow.  I was there a couple of Sundays ago and it took 2 hours to get a couple of cheeseburgers with fries.  Yes, I know they were short-staffed that day.  They kept saying that but TWO HOURS?  

An entire table of 8 just ahead of us simply got up and walked out.  They'd been there far too long as well.  I really want Shady Shack to thrive but something has to change here.  I know I'm reluctant to go back.  I believe a lot of other people are as well.

Hopefully they'll turn it around and I can come back with a better review.  Until then, it's a cool bar with cold beer and good food, but don't be in anything that even resembles a hurry when you get there.

This has all the makings of a great waterfront bar. Unfortunately, servers need more training, they were gossipy and the food (burgers and wings) took 1.5 hours to come out!  We lost valuable afternoon sun waiting for this food. Another table got up after an hour wait and politely left. The bartender was offended and started carrying on about the customers. Then the cook came out and made a scene.  Then our food came out at least a half hour after that.  Asked for our food at least three times.  Food was decent so gave it two stars to be nice,  but the staff needs a good manager.
