Great bar whether you live in the neighborhood, or not. Â I've been coming here for about 10 years and have seen a lot of changes over that time. Â A large portion of Sacramento natives have grown up (I know, it's a scary idea) in Shakers, but sadly moved on over the years. Â This is still a great place to go get a good drink, hang out, and meet some colorful people that will act like they've known you for years. Â Jaime is one of the original owners and works his ass off to make sure everyone has a great time. Â
Shakers is good when it's slow and great when it's packed, but give it a shot either way and join the family. Â Just remember that the drinks are strong and the Citrus Heights Police need more revenue, so plan ahead and grab a cab for $20. Â It's cheaper than $10,000 for a DUI.
I would never have ended up at this place if it wasn't for the cool people I met. I'm an Asian guy. This place is basically a place for white people. I'm not being racist or anything...just telling the facts. It's a small bar in Citrus Heights...it's like a noodle house on Stockton Blvd...place for Asian people. So please don't judge me while I judge this place.
I like this place. I came here on two occasions because of two people (who are white) asked me to go here after an event we all attended.
Drinks/Bartender: Drinks are drinks...but it was cheap so it is a positive. The bartender here was really cool. Chill guy but still you know you don't want to mess with him.
Environment: Place has a fireplace, but don't think it works. Jukebox...cool because you can play your songs you like...very low on the Hip-Hop/R&B/Rap selection though...just saying. Two pool tables. Place is very chill. Well I went twice on and on Sundays.
Final Verdict: Place is cool. Relaxing and I would only go here again if my white friends take me here. No lie. But everyone else, feel free to check this place out.
Actually Angelica, there are two pool tables ^_^
Let's just say that Angel and I, along with many other friends have found our bar. Â Jamie, is a super friendly bartender and he always made our visits memorable, whether we were there randomly or for a special occasion!
"Where do I put the shells to the peanuts?" - Me
"Just throw it on the floor!" - Jamie
"But I'm OCD... oh what the hell!" - Me
Yes be prepared to step on a bunch of peanut shells, which of course are pretty good and addicting to eat!
I must also mention that this place has decent drink specials! Â Last I checked there were 2 for $10 Vodka Red Bulls or Jager Bombs, and $4 Long Islands.
I quite like this place :-)
Very fun place to be whether your new or had a messed up day.
They have lot's of interested drinks to taste and games to play:
1. I ordered a mystery shot
2.Tried a pussy platter that contains Kahlua shot
3.Pool table
4. index card with a list of alcohol beverages
5.Tasted the best bar nuts ever that you can throw on the floor.
This place deserves a five star and going back there soon!
Of course this is one of our regular jaunts. Â Enough said about the peanuts..right? Â Has anyone noticed that Loree's, Shakers, The Black Stallion all look alike on the inside? Â I forget which it was, same owner and designer, or just same designer..anyhow, great place, great drinks, has a couple pool tables, decent selection on the juke, and just across the street from On the Rocks..The day crowd is friendly, the night a bit rowdier, depending on the mood - and the big plus is they are biker friendly.
Review Source:A neighborhood bar with red leather and red velvet booths, and ...
BONUS: Â Bar stools with backs! Â :-) Â :-)
They've got a jukebox, and in a second, more open room to the right, are pool tables, shuffleboard and a fireplace, which I liked. Â
A couple of pizzas were delivered to a customer as I munched on some of the free peanuts served in plastic cups along the bar. Â Love places that encourage peanut shell droppings on the floor.
Problem is, the acoustics. Â The ceiling is really low. Â So, you get a couple of guys whose voices are at the highest volume usually reserved for concerts and you want to bail.
This is a great spot to hang out with the friends and get plenty of drinks for, I'd say, decent prices.
The atmosphere is incredibly cool. The owner/bartender Jaime rocks!! I'm sitting with my friends mindlessly cracking away at the salted peanuts they offer and he comes up to me and asks, "Do you drive a silver car?" Why I couldn't comprehend the question at first could be one of two things. . .
1)the deafening sounds of live music going on in the background  OR
2)the headache that was coming on from the combination of the beer (which was my favorite and had on tap) and nuts. . .
Whatever the case it was I immediately stood up and walked out of the place with Jaime to see if there was any major
damage as a result of some idiot pulling out of the lot recklessly. I was seriously thinking, "this can't be happening especially on a night like this. . . ."
. . . . The car is still in one piece. . . Just a few scuffs and scrapes from the other car and the already done damage from a previous accident. I'm all gravy and told Jaime that it was alright. As long as it's still in one piece and gets my friends and I from one place to another as well as safely (I was DD that night) it was fine. (They did have that whole matter on camera but they were unable to capture the license plate.) He was incredibly surprised on how I took the whole situation in. If it was any worse, it would be a whole different story!!
Nevertheless despite that one little glitch of the night this place is great. Definitely recommended.
This is such a great place to go during the week to drink a few beers and play pool with friends. Â Thursday and Sunday nights are packed and are a lot of fun. Those nights are when the the djs come in and it is dance night. Â That would be better if the slutty girls would get out of there. Â But anyways..... You just have to love a place that has a vibrating bar top.
