My boyfriend and I were looking for a good local place to watch the hockey game and after checking out Yelp, I found Shakers. We stopped by around 8pm to watch the game, have a couple of beers and eat.
Shakers has THE BEST seating area around with big comfy leather couches, ottomans, tables and fans in front of big screen TV's. We were greeted by a very sweet bartender/waitress named Brittany (sorry if I spelled it wrong) who very nicely described the different beers on tap for my boyfriend and also put the hockey game on both of the TV's in front of us.
We each ordered burgers and beers and we ended up staying until almost 2am when they were closing. The burgers were great, the beers were cold, the entire bar/restaurant was comfortable and there is also an outside area to hang out or smoke. Â
I would recommend this place to anyone of any age. Whether you're with friends, co-workers, family or on a date...this place is great.
Boyfriend was in the mood for burgers on a Saturday afternoon and I wasn't wanting to eat at the 'Guys...wanted something different. Â Hopped on Yelp to scope out a new place to try when I stumbled upon Shakers. Â After several people labeling their burgers as the "best they ever had", I HAD to give it a shot.
Man, am I ever so grateful I gave this place a shot. Â I remember past incarnations of this bar but never imagined I would go there for such a juicy, flavorful burger! Â
Boyfriend & I each got the Super Cheesy Burger, name sure is appropriate but at the same time just the right amount. Â The cheese basically flowed out the sides onto the platter, which allowed me to scrape it up with my perfectly crispy french fries. Â The bun on the burger was soft with just a little toasting on the inside. Â Burger patty was thick, perfectly cooked - pink on the inside with a slight crust formed on the outside of the meat. Â It was wonderful. Â Burgers also served with a large pickle, ample amount of shredded lettuce & 2 slices of tomato.
Staff was also very attentive and friendly. Â Female bartender took care of us when we were seated at a table and checked up on us, let us know that the burgers were homemade & made of high quality meat. Â Cook also came out to check on us and to ensure we were enjoying our food. Â
Will be back in the future!
I recall atleast 3 other failed attempts at success in this spot in recent years. Dont know why the bad juju! This incarnation is basically a sports bar and not layed out as a restaurant. Â In order of importance: Â
Hamburger was great. Nice crust, Stayed together on nice bun.
Waitress very nice and helpful.
Guinness on tap, albeit too cold to enjoy properly.
Wings were meaty at $10....
Nice place to stop in but would not bring friends for Saturday dinner. Also, pictures overstate what you actually get on plate. My burger came with a few pieces of shredded lettuce and few chards of onion and thin slice of tomato. If the food looked like the pictures I wouldn't be mentioning it....but they don't! Â not deserving of the 4 plus stars.
I found this place because of a Yelp deal and I'm so glad I did---At first I was a little wary because the outside is deceiving but this place serves the best burgers that I have ever had. The apps are delicious as well, yes they aren't 'healthy' but they are damn delicious, and manage to be tasty and not greasy and gross at all. Frito pie--awesome! Fried pickles-surprisingly delicious! Tasty cheese fries too. Diet be damned-this place rocks.
You can choose to sit at a table or lounge on one of their leather sofas--it's a great spot to camp out with a group--I'm not into sports but with all of the flat screens I'm sure it's a good place to catch the game.
They could use a more extensive cocktail menu but what I had was tasty ---prices are more than reasonable. I came here with 8 people on a friday night and after apps, drinks, and burgers for all the bill came to around 150---and EVERYONE agreed it was the best burger they had ever had.
They even have a wednesday special where the burgers, drinks, and a few other items are 1/2 price.
Wait staff was friendly and attentive--really I have no complaints, I've been here 4x and each time was a great experience
After reading all of the positive reviews, I decided to meet a friend here to watch football, have a few drinks, and try these burgers everyone has been praising. Â Best decision I made all week. Â Friendly, attentive bartender and the owner went out of his way to greet the patrons. Made me feel like a regular. Â I had the cheese burger. Â One of best burgers I've ever had. You can tell the quality of the meat is excellent after one bite. I'll be back soon and I recommend it if you're in the area.
Review Source:my fiancee and I where in the mood for some pub food and some football so off to shakers on the advice on some positive yelp reviews. All the reviews where pretty much on the money the outside lacks any curb appeal, but took the advice of a review and we went inside. The inside is very cozy and well laid out plenty of chairs, couches and tables. We were greeted by mark who was very polite and helpful. All the staff was helpful and pleasant especially Tina very charming young lady excellent server. I had the bacon mushroom swiss burger and my fiancee had 2 apps off the pub menu the food was very good. We will be making a return trip for sure.
Review Source:Outstanding place!!!  Today was the first time Ive been here and when i mentioned that to the bartender, i felt like he treated my wife and I like we were on  a vacation.  The drinks were good and the wrap and burger we had were perfect.  The wrap was $8 and the burger $10.  Add a side of fries to either for a dollar more.  The place is not big but the space is utilized perfectly.  If you dont feel like sitting on a bar stool then feel free to take a seat on one of their leather sofas.  Only complaint is the cigarette smokers on the back patio are inconsiderate and blow their smoke into the bar.  I guess since its Long Island, you are going to run into a few pricks no matter where you go.
We WILL be back.
I've tried there burgers a few times before I came to the conclusion that this is the best burger in the Nassau County. As I was eating and enjoying my burger, the chef came out and asked me what I thought. I held back a little on what my review but she began talking about how they get there beef fresh daily from a butcher that delivers to them the highest quality meats. I do not doubt that. I'm a beer lover also and they have a decent variety of beers but need to rotate there variety of taps more. Also, they need to get rid of their mosquito problem around the bar. There must be some stagnant water around. They were flying all around me while I was eating. Bartenders and other staff are always friendly when I'm there. So it's a welcoming place to everyone.

I'm not normally a bar type, but I ended up going here with a friend and damn was it good. The beer selection was pretty good, but I don't drink much myself. I'll mostly be talking about the food. I had the Philly Cheesesteak and it was AWESOME. Also, my friend got us a Frito Pie and it was insane. Also, later that week I had their Texas Jalapeno burger with fried pickles and it was so good.
One thing I love about them is that the cheese sauce they use isn't too salty. They understand that "good taste" doesn't mean "as much salt as it can hold." Also, it's probably the best Reuben I've had in a long time. They make it like ti should be made.
Oh, also, there's a nice outdoor back ares with a fire pit. So it's a nice place to step out for a smoke, or just to get outside.
I really can't recommend this place enough, even if you're just calling in an order to take out. Their food is so good. Also the staff is nice as far as I can tell.
My husband an I came here on a Thursday night because nothing else was open and the reviews were great. Well here's another great review. The food was delicious. Had the Texas jalapeño fried which were just outstanding. How are fries outstanding??  I don't know. They just were. Had sliders, mushroom bacon Swiss burger, and portabello something or other, with sweet potato fries on the side.  Everything and I mean that, was very good. The bartender/owner Cashmere was so friendly. It looked like we were regulars here the way she an us were talking. Very friendly. Will come back for sure.
Review Source:Shakers is fun, clean and the service is great! I've been here on numerous occasions and have always left happy. The people that work here are especially nice and attentive. Especially Kashmir, who is not only gorgeous, but she is all around awesome. They're all very warm and welcoming, which is always a factor that magnetizes you back to any place. They have a jukebox with such a diverse selection of music that you find yourself listening to playlists that read so wrong but feel so right. It's relaxed like a dive bar but it's decor reflects more of a lounge. Good times!
Review Source:I have never in my 27 years of life tasted a burger this good. I had the liberty of enjoying the Colossal Burger... I enjoyed the burger but the fries were horrible.. they were so soggy.. just soaked in oil. I took 2 bites and threw them out. The burger was great but the fries sucked.

first time I came here, I got a clam chowder in a red broth. It wasn't chunky or creamy, but it was hearty and DELICIOUS! undoubtedly, the best clam chowder, I ever had! Shakers had me hooked after that. Since then I've been going back for lunch and have never had a dish that wasn't savory, flavorful and filling. The kick'n chick'n wrap tastes so fresh since their pico de Gallo is homemade, Â their big bite burger Patties come fresh from the local butcher and are always juicy and cooked to your preference perfectly. All their soups and chillis always leave me wanting seconds! The environment is very hospitable and the owners' and workers' are always very warm and welcoming. The drinks and menu are very affordable. You're sure to leave as a very happy patron after an experience at Shakers! :)

what a pleasant surprise. what seems like your average sports bar from the outside, is actually a lounge-y bar/restaurant with great service and delicious food.
the chef came out and gladly explained the menu, which is appreciated greatly from the both of us being both servers and my boyfriend, a chef.
we decided on the wings, a baby spinach and feta salad, and a bacon cheesburger.
the wings and the salad were both amazing but that burger, OH MY. best i've had in so long. you can really tell the meat is fresh and a lot was put into making the burger.
i really can't reccomend this place any more than i have, GO HERE.
This place rocks! Finally a good sportsbar in Mineola! Lots of TVs and couches everywhere. The wings are over the top good- crispy and hot on the outside and tender and juicy on the inside. Loved the spinach salad with bacon vinaigrette too. Drinks are great and the bartender, Kashmir is the best. Will definitely be back for the next game.

Â All in all this is a great place with a relaxed atmosphere. Â In addition to the usual tables, Shakers has many cushy leather couches with plenty of tables next them, so you can really relax. Â This is the perfect place for a casual evening.
