Easily the best burger in town. Easily the best fish and chips in town. Good beer on tap and they have Happy Hour burgers, which is amazing.

Just an ok place. They could use a definite remodel.

Found this place on Yelp while in Redding for the day. Stopped in for a few drinks and to catch the last part of the Giants game. It was nice to get in out of the heat; it's a nice sports bar with a TV playing any sport you could possibly want to watch, and they have UFC events. Makes me wish we had something like this in Humboldt.
We would have tried the food if we hadn't just ate somewhere else. The menu looked amazing, they had a fantastic selection of burgers and tasty things like Shepherd's Pie. If we are ever in Redding again; we will definitely come back to try the food!

This review is for the food.  I have been here once.  I had the pie without cheese.  It was very good and the bread was also good.  Might try other things if I find myself there again.

If not for the excellent and obviously made from scratch food, this place would be yet another corny, fake Irish pub. But since the food is excellent, It's my favorite fake Irish pub.

I like coming here for happy hour (read my reviews and you'll notice a trend) where you can save a  good $8 off a tab of 4 beers and a couple appetizers. The appetizers are all great. I can't come here without getting a basket of fries and drizzling some malt vinegar over them. The Irish nachos are ridiculously corny and not even close to an authentic Irish pub dish, but they sure are delicious. I think if you're gonna name something "Irish Nachos" you need to go all in on the cornball factor. Call them "Cousin Pancho O'Leary's South of the Checkpoint Irish Nachos"  and maybe throw some crumbled cojita cheese on them along with a free rosary (to signify the Catholic bond between Mexico and Ireland.... or something). I have gotten them with bacon and with the corned beef and they are delicious either way. The bacon is the nice freshly fried, thick-cut stuff, not some crumbled crap from a bag.

The fried pickles are addicting. They are heavily battered up and fried. The result is a delicious, greasy and crunchy battered shell with a nice juicy pickle interior..... that sounds wrong.

Salads have been excellent. The polenta burger is pretty good. The fish and chips are good, though not the best I've had, and I probably wont be getting them again since I like everything else more.

Service has always been top notch even with a lot of people in the place. You would not expect it from the cute blond waitresses in kilts, but they are pros. They are always very friendly and cheerful and happy to split orders or do something like half bacon and half corned beef Irish nachos. I have been here a dozen times or so and each time has been perfect service. I've also been here with a few other people and everyone is always very happy with their meals. I hear the turkey (or was it chicken? can't remember) was very good. Everyone loves those fries.

It should be noted that all their meat (including that delicious bacon) is coming from a premium local butcher, R&R Meats, so that's saying something. You can be sure you aren't getting served a bunch of pre-frozen Sysco crap here.

The draft beers are reasonably priced considering they come in imperial pint glasses and I'm pretty sure they are larger than your typical bar glass. At happy hour prices, they are definitely worth it. I usually only get through 1 glass before I'm too stuffed and ready to fall asleep from all the fried appetizers.

Clientele seems to be on the classier side for the Redding bar/pub scene, but I don't get out much and I've never been here past 7pm..... don't plan on it.

When you need a pub food fix, this place is not only going to satisfy that, but it's also going to leave you saying "Hey it may be a cheesy, fake Irish pub, but it's actually really good food!" Only thing to look out for is that they don't always give you happy hour prices even when you order during happy hour, so watch the bill if you care about saving a few extra bucks? I do, it's about the principle of the matter, dammnt!

The food was great, had a great atmosphere, but they charged me for 14 margaritas and since I couldn't prove that I didn't drink that many I was forced to pay! I was with a large group and this happened to a few others.

Truthfully I had one beer here and left.   I didnt want to give this place a nickel after  I was dismayed at the signs on the bar that says "all cards will be charged 1 dollar svc fee."  The bartender says its because of their fees they are passing to their customers.  IT IS THE COST OF DOING BUSINESS!  If you dont like the fees, take cash or raise your prices to incorporate the costs.  Almost everyone these days uses debit/credit cards, add it into your price structure.  Business 101.
Anyone who runs a business like this, I dont want to go to and I and everyone I know will go somewhere else.

I liked that their "well" whiskey is Jameson. :) I liked the mostly Irish decorations. We tried the osso bucco wings and it was pretty tasty. More sweet & salty than spicy. It comes with fries & blue cheese dressing. The wings are huge! Some looked not fully cooked in the center. I thought $10 was kind of pricey, but the 5 drumsticks were pretty big.
The diet Pepsi & Jameson's pretty good. You almost can't taste the whiskey, but you can feel it. For $4, I could've drank 3-4!:)
So you're wondering why 3 stars if I like the drinks & food? The waitress was nice & friendly. She was really descriptive & helpful. My husband tried a beer & so did she. I was kinda surprised by that. I've never seen a waitress/ manager taste beer with customer. My annoyance is probably a small one, but I dunno...it bugged me. She checked up on us a couple times & gave us the check when we were done. She was talking with her friends & seemed more interested in hanging with her friends than working.
We put cash for check & tip. She took it and went to sit by her friends & counted the money. I find that uncomfortable as a customer. It seemed unprofessional. I dunno why counting by her friends instead of the register bugged me more. It just did. We didn't see her after she took our money.
Would we return? Since we were passing by to get to Oregon, probably not. Would I recommend it to my friends & you? Maybe. The menu's small & the food was tasty if a little undercooked. The waitress was pretty good except for the friends & counting money part. Also, there's a$1 fee if u use credit card. It didn't bug my husband, but I preferred paying cash than getting charged.

Had the pleasure of a first visit to Shameless last Thursday, and we were pleasantly surprised. Having been to a number of good pubs in Ireland, I must say that this one is a reasonable facsimile, and far less expensive. My spouse had a Spanish beer that she really liked, along with a great burger, and my corned beef and cabbage Reuben was exceptional. We agreed that the fries were the best in Redding.

As for the service, even though it was busy with lots of MarketFest folks coming in, our waitress was pleasant, efficient, and very worthy of her generous tip. All in all, a very good experience and we plan to go back with friends tomorrow evening.

Have been here twice since moving to town a month ago.

On my birthday (a Tuesday night) hubby & I sat at a high-top table & ordered the beer on special (Kilt Lifter).  Our waitress was nice, not overly friendly, but efficient.  I had the fish & chips (it IS an Irish Pub, after all) but they were HORRIBLE.  The breading was soft & had no flavor.  A major disappointment.  But, the beer was good & the company was great!  :o)

The decor is pretty dang cool.  A whole wall of old whiskey kegs.  A beautiful bar, nicely lit up & showcasing tons of different whiskeys as well as a great selection of GOOD beer (not just beer-flavored water)!  The interior is VERY nice.  Although, a little bright for my taste - just need to dim some lights as the night wears on.

The second time, we just went in for a few beers, no food.  The crowd is younger (mid-20's to 30's) but not obnoxious, which is nice!  (Gawd, that makes me sound o..l..d...)  Nice & lively on a Friday night and not too crowded.

    We will definitely be back!

Pros: The food is the best bar food I've ever had.  Everyone who is able should go in and dig into a Shameless Burger!  Jameson is on tap, which is extravagant and awesome.  The two whiskey lists are an inventive idea, and my husband and I are slowly making our way through the 100 list together.  Fantastic selection of whiskeys.  If you like sports, this place is so much better than Bleachers Sports Bar across town!  Everyone with whom I've dealt is very friendly, from waitresses to bartenders.  Awesome ambience - the interior is warm, dark, and cozy, and it reminds me of an Irish pub.

Cons: I've never waited so long to get a drink.  I've sat at the not-full bar for almost twenty minutes, vainly attempting to flag down the not-overwhelmed bartender without success.  When you can get someone's attention, it may take a while to get your order filled, be it drink or grub.

Overall, I will be a continuing customer.  I think they put crack in their food...it's SO good, I totally hooked!

    A late Wednesday night.

Walked in here after being disappointed at the club across the street. Half drunk already, i walked up to the entrance and walked straight in. No cover, which im sure the men reading this will surely appreciate that.

A nice irish atmosphere, nice beer selection, and the bartenders were cool as shit. There wasnt that many people in the place, but the people that were in here were nice to look at if you know what i mean ;o)

This place is definitely the best spot for cheap alcohol, good people, and semi loud environment.

I really liked this place but unfortunately the food left much to be desired fish and chips tasted like they had reused old oil and the drink tasted like it was watered down.  I would like to give it another chance although they should have, after I complained, at least discounted the tab.  My friends had a different order and there food and drink were fine so I will considered this a bad day and things like this do happen so I will try it one more time and try eggs benedict with corn beef and dark beer and see what happens. Redding does have culture dispite some other reviews.  I love Shasta Lake city!

Back into Shameless for the second time.  Started with a drink and perused the menu.  Several things sounded good, but my dad was wanting steak so we moved on.  I tried a new (for me) beer, but for the life of me can't remember the name!  I believe it was an Irish cream ale and started with "S".  Similar to Guiness, but a touch lighter.  It was recommended by our waitress since I wanted to try something new.  Good recommendation!  Next time for sure we eat here.  I want to try the food.  the atmosphere is fun and the staff obviously enjoy their work!  Thanks.

We loved this place.  Found it by chance, using Yelp while headed North on I-5 mid December 2011.  We were traveling from LA to the Eugene area, this was a great place to stop for dinner.  Directions took us right to the location.  The food was great, quick service and cold beer.  Child friendly and they even served the kids Shirley Temples!  We will come by here again on our next trip through Redding.  I wish our little town had such a place.  Very friendly, clean and super food!

The beer was good, the fries were outstanding. However the waitress was really really bad. It was not especially busy, it took 20 minutes to get half of our drinks which were only beers. Then one persons food showed up before her drink. Then we asked for a bar menu that she never brought back. Then 30 minutes later she came to check on us and someone asked for a taste of a beer that never showed up. When we asked for the check she brought the bar menu. A little late. We won't go out of our way to come back. The post office up the street is a better low key hang out.

we love this place... every time we go we have the fish and chips. you can even have them up the amount of fish for just a little bit more.. my husband and i went to san Francisco for two weeks we tried 3 places that offered fish and chips. one of the places was a Irish pub. i didn't like the fill of the place it was dark and we had a bum hit us up for money while we were waiting for our order and it took a long time to get our fish and chips and we when got them they sucked... none of the places had better fish and chips then shameless does! i love the openness of shameless.. the fish and chips are to die for... this is a must eat! and the waitresses are always sweethearts. however Jenna has been the best waitress we have had!

This place is quality! Great food, good beer on tap, and jameson on tap. For Redding it is definitely a highlight. They are also the only place in town that actually serves food til close. Prior to shameless if you wanted to get a beer and some grub after 10 you would have to go to applebees which is just a travesty.

They also have an excellent brunch on Sundays! I had the the eggs Benedict with corn beef and was very satisfied. As for lunch and dinner if your supper hungry try the shamless burger. I am also a fan of the polenta burger if you dont have a need for meat.

Had a lot of fun last Saturday night at Shameless O'Leery's. Now living in Oregon, I was in Redding for a combined 65,66 and 67 Shasta HS reunion. We walked over to O'Leery's from the Post Office Saloon. It is good to see West Redding coming back to life. Although a much younger crowd, from my perspective, my buddies and I had a great time. Everyone was friendly and good natured.

Couldn't ask for better service and atmosphere. So nice to have a unique, non chain, Pub style restaurant in Redding. Menu is a bit small but that is on par for Pubs. Beer selection is diverse but please, for love of God, add Downtown Brown!!

I had the Bangers and Mash and it was a fantastic take on a Irish classic. My Wife had the Sheppard's Pie and it was very good. The "gravy" inside the Pie could have been a bit more thick but it was still better than anything similar in this town. Our server was a very nice young lady named Ace. Just about all the female servers wear a "kilt like" short skirt with knee high socks. A very nice touch.

The only negative I could find is that the lighting behind the bar is a little harsh. These little under shelf lights (probably LED) give off a really pinpoint light effect that is doubled by the mirrors behind them. If you are light sensitive I suggest you avoid sitting at the bar.

Finally a pubs that isn't a chain and it almost like home.
We ate there for the first time today, after our favorite lunch haunt was closed today.
My wife had the Sheppard pie ( finally someone who makes it with lamb, likes its meant to be)
I had the bangers and mash.
Super fast service, very friends waitress. Good atmosphere.

This is not what pubs are really like either in Ireland or Britain, but its pretty damm close, and certainly good enough for me to have have a new place to grab lunch ..even with the kids.

Proper chips as well. and salt and vinegar at the table.. I miss the small things

Great place to get together with friends and have some good beer.  The draft beer list is not huge but it's got plenty of Irish beers to choose from. The decoration won't fool you into thinking you're in Ireland but it's nice.  The waitresses wear very short, kilt looking skirts which my husband and our friend seemed to enjoy.  Not a lot for a vegetarian to eat but my husband enjoyed the Irish Nachos a lot!  Also, I left my phone there by accident and the staff kept is safe for me until the next day.  I'll definitely be back!

We were excited to see this new addition to the downtown Redding scene.  Stopped in for lunch and I don't think we will be back anytime soon.  Fish and Chips has gotta be got at an Irish Pub (IMHO) and O'Leery's missed the mark.  The fires were soggy and literally swimming in a puddle of oil and the portion size on the fish left something to be desired.  The Brussels Sprout Salad was unique but again portion size was not sufficient for an "entree" salad and was missing the cheese that was promised on the menu.  Bangers were decent but very rich and greasy (also missing the horseradish on the side).  In short, we both left with a stomach ache.  Our relatively simple menu questions seemed to stump the wait staff.  You will find Irish Whiskey a-plenty here (on TAP!!) but not any kind of hard cider.  It seems like they had a hard time deciding if they wanted to be a "trendy" or "traditional" Irish pub so the decor is representative of both angles.  Might be a good place to grab a drink, but if you're looking for good pub grub, keep looking.

Lunch at Shameless today was awesome!  Service was quick, attentive and friendly. Had the fish and chips. Fish was hot, crispy and flaky. And while the individual pieces were small, there were plenty of them to fill me up. Fries were excellent especially with the Shameless sauce. This was my lunch hour so no drinks but last Friday night they were awesome!!  Great new place downtown!

Forget Johnny's Cathouse or Bombays the place to be is Shameless.
Maxwell's has got some stiff competition here for downtown bar food. Great food and a friendly staff. I would prefer the music to be a little quieter though.

Wow.  Finally a downtown pub that does it right.  Some people complain that the lighting is "too much" for them, but I think it keeps everything bright and fresh.  We were served by Rory and he was extremely attentive and had great timing.  The bartenders appear to be extremely experienced and they're really friendly...

I was hungry enough at noon to eat the lamb o' Jayzus through the rungs of a chair. Decided to check out the new place after reading Rocky's review.

For whatever reason, I was expecting a cheesy, fake Irish pub.  And guess what?  It's a cheesy, fake Irish pub.  I mean, it bears only a faint Disneyland-ish resemblance to the Irish dive pubs in SF, where the bartender might tell you in a thick brogue to piss off and get the fuck out when you try to order a drink, just for the amusement of the regulars (I've seen it happen). And over the PA system we were treated to the most clichéd version of "Danny Boy" ever recorded, instead of Dropkick Murphys or The Pogues belting out Celtic punk/folk.

Even so, it just became one of my favorite bars in downtown Redding.  A potent antidote to Capone's (owned by some of the same young guys, I think), where it seems every drink on the menu is a horrible concoction involving Red Bull, and if you order a traditional whiskey cocktail they have to look up the recipe.  I had an IPA with my O'Leary's lunch, and I'm looking forward to trying a few of their Irish whiskies.

But the big surprise for me was the food.  The shepherd's pie was delicious, and the ladies split a lamb burger that was also very good.  There were probably a dozen other items on the menu that I want to try.

The only negative part of my experience:  We had a really cute waitress who was wearing a white blouse, green tartan wool skirt, and knee-high white sox......if you know what I mean, and I think that you do.  She carded my youngest daughter over her pint of beer.  Looked at the kid's ID and said, "Oh, same year as *my* birthday."

:::sound of needle scraping across the record:::

What can I say... Opening night and it was awesome!!!  Service was great (thank you Jenna!). Bangers and mash...  I've died and gone to carb heaven. They were amazing.  Jameson on tap, who could ask for more. Chris, Wes and the rest of the guys you hit a home run!
