After several hours of riding the back roads i decided to try this place out.  According to the building it was voted best little cafe in East Texas.  Who knows where the votes came in from and as far as i know it may have been the only cafe within 50miles.  Either way I would like to find the source to validate this.

Call me stupid for ordering the reuben sammich at a place like this, because that's what i am.  You had a typical menu and there like a sore thumb stood out the reuben.  I thought this was funny, but then again i figured if it was out of place it had to be good right?  Nope nope nope, i was wrong!  Corned beef was not thinly sliced, but a whole slab.  Slight amout of cheese slapped on some soggy dark break.  The disappointment started to set in.  I should have went with the typical menu cafe food for a country place as such.

Service was good with no complaints and prices were very respectable for what i had.  Prices would be awesome if the food was.  This is out there in BFE and i see me going there once or twice a year to ride.  I will give this place one more shot the next time i am out that way.  Update to come after.

Beautiful Saturday, arrived at 10:15 with the parking lot half full.  Food was good but cold, service was fine, but the kitchen was really slow.  Did I say slow? it was beyond slow and it wasn't real busy in the restaurant.  We didn't get out of there until close till noon.  Doubt I'll go back.

This place was just as amazing as I hoped for and then some. We stopped her as a recommendation and was not at all disappointed. My son and I both had the chicken fried steak. It was seasoned and cooked to perfection. The crispy crust also stood up to the very tasty country gravy. We had fried okra and mashed potatoes as our two sides which made a great accompaniments. My husband had the catfish. He was very impressed with the size of the filets, especially for the price. I talked him into the onion rings since we didn't get them as an appetizer. They were as tasty as they looked on the menu. Just the right thickness and perfectly seasoned batter. I also had to try the blackberry cobbler as my mom passed away several years ago and no one makes me cobblers anymore. It was not to sugary and had a great consistency. Took me back to my childhood.

I had been hoping to get my husband down here on a motorcycle ride now I think since he has tried the food and felt how the staff treated us like part of the family I don't think the twisting of his arm will be to difficult.

This is a definite come again for us and must try for anyone who has not eaten here.
