Sunday morning breakfast was an A-Ok experience. It's so laidback and definitely fitting with this incredible, maintained ancient piece of Long Beach (and WA) history. My friend was totally into the place.
I had the oatmeal with the usual sidekicks. It was good. The waitress was ok, if a bit not quite dialed in. I loved the solid table architecture, artwork and the grandfather clock.
In Seaview for the weekend and a local shop owner highly recommended The Shelburne for a nice dinner. Â The reviews were great so I bit.
Oh my goodness, where do I begin? Â It was late Saturday and we sat in the pub. Â There was one other party of 4 and 3 people at the bar.
It took 20 minutes to get our drinks and appetizer, rubbery calamari overwhelmed with garlic and floating in liquid. Â Pita bread was soggy from the liquid too. Â Sent it back and didn't order another appetizer.
Another 20 minutes went by and our drinks ran dry. Â The bartender was too busy chatting with his buds at the bar to serve his 2 tables
Finally the entrees came out and were delivered to the wrong table. Â Should have left them there.
I got the jalapeño burger and salad.  Burger was cold and overdone.  The lemon vinaigrette was delicious but that was it.
My companion got the fish and chips. Â The fish was fried HARD, the potatoes were soggy, greasy and old, and the tartar sauce obviously had been sitting a while under the heat lamp.
After not receiving the bill I went to the bar to pay so I could get outta there. Â $50 for two and I felt violated. Â Never again!
