Shiki

How disappointing!  The first signal that this was a subpar restaurant was how empty it was on a Saturday @7pm in season.  We ordered 2 appetizers, broiled miso cod and beef negamaki.  The cod was thin, the texture was oily & it did not taste good, so we returned it, giving our feedback politely.  We should also have returned the negamaki which was an embarrassment, it was tasteless, the mirin soy sauce was almost non-existent & runny and it was the smallest portion I have ever seen, a real joke.

The sashimi deluxe was good although some of the fish were ridiculously thin, not worth $30!  It did not come with soup, salad or rice either.  We ordered sides of rice which never came, when we asked again they gave us a bowl of cold rice, which we then had to return to warm up.  By the time the waitress returned with the heated rice we were finished so we told her it was too late. The manager came over in a huff & berated us, not the role model for good customer service.  Whatever happened to the concept that the customer is always right?  We will never return.

Don't bother coming to Zok-kon, as it is now called, you will be throwing away your money & leaving hungry!

Shikki is perfect if you have not any understanding of sushi.  I have had better at the supermarket take out.  Service was poor and other than cute 20 somethings running around it has zero going for it.  

This place gets the ..."You've Got to be Kidding Me Award".

My wife and I have continued to return to Shiki but probably will no longer continue to do so. The charm and friendlyness of Bamboo that was for sometime maintained as Shiki is now long gone. The menu is pretty typical sushi / Asian fusion fare, nothing interesting or different. Additionally, we have had two experiences of ordering an entre that was wrapped in leaks but instead it came with tasteless watery squash. After this experience the first time we specifically asked the next time about the leaks and were told by the waiter that he would "make sure" it came with leaks, except, it didn't.

We complained and the manager told us it was "new" kitchen staff.. they did buy us a round of drinks but overall the managers attitude was dismissive and at that point we decided we were done dining at Shiki.
