Had a fantastic meal at ship wreck last night! Staff was great and the food was amazing. I was with a group of 4 and there were no complaints. Would highly recommend. Only reason it doesn't get a 5 is the fact the owner doesn't let the water taxi (which is awesome and even suggested the place) park there so you have to walk a ways.
Review Source:Excellent service , and I will call it a hidden gem on the Shore. The wine list is impressive , the seafood is fresh and thoughtfully prepared.Shrimp cocktail were as big as a fist . The Tuna special was perfectly balanced
, same for the other specials. Great atmosphere ,though a bit noisy ....but hey your by the beach. Really would give it four and a half stars,Yelp should provide for that.
I LOVE FOOD! I have been frequenting the Shipwreck Grill it since they opened in November of 2001 and it is is one of my favorites! Terrific, great seafood with an outstanding wine menu and terrific service! I would eat there every night if I could afford to!
The lobster salad and steamers are my favorite! And the atmosphere is exactly what I look for!
Monday is lobster night!
This place was great. It's very rare that we give 5 stars but this is one time we felt obligated. Very casual yet very high end food for the area. We had the calamari app and also the seared scallop and foie gras app to start. Both were totally perfect. For dinner I got the 38oz ribeye with the creamed spinach and mashed potatoes and onion rings. Crazy good. Kim got the seared scallops (I know redundant) with filet mignon. I finished the entire steak in 13 minutes. Yes, it was that good.
We had to skip dessert because we were so full but we also must say that the service was impeccable. Perfect. Attentive but not overbearing. Just awesome. Next time Kim and I are arguing I'll be heading here for my customary stress-reliever meal. I'm getting yelled at. Gotta go!
My bf and I went there for his bday. He got steak and I got steak and scallops. Our food was delicious! I was never a steak fan but after my dish, I became one! I also got a glass of wine and my bf got 2 beers and the total bill was over $130. It was very expensive but it was worth it.
Review Source:Very nice place. Not too big, but not small, has a large bar and had plenty of business on Friday night. The menu was a little large for my view, and had some interesting selections for sure. I would pare down the menu and go with more specials but that is me. The food was very good, the service was really good and the experience was way above average. Not the cheapest place but here again, it is well worth it. It is a good place to know when down in this area.
Review Source:I love this place. Â Great food, great service. Â I have gotten the rib eye steak on 3 occasions and it is so flavorful. Â The scallops were to die for. The desserts are also excellent. Â Â Whether you sit at a table or at the bar the service is excellent. Â I have a house down in Seaside and try to get here every time I come down.
Review Source:Went here last night after hearing wonderful things. Â We were seated at the time of our reservation, which is a plus. Â I had the gazpacho and a piece of halibut. Â Neither were memorable. Â In fact, the best way to describe it was "wedding food", meaning everything on the dish tastes exactly the same. Â The service was very slow, and the time between our appetizers and entrees was over 45 minutes. Â Sad to say I won't be back.
Review Source:One word....WOW! I've lived around the corner for years and have never tried this place until about a month ago. Since then I have been back twiceand both times were excellent. The first time we had the poached lobster and a scallop special. The second time we enjoyed a 1 1/2 lb stuffed lobster for $25....did I say $25!?! Yes!! On monday nights they have lobster specials. Delicious! I am still wanting to try one of their steaks which i heard are wonderful. Atmosphere is also inviting and servers are very friendly and attentive. Â My only regret is not trying this place sooner.
Review Source:Our first time here. We were VERY impressed. The corn clam chowder is simply delicious. Both of our entrees, grouper with horseradish sauce and Dover sole, equally good. In particular, the vegetables were perfectly  crisp  The desserts were unbelievable!  We'll definitely be back.

This is by far one of the best local restaurants! They have awesome food- Â that's just about all i can say. Â We usually end up spending a fortune here because we order several apps and then bottles of wine and entrees and dont' forget the chocolate peanut butter dessert! Â
we have not yet visited shipwreck point-  maybe sometime soon but I think it's more of a steak menu  and i'm more of a seafood kind of person :)
I went here for my birthday, guys! The decor and ambience are straight-up New England. John Irving novel protagonist=me!!! I am special and there is a book about me because my birthday is so close to Christmas. That would be an excellent element of a narrative!
Anyway, I'm getting off track. I had the ribeye and it was so flavorful! And the souffle was to die for! It tasted like a kiss from a rose, tossed from an angel on the moon. (The moon, because there is no decomposition and it is super fresh.)
No two ways about it, this is the best restaurant I've been to in a while! Three cheers! (Hip hip, huzzah!)
The Shipwreck is one of my favorite places to go when I come into town. Â However, you must make a reservation way in advance otherwise there is almost no chance of you getting in (only bummer thing).
I would highly recommend getting the surf and turf here. Â I am a big fan. Â If you're not into this sort of thing there is still a great selection of fish and red meat to choose from. Â Their desserts are also quite tasty. Â The last time I went I got the chocolate peanut butter cake and the black and white souffle with maple ice cream (not all for myself of course). Yum!
Always reliable for a great meal. Â Would be 5 stars except for the noise. Â I recommend going during the week since the bar scene is quite loud and makes a conversation during dinner virtually impossible Fri, Sat and
Sun.  For the Jersey shore this is one of the best  - unless you go to Cape May.  Interesting preparations, well -done and professional service.
The bar scene here as crowded and noisy as ever but I must admit I enjoyed the best NY strip steak I have ever eaten in Jersey last Friday night. Â Done to perfection, medium rare this piece of prime beef was simply delicious. Â Washed down with a bottle of 2006 Villa Antinori Tuscany Reserva - a very nice combination indeed.
Were it not for the overall ambience of Shipwreck I would rate it (5) stars but the place is just to noisy and busy for my taste. Â Plus the high end pricing is questionable sometimes when there is little perceived value to go along with it.
Thanks for having me back many times every year at the Shipwreck ! Â Since 2001 I've played your special events that required extra care. Â I'm looking forward to DJing and playing at least another 25 years in your establishment. Â I brought my family to your place and it is the only one they have not ripped apart. Â Your restaurant is the only place in NJ with such great seafood and a proven following and track history.
Review Source:It was good, but not great. I started with the mixed greens salad. It was very delicious and a perfect portion. The fillet and scallops on the chef specialties portion of the menu was okay. My fillet wasn't as tender as I was hoping, but the scallops were amazing. My husband enjoyed the lobster bisque, but he's had better (see the Milton Inn) and his fillet off the grill menu was cooked perfectly and very tender. We finished with the trio of creme brulle. I'm not a huge creme brulle fan so, I wasn't impressed. It was left unfinished. $250 for four with a drink each including tip. I thought it was over priced for the atmosphere and the food. Then again, I'm spoiled with the food we've had here at home in the Baltimore area. Service was excellent and I wouldn't mind coming back. I think next time I would stick with the seafood.
Review Source:Restaurant is right on the water and there is even an outside dinning area and a good size bar inside. Â Service is amazing, very helpful and friendly. Â Wine list is spectacular, yet a little pricey. Â Food is delicious and caters to all types of seafood. Â If you catch it on the right night, there is live music at the bar. Â Wine, food, music, scenery, good company = killer date! I definitely recommend this establishment.
Review Source:I love this place. I've been there several times now and although it's usually pretty crowded, they do a great job of seating you despite being fairly small. The bar is a great time and the live music is lots of fun. The food is delicious--their lobster bisque is the best! They also have a molten center cake that is great!!! Highly recommend!
Review Source:This is my favorite restaurant of all time (right now.) Â I'm there at least once a week and the food never, ever fails. Â They just took my favorite salad off the menu, however, so I'm a little hurt, but I'll get over it.
I usually try to order one of the daily specials because there is always something new and interesting. Â On the regular menu, you can't go wrong either. Â I think they do fish the best, but we also had outrageous steak there too.
You can make reservations for the dining room. Â I'm a bar eater, far more interesting to me, so we try to get there early whenever we're going. They are open year round, so if you don't like crowds come before Memorial Day.
