Such wonderful food. And it's not your run of the mill Italian restaurant. They consider it Italian with Mediterranean influences, but there are so many different things here I would just call it Mediterranean. I definitely recommend the sampler platter with the flat bread as a starter, after that you're on your own because it's all good. :)
Review Source:We were excited to meet some friends for dinner at Siba. The atmosphere here was nice. Unfortunately, dinner was a disappointment. The service was slow, and our waiter did not check in often. My son's meal came 10 minutes after all of the other food. My daughter ordered the New York Strip. It was cooked as ordered, but it was so bland. My Chicken Marsala was good overall, but the chicken was a bit rubbery. The "jumbo" crab cakes were a not good at all, and for nearly $30, the portion was small. The mashed potatoes were the only really tasty part of the meal. The menu did not impress. In fact, our friends said that it used to have a much wider selection. For the price of this meal, I would have expected much better quality. We will find another local place to enjoy next time.
Review Source:We've  been to Siba many, many times. Tried dinners there over the years (it's easy walking distance from our house), tried hanging at the bar with friends, tried special occasion events there, you name it we've given it every opportunity. But we're done. Been trying it since they opened.
How can you not be attracted to someplace that bills itself as a "Tuscan Grill"? I love the idea but the execution is not even close to what it should be - especially for the pricing. Even if it were less expensive, I wouldn't go there for the food which is not Tuscan and not worthy. The bar can get crowded (why??) and we've been forced to move out of the bar when the entertainment showed up - a guy with a guitar and a few amplifiers crowding out the limited space in the bar. Yuck. That was enough to make me leave anyway. The only redemption for Siba was their outdoor patio which they've  now converted to a new space - BoHem, a supposed European Bistro. We'll see how that goes. If you're heading to Siba, don't  look for me there.
I live within walking distance of Siba and unless a friend says meet us there for drinks or the girls do a lunch get together, I avoid it. Why? Overpriced and underwhelmed. It's really a pretty restaurant but the food needs to step it up! Every now and then I'll get something that I really like then the next time I order it, the quality is subpar.
Servers are consistently inattentive and distracted. We used to meet people at the bar after work and all of us remarked about that. The last 2 times I met the girls for lunch there, nothing had changed. Diners actually care about service and food!
When it becomes a 50/50 flip of a coin on whether you'll have a good or a bad time in a restaurant, especially one where we'll be paying $100 for dinner and drinks, I will go elsewhere.
Second trip this year and it won't be the last. Â Lobster Mac 'n cheese is new on the menu and the lobster is the star of the show. Â Mahi mahi with grilled Mediterranean veggies comes in a sizzling iron skillet. Delish! Â The Gorgonzola crusted strip steak was perfectly done and comes with generous sides. Great atmosphere and attentive wait staff. Dinner selections are somewhat limited. Â Also a great place for appetizers and drinks. The apps are all tasty and big enough to share.
Review Source:I love visiting for lunch. They have a fantastic ceasar salad. I've ordered it to go several times because I love it so much. I also really adore the lobster BLT sandwich. It comes with a little cup of the lobster bisque so you can dip your sandwich in it if you like. Loaded with bacon and big chunks of lobster. The sauce has a great little kick to it. All in all, one of my favorite places to do lunch. And I love to sit on the porch on warmer days.
Review Source:A good dining option among the limited selection of finer restaurants in the northern suburbs. Great ambiance and service. When I went during the holidays, I was impressed with the effort they took to adorn the restaurant. Quality furnishing.
Lunch (less than $15/entree) and dinner (less than $30/entree) prices vary. Quality and bang for your buck are quite good. Food presentation is good.
Appetizers: the stuffed banana peppers stuffed with hot sausage are prepared in a cast iron skillet and are phenomenal. The hummus, tabbouleh, and tzatziki sampler comes with flatbread served on a u-shaped boat.
Entrees: pork chops and the pizzas are consistently very good. The olive oil white pizzas are a great change of pace from the traditional red sauce. Crust and dough are great, love the distinct oven flavor. Â
Have enjoyed all of my visits and will definitely be back.
I had the Kobe Burger, and it was good. Â I like the burgers at BRGR better, but it was still much better than average. Â They had sweet potato fires that were OK. Â I also had a little salad and again, OK. Â
The menu looked great, and maybe I just picked the wrong things, but I still think that BRGR is the better value.
Stopped in to try the wine bar and get a munchie or two with my sweetie. Â
Was told this is a great place for a date. Â Love the atmosphere of the wine bar area. Â Great romantic ambiance with the gas fire pit. Â It is a great place for a date.
The wine list is long and has selections from all over the world. Â There are about 3 dozen wines you can select by the glass. Â Since in a Tuscan Grill, chose an Italian wine that was good, however the wine by the glass prices are a little steep. Â My glass was almost as much as the bottle at the local state store.
Enjoyed a Mediterranean flatbread that was very good and little larger than expected.
The bartender was busy but did a good job taking care of us.
Absolutely delicious and one of my new favorite places!
We sat outside but the bar area and the indoor seating is warm and cozy with a trendy feeling. We started out with a bottle of wine which was overpriced but a nice touch for dinner.
They gave us nice warm bread with what I believe was either sun dried tomato or roasted red pepper butter. I started with the lobster bisque which was very yummy and then ordered the spicy shirmp penne. When i say that it was spicy, I definitely mean it! But it was so good! My friend ordered the Italian wedding soup and then the chicken parm with pasta.
Without even ordering an appetizer, we were stuffed! The food was delicious and there was no room for dessert. We did look at the dessert menu which had many options for $8.
The wait staff was pleasant and attentive and I think that the prices are just right!
My wife and I went to Siba for our two year wedding anniversary. We have a 3 month old so we had to go pretty early but I made a reservation through open table anyway. The decorating and theme of the place is awesome. Perfect for a special dinner. Since my wife can't drink I chose not to also however, because it was our anniversary they offered a free dessert which was nice.
We got calamari which was great and then I got the bacon wrapper tenderloin and she got some spinach fettuccine dish. Both were very good and appropriate portion sizes. It wasn't overly loud in there and the wait staff was fantastic.
For dessert we got carrot cake and creme brûlée. The carrot cake was awesome. I am not a creme brûlée fan so it was nothing special to me. All in all a great night and we will be back for sure.
During a recent trip to the Burgh, I was disappointed by the menu changes at Siba. There's a new chef in the house, so maybe I should cut him some slack, and yet I can't seem to do that.
The strawberry salad didn't have very many berries (maybe three at most), but was tasty otherwise. The spinach fettucini with asparagus and artichokes was a bland dish overpowered by the heavy artichoke flavor and lackluster broth type sauce.
Our waiter could tell we were sad by the recent turn of events and brought a carrot cake on the house. Nice gesture and yet not enough for me to return next time.
After a disappointing visit last fall, we have avoided our once "regular" dining spot like that plague. Â Six months later, BJ was willing to give them another chance. Â I went along for the ride.....
The bf had made a reservation via Open Table requesting our favorite cozy booth. Â Check. Â We were greeted right away by our uber charming and super cool server Jose. Â He was prompt in the delivery our beverages. Â Check. Â I got a wedge salad and Spicy Shrimp, BJ launched into a complaint concerning his pork and our last visit. Â Jose assured him that his meat would be perfectly cooked also acknowledging that they now have a new sous chef. Â Our meals turned out to be fantastic. Â BJ's pork did not have to make additional trips to the kitchen, so he was very happy. Â
For dessert, we asked for our server's opinion. Â He highly recommended the white chocolate raspberry bread pudding. Â It was delicious. Â We will more than likely be re adding Siba back into our restaurant rotation.
Stopped here on a whim while in the area because the outside looked intriguing and I'm always down for some good Italian eating. The decor is rustic modern-Italian, warm and inviting -- a nice start to the lunch. :) We sat in a comfy booth and decided on soup and salad because I have to eat gluten-free. They do have some awesome-looking paninis and pizzas, but I can't eat them. :( The horror! I started with the Tomato Bisque, which was a delicious, chunky puree. So good! I don't normally like tomato soup, but I loved this. For my meal, I had the Steak Salad (locally known as a Pittsburgh salad) -- with juicy, tender, AMAZING steak, crispy potato pieces, parmesan cheese, and tomatoes. Soooo good. I could eat this salad every single day. I've never had such good steak on a salad before. Normally restaurants skimp on the quality of meat because it is on a salad, but not here. Our waiter was very pleasant, our meals came out promptly, and I definitely plan on going back.
The only thing bad I have to say about this place that the music choice was pretty whack. There was some sort of contemporary, smooth jazz/pop music on that was not very fitting of an Italian restaurant.
The prices here put it out of the everyday dinner category, so you want to plan an evening to come here. We stopped in without reservations on a Friday night and were seated promptly. I have the feeling that if we arrived later there would have been a wait. The restaurant filled up quickly as the evening progressed. Our waitress was very friendly and personable. We didn't feel rushed or pressured.
Our dinner choices included:
Zucchini Fritti
Chicken Funghi e Pomodoro
Dungeness Crab Cakes
Baked Cookie
The Zucchini Fritti appetizer was very good, although we were unsure of how to actually eat it. It was very much like fried curly zucchini straws - too difficult to eat with a fork, too upscale to eat with your fingers. The taste was right on the money.
The meals were both very good. I don't normally eat seafood, but I enjoyed the crab cakes very much. You can tell they put attention into the presentation of the food as well as the taste. Portion sizes left us satisfied, but not so full that we couldn't enjoy a baked cookie and ice cream for dessert.
I like the atmosphere here. Live music began at 8pm and the artists fit the ambiance well. They were set up by the bar but we could enjoy the music at a comfortable level from across the room.
Only downsides: we weren't offered refills on our drinks and prices are high.
Our table by the hostess table was way too dark. Â They even had small flashlights attached to the table so that you can read your menu. Â I had to use the flashlight to see my food. Â My filet was dry and was not medium to well done as I had ordered.I need gluten free food and ordered gelato for dessert which they brought in a pastry shell! Â Our table area was so dark that the waitress temporarily lost our credit card and could not find it. Â Eventually it was found on the floor at the next table but it was so dark that she had a difficult time locating it, even with other servers helping her. I would suggest that they invest in table lamps at their tables in dark areas and pay better attention to what you are serving.
Review Source:Wow, I can't say enough about this place. Â LOVED the atmosphere and decor.
Zucchini fries  were delicious as an appetizer.  Lunch for our party of three was:  1. Brie, pears, mixed greens on a baguette with a salad of mixed greens with balsamic vinaigrette.  2.Chicken citrus salad.  3. Lobster BLT with crisped potatoes  (lobster, apple wood cheddar, thick, crisp bacon and a spicy remoulade with lettuce and tomato. Â
Delicious! Â
Looking forward to trying their wine night sometime soon.
I'm torn about how to rate this restaurant, because I have had amazing experiences, not so great experiences, and okay experiences dining here. Â However, I have really enjoyed the food and I think it's a nice place, so I'm deciding everything averages out to 4 stars.
The food is generally really great. Â I prefer their dinner menu, because the lunch menu is so limited, but I think most people will be able to find food they like on both (if you go after 3pm or so, you can normally ask for the dinner menu). Â My favorite is definitely the filet. Â And I love the crispy potato wedges that come in the steak salad (which I'll get as a side on other things). Â The salads, however, are quite small for dinner salads, not really something that would make a whole meal. Â And I find their flatbreads to be mediocre at best.
Most of the problems I've had have been with service, the quality of which varies a huge amount depending on which server you get. Â Also, depending on what time you get there you can end up near some really obnoxious people, which for some reason Siba seems to attract (one time was especially annoying as there were a group of very loud, very drunk businesswomen and no one else in the restaurant, but for some reason they sat us right next to them).
I am a fan of this place. There was the fresh Italian bread with the hard crust and soft center and choice of butter or aioli. I ordered a pasta dish, but the others in my party ordered a salad and pork chops. Everyone in my party agreed we would come back. I am one for trying new places, so I am glad to find somewhere to want to come back to when I visit PA.
Review Source:Big, warm, friendly and delicious. I was surprised to see such a nice restaurant outside of the Pittsburgh city limits. This seems like a place where the focus is on the food.
I went in for lunch and the menu is only 1 page but the items were all spectacular. They were also very accommodating to my girlfriend's vegan needs without any hesitation. The service was perfect and the decor was spot on.
If you want to get a little "escape" for the usual all-too-causual restaurant scene then I would recommend this place. Reminded me of a place I would see in Newport Beach. My only complaint is that it's not closer to where I live!
P.S. Definitely get the hummus appetizer. Everywhere in Pittsburgh offers hummus but this appetizer stands out.
Tuesday I went to Siba for dinner. The place was quite full, but they were able to seat me immediately, although I did not have a reservation. I noticed that there were families, and several groups of, what looked like office parties. I like to see a variety of peoples in a restaurant as it allows me to be comfortable to dine by myself.
After being seated the trouble began. I sat for quite a while at my table with nobody coming by to offer a drink, water, bread or whatever. I was totally ignored until a waitress decided, out of the goodness of her heart, to take on the table.
I found out that my table was not assigned. In addition, I noticed that my waitress had half of a big room to take care off, so she was definitely spread very thin and it showed.
I ordered the crab cakes, a house specialty. They come with 2 sauces and jalapeno corn bread on the side. At first taste the crab cakes were delicious, full of big lump pieces, but the more I ate the more they tasted of mayonnaise and the mouthfeel became greasy. The corn bread was greasy and tasteless. Thank goodness I had a pretty decent glass of wine which helped with the meal.
If the restaurant would have spend as much time on food preparation as they spend on advertising their local, sustainable and so on it probably would have been a better experience.
The final insult came when they overcharged for the wine. After I pointed it out the bill was adjusted, but it is not something which should have happened, specially as the prices are programmed into the computer and  all the staff has to do is type in the wine name.
Breaking bread with friends, Siba style. Â Good rib-sticking food on a cold winter night. Â The restuarant wasn't crowded, but it was a cold winter night with snow falling. Â We started with the Crispy Calamari and Signature Shrip Bruschetta (word of advice: if you are getting the Bruschetta, leave off of the bread before hand. Â The toast for the Bruschetta is huge and is slathered in the creme sauce). Â Next came the Signature Salad, which while good, wasn't overly large. Â Finally came the entrees: steaks all around with the exception of one Panko Crusted Chilean Seabass. Â All said there steaks and prime rib were cooked very well to order (from medium rare to medium well). Â The Seabass was also melt in your mouth good. Â Not much of a review for the Italian fare, but again, the beef and fish satisfied us.
Review Source:Something's changed here. Â Used to be outstanding service, fine food, and it was quite a wait to get in without a reservation. Â Not any more. Â The waiter was inattentive....and I don't think there was much communication with the kitchen. Â What a shame! Â The food was okay, not great. Â There were 8-10 tables empty at 7:00 p.m. on a Saturday night. Â Hmmmm, looks like I'm/we're not the only ones disappointed. Â The best thing of the night was a sweet tea vodka mojito...and it was outstanding, but not enough to go back for the food again. Â Darn.
Review Source:Started out with the bruschetta with shrimp in it. Â Too die for! Â And the lobster bisque soup with a filo dough on top and sherry poured in it was out of this world! Â The entrees were large and very good too. Â Our waitress was very friendly and prompt. Â Great atmosphere. The owner showed us around when she found out it was our first time dining at Siba's. Â I will definitely be back.
Review Source:One of our favorite restaurants in pittsburgh...I had the chicken piccata with basil pesto linguini and for the appetizer we had the shrimp bruschetta. Â The shrimp bruschetta has larger shrimp in a tangy sauce with bread and very delicious...The piccata chicken was breaded and cooked to perfection....very tasty and would recommend..great atmosphere
Review Source:For starters.... the bread. Nice crisp crust with a perfectly soft middle. Pure greatness.
And on to appetizers.... Bruschetta sampler was delicious but not good for sharing with more than three people. Needless to say, it was great. The hummus sampler was also great - the pita bread was perfectly sized and seasoned and the hummus selection was great.
Now, for the main dish.... I ordered the seared ahi tuna with the signature salad. Let me just say that I have not had a better salad in quite a while - it was super! The tuna was good, but the bites were a little small which made it a little tough. Nevertheless, it was still good. Other dishes around the table included a wood-fired pepperoni pizza, which looked good enough to make me get a bad case of food envy. The lobster BLT also looked great and did not disappoint. I forgot the name of the spicy pasta dish, but the two people who ordered it at my table really liked it.
The only negative aspect about this experience was the SLOW service. Our waiter was all over the place and it took us 20 minutes just to get our check. He didn't even check back with us to refill our drinks - not even once! He also was not very good at listening to our orders, which meant we had to repeat ourselves multiple times.
Mmmm... warm, crusty fresh bread with the garlic and herb butter..... I could eat  just that and be totally satisfied!
Our group of 10 experienced fantastic service, as we all arrived at different times. Each time a new person joined our table, our waiter promptly brought over water and took their drink order. Great selection of apps, salads (small and large), wood fired pizzas, pasta dishes as well as larger seafood and steak entrees. The angel hair pasta with arribiata sauce, shrimp and lobster was delicious! Perfectly portioned with plenty of seafood for the $18 price tag. The wine was pricy per glass ($11 for Sauv Blanc?), but the wine glasses were on the larger size.
If we didn't have an agenda after dinner, I would have loved to hang around for some of the live music....great song selection and cute guy singing!!
This review is probably long overdue since this is one of my favorite places to eat in the area. Between my husband and I we have had multiple dishes and have always been amazed at the flavors and the quality/ freshness of the food. Whatever you are in the mood for...you can't go wrong here: classic brick oven pizzas, savory pasta dishes, incredibly fresh fish, or even a nice rack of lamb...it is all really tasty! They have a really great wine menu as well and great apps too. P.s. in the summer you can enjoy dining outdoors with the band and lights strung up outside or in the winter around the fire by the bar. Great ambiance for any occasion. Enjoy!
Review Source:My husband and I had big plans to eat downtown for our first anniversary, but my parents requested that we stay closer to home in case the baby needed me... which took us to Siba. The food is good, just nothing special. Their method of making food taste good seems to be adding a whole lot of cheese (and don't get me wrong, I LOVE cheese) to make the food really RICH. I personally like food to be well seasoned with spices and herbs, not loaded with cheese. The stuffed mushrooms tasted like nothing but goat cheese, and although goat cheese IS delicious, I can buy a log of it at the grocery store for half the price of the appetizer.
And having hummus on your menu doesn't make you "Mediterranean." The menu is mostly Italian, but there are also some Asian (cashew chicken salad with ginger soy dressing) and Spanish (gazpacho) influences.
Where the hell is the entrance? Â I walked into a barbar shop and I think a tanning salon, before I found the entrance, which turns out is not that complicated except it's one huge brown building with half a dozen businesses and a dozen doors to enter. Â For the record, the main door is in the side of the building not facing the highway towards the front. Â Okay, walk in and nice big burning fireplace to my left, big windows facing the beautiful concrete jungle that is cranberry and a big bar to my right with leather lounge seating in back. Â It's pretty crowded for a Tuesday night, but room at the bar where I'm able to sit next to my friend, Tom. Â The tile is an orangish color and this place inside and out seems like it would be more at home in Santa Fe not Cranberry. Â The wine by the glass selection is okay and I try a "toasted" something, chardonnay. Â It's $10 and not bad. Â The crowd is mostly business types wearing the uniform of the weary businessman, unbottoned neck, sloppy tie, and beer spilled on the shirt. Â Mike arrives and we all are seated promptly without a reservation in a large booth with a view of the open kitchen. Â The lighting is not overly dark and private. Â This is perfect for a business dinner. Â The waiter stops by promptly and takes our drink orders, didn't really walk us through a wine or beer selection. Â So, we ordered more of the same, beer, chardonnay, and cabernet. Â All acceptable and reasonably priced. Â We start with a classic bruschetta, which was okay, but the bread was a bit too soggy and not toasted well and the mozzarella was of only about average quality. Â The stuffed hot peppers were pretty good, not too spicy, plenty of cheese and sausage, but again nothing too special. Â The pasta fagoil (sp?) was pretty good. Â It had plenty of beans, al dente' pasta and a nice broth. Â The bread was below average. Â It was cold and didn't even seem of giant eagle quality. Â The butter was flavored with something spicy, but we never got a description. Â It was okay. Â The time difference between apps' and entrees' was about an hour. Â The manager and waiter came over a couple of times to apologize. Â They said the first time they cooked my steak it was overcooked. Â I didn' t mind the wait because there was still business to be done. Â And, it turned out my reasonably priced 14 oz. ribeye (23.95 incluing soup) was cooked perfectly and very flavorful. Â This was an above average steak cooked perfectly. Â They served it with some grilled asparagus, which was cooked fine and tasted okay, but I prefer the really big asparagus not these tiny ones. Â Tom had the lobster mac'. Â It looked really rich and cheesy, but lacked any real distinguishable pieces of lobster. Â He said it was okay. Â Mike had the lamb chops, which he said were cooked well and served with some type of cream pepper demi' glace. Â I tried them and they were good. Â The roasted potatotes were also pretty good. Â This place is probably a good spot for happy hour and has a good menu for Atrias type prices. Â I also think the Chef Jamie Irvine used to work at Pines tavern, so he has good pedigree'. Â If I'm in Cranberry and my choice is TG McFunsters or this place. Â I'll choose this place.
Review Source:On my trips home, I've driven past here a million times and the beautiful exterior always made a good impression so I've tucked it away as a venue for a special drinks/dining occasion. Â Such an occasion recently happened with a few friends and we popped over for a few cocktails. Â We arrived at the tail end of happy hour, which featured $5 martinis and beer specials. Â I was with my dearest childhood friend who is a bit of a country girl and having just come off from the SATC movie, I passed on my standard vodka tonic and ordered Cosmos for us to toast to. Â Well I had to pretend that they were decent. Â She moved on to an apple martini, which drinking made her hands a sticky mess. Â I moved on to the wine list, which was very disappointing and was a random collection of wines. Â None being very special and pricy for the area at $10 per glass. Â When another blast from the past showed up, he drank beer and ordered a few plates of calamari that in my opinion was over everything, over seasoned, over cooked and too tough, and just not good. Â Service was incredibly inconsistent and the wait time was substantial between rounds of drinks. Â Not likely that I'll return. Â Ever.
Review Source:This has a little of everything. A great space, beautiful interior. Food is very good, and for a variety of tastes. A wood-fired brick oven in an open kitchen, but not as noisy as some. Lunch menu is priced more reasonably than the dinner menu. Next door is their Market Cafe if you just want a sandwich or soup. Outdoor dining available on a deck or in the courtyard. Entertainment Wed-Sat evenings. Located on Rt. 228, 1 - 2 miles east of Cranberry.
