Good place to go if you have a group of people. There is something in the menu to satisfy every palette. I had the veggie quesadilla and it was really good! Fresh zucchini, mushrooms, corn, black beans, spinach and cheese. Nicely brown and crisp. Really yummy. My dad had the burger and said it was good. My son and daughter had chicken noodle soup and the it was not that good. Chicken was very, very dark. I picked most of it out because it didn't loom good. Otherwise the service was good and the atmosphere was pleasant.
Review Source:We enjoy the Side Door because it has a menu that pleases everyone. GREAT burgers, but no french fries (no fryer on premises). One of our party usually chooses a wrap sandwich and loves 'em all. Â Meatloaf or BBQ Pork Sandwiches always winners. For me, it's the smoked whitefish nachos or quesadilla. We like their salad selection too. Oddly, the only dinners we have enjoyed are the nightly specials, like spaghetti night (!), but I'm sure the $12 - $20 tuna, steaks, Whitefish and Salmon selections are equally wonderful. FRI & SAT prime rib. Â Fall and Winter, come in for the "in-house tailgating" snacks and beers during televised NFL football games.
Review Source:The Side Door has the best burgers in Northern Michigan, hands down. Â I recommend the Big Momma, but the Side Door will fill any palate too. Â They're juicy and served very fast. Â Tortilla soup and chili are also very good. Â This place is a great place to watch a game provided you can get a good seat. Â They've got an enormous TV and a couple of small ones, but the place gets crowded quickly on weekends during busy seasons because it's close to a lot of the resorts and vacation homes. Â Beer selection is good and prices are reasonable but not cheap. Â The Side Door used to be a pretty seedy place back in the day, a real saloon if you will, but the new owner has gotten a solid drink and food menu up and created a lively atmosphere. Â The downside of that of course is the touristy atmosphere. Â The burgers are worth it though.
