We've been coming to this lodge annually so the kids can see the snow. Â A family once owned it.. now a new non-profit runs the lodge! Â Same great service, food and hospitality. Â It's been under new ownership since September 2012. Â We totally recommend the place to all of our bay area friends traveling up I-80 to see the snow.
Review Source:I was very excited to stay here while on a fly fishing trip in the area. Â It is close to both the American and Yuba rivers. Â Made a reservation without a hitch.
When I showed up at about 10 PM (had been on the water all day), the place was dark. Â No one home. Â Evidently you cant check in other than during normal business hours. Â Parked, walked around, called, nothing.
So, had to drive 30 miles to Truckee and pay more for a hotel that probably wasnt nearly as nice. Â I dont mind small town places that close early, but the person who took my reservation could have mentioned that if I dont get there by...well I dont know when because they didnt tell me...then I didnt have a place to stay. Â Late at night and tired, I didnt appreciate the 30 mile drive to Truckee, and the 30 mile drive back in the morning to fish 5 miles from the hotel.
After all the reviews I was very excited to stay here...never got the chance. Â I dont remember whether I gave a credit card number but I will not be happy if I get charged.
I just happen to come across this lodge while browsing the Yelp! It looked like a fun and relaxing place to spend a night or 2. The location is remote if you are from a big city, but if rest and relaxing are what you are looking for this is the place. The prices are reasonable, around $110 a night. Perfectly decent rooms. There is TV, but I didn't come here to watch TV. I even left the lap top at home......I know, it was hard not to Yelp while I was away here! It's an easy drive over from Reno and was a good opportunity to spend some quiet time with my BF, and just slow down a bit from the usual high speed life that we lead. There is a restaurant for dinner here at the lodge, so that really nice not to have to drive anywhere. Our stay was uneventful as far as the lodge goes...that's a good thing! No broken pipes, dirty sheets or creepy crawly things on the walls. I would like to return sometime!
