Wife has wanted to give this place a shot for a time. Finally hit it tonight. The reviews have been brutal, so I actually went in looking for disappointment. Which sucks because it retards the experience.

Anyway I was super vigilant about being critical for no reason. But, that said, I was still looking for slips.

First impression - walking in it's clean and quite un-diner. In this case a plus. Most diner/pancake joints have a certain look. This place has it's own, probably owing to the fact that it was previously a Hooters. While some of the old use shows through it is not awkward. They did a good job in repurposing what was there and cut a style in of their own.

Our server, Alex, seemed like a decent guy. Was on top of his rounds and made the trips to make sure we were in good order during our meal. If I have a complaint, and it wasn't a big deal, probably my own hang up, he called my wife "hon" once too many times. Again, probably me, but there it is...

Food was good. I got the eggs benedict. Solid poached eggs with some Canadian bacon on english muffins. Hollandaise sauce was so-so. Mine came out first because there was a problem with her order. So, two things on this, mine came out first, and only warm, but cooling fast because the a/c was kicking in the building. This meant I HAD to eat prior to my wife, lest mine became stone cold.

Stone cold eggs benedict are not good.

She got the, not sure of the menu proper name, cheese cake pancakes. She enjoyed them. Actually a lot. Good size. Hot. Could have used a bunch more butter on top. A preference of my wife, I suppose. She does like her butter. However, syrup caliber and quantity was a miss for a place that says pancake house on the sign. Now, you don't have to do six carafes of flavors like IHOP, but do get a strong syrup to compliment your signature plates.

Price was right. $30.00 for the two of us, tip included, was fine. They took cards. Doesn't have wifi. A point I look for now that smartphones are ubiquitous. Especially if your establishment is in a choppy cell reception zone.

Bottom line - three stars. Left full and satisfied. Did not feel cheated, or, that I found my next must-eat-at place.

As far as the other reviews, perhaps they were to new when they came through. There are some quirks to iron out, but nothing egregious here.

Our 2nd visit to this diner and what a disappointment! I felt like breakfast so I ordered a Belgian Waffle with cranberries and nuts. What can go wrong? Apparently quite a bit. First, when my order came the plate had not one waffle but 4. The problem was not one of them was a Belgian Waffle. They were 4 very thin regular waffles. When I pointed this out to the waitress she said yes, that was their Belgian Waffle. I had to tell her what a Belgian waffle was and finally she agreed they are usually much thicker and light and fluffy. The cranberries were not in the waffle but scattered on top and were hard and chewy. The waitress did not offer to take the plate back and get me a real Belgian waffle. At the end of dinner the waitress did say there must have been a mix up as she had seen Belgian waffles come out of the kitchen other times. Not sure if this was all her mistake or the kitchen's.  My husband had London broil -very bland, too much fat on it, and the vegetables were overdone.
The waitress did say she would not charge full price for my meal. We both had coffee and she said she wouldn't charge for the coffee. We thought she meant both coffees - wrong. Just mine, which she put on the back of the check instead of with the other food items. We had to call her back to explain her very confusing check. Don't think we'll be back!

What a terrible experience! My family and I will never return.

The host couldn't seem to figure out where to seat us so that we didn't have to sit in the direct sun by the window since there are no shades.

Our food didn't come out at the same time so some of us were eating while others were waiting.

    My husbands order was wrong.

My food was horrific. The appetizer dish I ordered, Slims Mess (ironically accurate name) said it came with nachos. It came with a pile of tortilla chips, undercooked jalepeno poppers, and fries covered in cheese that was like plastic. I sent the fries back asking for cheddar cheese that I assumed they would come with in the first place since the cheese fries on the menu stated that's what they came with. They came back with the same plastic cheese. I told the server to just take them back because I wasn't going to eat them. Another server came over with the plate and felt the need to tell me that it was American cheese. When the fries finally came out with cheddar cheese it was slightly melted on top and cold underneath. All this for a plate of cheese fries. The wings were good but the blue cheese (which I had to request) was like no other blue cheese I've ever tasted. I asked my husband to taste it and he agreed that it was awful. Like sour cream dip. After the French fry debacle yet another server came over and asked if we were ok. We didn't see anyone for a while and the last server finally came over again. I asked if our first server was on break and was told she was sent home due to too many errors.

I'm sure there is more but it was about two weeks ago and I've tried to erase the whole bad experience from my memory.

The host didn't even bother to ask how everything was because he knew we had a bad experience and no one chose to do anything about it.
