Stopped in after the Bellingham marathon with a big group.  Sat us pretty quickly for a busy day.  The food and drink service was slow, but we were a big group.  Staff was friendly and food was perfect pub menu so that made up for the timeliness.

My wife and I went on the Saturday Labour Day weekend on a recommendation. I was a little nervous about a long line up at 7pm on a Saturday but we were seated right away. The waitress came promptly to take our drink order and the drinks came promptly and the waitress took our order. Our food came promptly as well. I ordered the bangers and mash. The sausages were only warm but tasty. The mash was great. Hot, lot's of it with a nice gravy and fried onions. My wife ordered the BBQ pulled pork. The menu didn't make it clear it was a on a bun. The cole slaw was a very small portion, the fries were OK and I thought the BBQ pulled pork could have been piled a bit higher but my wife said it was tender and tasty. The beer was fine but I am not a beer connoisseur.
Overall, we were very impressed with t the service and happy with the food. I would come again.

Don't go if you have a large party. We called in advanced to reserve a table so that was set up....but not with place settings or anything. In fact they had another large party over ten next to ours with just the one server for both. Needless to say we did not have speedy or complete service..friendliness and communication was kept to just what was necessary . I served our water and silverware. I have eaten here on a few occasions and it was good...tonight was not one of them. Our food was cold and kinda tasteless and served without much fanfare. The biggest disappointment was the mussels and clams. You get a handful with a tiny bit of broth and very dry bread. It was not up to their standards. I think Denny's would have had better food and service. For less money! :(

***** I have to give them props. They promptly called today to see how they could fix this situation for me and to let me know they were sorry for my unhappy visit. In the past I have always had wonderful food and great service so I am guessing this was just a very off night for them. Will have to go back when I come home :)

You like Beer? You like wood fired pizza?  Then why are you reading this review and not making your way over here? Visiting from Chicago and sampled two flights of their beers and guest beers.  From light to dark, bitter to sweet, they were all great and went very well with my Mt. Shuksen pizza.  Clearly wood fired in hell because the guy who created that sold his soul to the devil.

Great pub atmosphere. Even though we didn't take advantage of the beer offerings, we had a great time!

Our waitress, Caitlyn (Kaitlyn?), was excellent! it seems like more often than not when you go into a 'brewery' of any kind and avoid ordering alcohol, you get the brush-off. Not here! She was a great server.

We started with the Jalapeno Artichoke Dip. It was great. Worth the trip right there. We had two sandwiches, which were both really good. The fries were crisp and hot.

All in all, it was a good experience, and I suspect I'll be back frequently.

Note: Always check Yelp's 'Filtered Reviews.' One of the businesses I reviewed has a 1-star rating with only 1 review, but there are 5 'filtered' (hidden) reviews averaging 4.8 stars!

I've been to the Skagit River Brewery a number of times and things were usually fine. But my boyfriend and I decided to go enjoy a pizza and beer on a nice sunny day and as a result of the service (or lack thereof), it's unlikely we'll go back.
We went inside to check in with the host who told us we could have a seat at any table out on the deck. We picked a table and he gave us menus. Then we sat there. No one came to even take our drink order. Mind you they were not busy at the time. Another couple came and sat at a nearby table and a server went to help them almost immediately. The other customers even told the server that we'd been sitting there first, but the server didn't seem to care. She brought them out their beers, and at that time a couple more people joined that table. She took their drink orders and continued to ignore us. After sitting for a good 15 minutes without so much as a glass of water we decided to just leave. The server saw us walking out and didn't say one word to us. No apology, no "be right with you". Nothing. I could believe how badly we were treated. SRB definitely missed out as we were both going to order beer, pizza and salads, AND we had 2 growlers we were planning to fill as well.
We went over to the Porterhouse instead and got fast, friendly service and were happy to give them the $80 we would have spent at the Skagit River Brewery had we not been so rudely ignored.

We've eaten here twice now, and the food is really good! I've had a burger and now I've also had the shepherd's pie. Both meals were fantastic, and the beer is pretty good, too.

But, the service is inconsistent. Last time was fantastic, but this one was horrible. The hostess let us choose our seat, and we would have enjoyed the deck outside, but as it was full, we sat pretty much in the center of the dining area, and were ignored for almost 15 minutes before I went and asked the hostess if our server knew we were there. Instant service then, but after we got our food, we didn't see her again until our plates and glasses were empty.

We'll go back, but I hope the service improves.

The average star rating is exactly right for this location. The beer is ok, not the best nor the worst, but nothing special. The food is about average, although we did have spoiled salad dressing on salad.  The only thing stopping me from dropping it to 2 stars is friendly service. Most likely would not return.

My boyfriend and I stopped in here after a trip to the see the tulips.  There was about a 30 minute wait at noon on a weekend in April and they definitely seemed like they did not often have a wait.  We kept seeing delicious looking plates of nachos, which we didn't end up getting but maybe we should have!

Once we were seated, we had a great really friendly server.  We ordered beers.  When our server returned, he brought my boyfriend's beer but said they were out of the one I ordered and recommended another two options.  He offered to bring samples for both of them, which I greatly appreciated.  In the end I got the Del Rio, which was okay but still had a bit of a bitterness to it.  My boyfriend's "Cold Beer" Lager was very hoppy and bitter.  I also tried the black cherry cider, which was good, but cider is so sweet that it tastes like drinking juice!

For food, I had the California Chicken Ciabatta and my boyfriend had the Caboose burger.  The food arrived quickly.  My sandwich was okay.  It wasn't very saucy and the chicken was a bit dry.  The fries were good, though.  My boyfriend's burger was really good.  The BBQ sauce was very flavorful.

Overall, the restaurant was cute.  The service was great.  The beer was not that great (if you're not into the hoppy, bitter thing) and the food was okay.  We're from out of town, but wouldn't see any reason to return if we were visiting Mt. Vernon.

Their beer and food are meh. I've had numerous of their beers and while I wouldn't pour it out (which I do on occasion) I certainly don't seek it out.

Service was good and its a really good place to hang out with friends.

I just wasn't enthused about this place. The bar area is pretty small so when the other half and I sat at a table, these 3 bigger guys sat next to us. They made a huff because they could not squeeze to get into the tables. So that was annoying.

The beer was meh. It tasted like a pathetic home brew. The IPA didn't have much hops in it and it was really malty. The porter was plain.

Food was meh. My burger was well done but the other half had the pulled pork which did have some flavor to it.

Will I go back? Nah, it's not worth the gas money to drive 2 hours into the middle of nowhere.

Excellent beer selections, and pub fare food that hit the spot when we were on the trek from Whidbey Island heading back to Everett.  We looked up and there was the Skagit River Brewing Company.  The IPA's on tap were excellent and the fish tacos hit the spot as well.  Rustic, wooden setting near the nearby railroad tracks gives the place a western, frontier feel in a good way.  Staff was pleasant, friendly and helpful. Overall a 4 star - we were seated in the front of the dining room, it was night time, and the front door was left open to work on the locks, giving us a cold blast of air while we ate dinner.  Apparently, the place had been broken into the night before and the locks needed changing during business hours.  Wait till closing time to change the locks!

Watched the Super Bowl and ate dinner. The Caboose Burger is awesome! Other than the burgers or maybe some bbq, it's hard to find something meaty and solid on the menu. We didn't really care for the nacho special they were offering. Great beer selection, though.

The service presented us with a few challenges. The waitress brought me the wrong order, on the first try. Also, she brought my wife the wrong drink, which also happened the last time we were here. For the hat trick, she brought us somebody else's bill. But she was very polite. And chatty.

My fiance and I took a two day trip from Lynnwood over to Whidbey Island and around to Mt. Vernon. We wanted to visit some of the local wineries, antique stores and some craft breweries. We stopped at Skagit River Brewing on the way back home and got a bite to eat. Our waitress was Abbey who was absolutely great. She explained the brews available and didn't make us feel rushed to decide what we would want to eat. We had the Trumpeter Stout and REALLY liked it, We decided to get a growler fill of the stout to take home and also one of the pounder glasses. We will definately reccomend this place to friends and add this to our "our must stop" list the next time we are up north. The brew and food got our attention and Abbey sold us on this place.

    Cheers

Skagit River Brewery is another great visit on the North Sound to stop in and try some really good beer. This particular time we stopped in to have a few samples and have an app. The restaurant is big and can accommodate a various size parties and the menu look rather appetizing. The only thing that we had was the Wood Fired Herb Bread which hit the spot. Another brewery that has various styles of beer to fit any palette from the regular styles to the seasonals. Check it out!

Needed a quick dinner before heading to a concert & the place we originally walked into was full but recommended Skagit River Brewery

Buddy #1 got the Shepherd's Pie & said it had WAY too much garlic & there was also cheese - both of which are *not* part of traditional shepherd's pie & she's from London so she should know..... in fact, she couldn't even finish it b/c of the overabundance of garlic & she's a garlic fan so that's saying something

Sis had snacked on the way up to Skagit so she chose the Sundried Tomato Hummus Platter - wedges of pita, black olives & hummus.  She liked the hummus okay - not in love but didn't hate it

I chose the Mac n Cheese & there was a ton of bechamel, cheesy goodness surrounding the tri-color twirly pasta.  Could only make a dent in about 10% of this dish it was so huge & rich but it was a delish dish & 1 I enjoyed the following day

Paired w/ their Skagit Brown Ale & we got in, got out & got onto our concert

And given we had 1 hate, 1 meh, okay & 1 OMG delish, I felt an overall 3-Stars was about right

Cute little place! Nothing amazing or out of the ordinary, just your typical American bar food, but definitely tasty. There were quite a few options on the menu I wanted but I settled for a veggie burger.

I could eat the waffle fries forever, but I also LOVE fries so that should surprise no one. The burger was good as well, although I had specifically requested no mayo (it's the devil's food) and they gave me mayo - and left it off my friend's burger. We switched buns to avoid sending anything back and it was fine.

I'm never up in this area, but I'll definitely remember this place in case I end up in this neck of the woods again.

Service was great, super quick and not overly friendly. I did ask for BBQ on the side and (against my nature and better judgement) I let him take it back to 'remove the bbq'. I was pleasantly suprized when I recieved a new plate of food (not beef with the BBQ scraped off!!)

Parking kinda sucked...but it is the Skagit Valley after all (was that snarky?)

    Good local brew, not great.
    Food was decent.
BBQ Chicken special was not bad.
    Wings were not that bad.
    Service was good.
    Spot was okay.

I have been here three times and enjoyed each visit.
    It's standard.

I must say I'm pretty surprised by the high ratings of this place, and especially the comments about the quality of the beer.

I took the family to the Tulip Festival last Saturday and popped into this place for a quick meal and drink beforehand.  The food was pretty much standard bar fare other than the kitchen was visible when we walked in and I'm not sure how this place passes the health code.  They have a fairly extensive beer menu and I tried one of their lagers and it was the most bitter beer I've ever had.  To their credit, they swapped it out for a Hefeweizen, which was marginally better - the best way I know to describe it was like Bud Light mixed with orange juice.

All in all, for ~$50, I was not impressed.  I think there are probably better eating places in town.

Surprised this place has such good reviews.. Didn't eat though - just went for the beer. Which sucked.

No body. Like drinking colored water. Extremely disappointing, especially after we had JUST ordered some AMAZING beer up the road from North Sound Brewing.

Also, it wasn't cold which was weird.

Finally, one of our samples spilled RIGHT after we got it. The bartender was sweet and gracious about cleaning it up but didn't offer to refill it. Sorta bitter about that. I understand it's beer and beer is money but, a small sampler? Really? So, can't really tell you how the porter was.

Unless you're absolutely desperate, I'd say avoid. The beer was eh, okay - the food, was sub par.

We ordered the spinach jalapeño dip off of the appetizer menu. The outside was pipping hot, the inside cold. Then we split a pizza - just not good - the first thing that came to mind was DeGiorno's frozen. Bleh

Service was terrible as well. My husband tried to get the server to make a recommendation on beer and the server just stared at him.

Then another server was just walking around the restaurant, literally in circles, doing laps around all of the tables. This went on the entire time we were eating. Really annoying.

Visited Skagit River Brewery on a Wednesday evening to grab some dinner and sample their Ales.

I sat at a high top in the small bar area. My server was a young lady who was fairly new to the place - as she told me.

I ordered a "sampler" of their Pale Ales and IPAs - they apparently don't have a cool little serving device for a beer sampler - so she simply brought me three small glasses - containing their:

    - Helmet Pale Ale (5.2% ABV)
    - Sculler's IPA (7.2% ABV)
    - Gospel IPA (7.4% ABV)

They were out of their Porter, Farm-to-Market, and Washington's Wheat.

I really liked all three Ales. They all had varying degrees of delicious hoppiness combined with crisp, refreshing flavors - both IPAs had wonderful citrus and grapefruit notes to them.

After sampling the Ales, I ordered a pint of Helmut Pale Ale and the Fried Oysters appetizer.

Had I been rating Skagit River Brewery solely on the Ales, I probably would have given them a five. But the Oysters dragged the rating down a bit. They weren't bad, but they were pretty greasy.

Service was good. I'd come here again for the Ales and to try some other dishes.

Last night I went to the brewery with a couple friends and it was hands down the WORST experience I've ever had at any restaurant, anywhere. It was laughably obvious that the waitress (a rotund middle aged woman) just absolutely hated us.

    Highlights are as follows;
    - She saw us standing by the door and straight up ignored us for 10 minutes before we were seated.
    - Our food took about 40 minutes. They weren't busy at all, and a group that came in 15 minutes after us was brought their food way before us.
    - She gave us two waters. There were three of us.
    - I asked for no tomatos on my pasta. I got tomatos.

The entire thing was so petty and bizarre but we were being perfectly pleasant to her and just trying to make the best out of the situation. If I had to guess what her problem was- it's probably that we don't fit into the general "demographic" of people who usually go there. Anyway, definitely won't be coming back.

This review is to acknowledge the awesome service I received recently from a server on a Thursday night. The food and drinks were fine, nothing to write home about, but the server was so incredibly rad I have to give her a shout.

We came in as a group of three and had a bunch of questions and she was super patient and answered them all. I then asked her if she had any wheat free beer and instead of making me feel like a GF freak (which I know is a total pain in the ass for servers), she helped me find something I could drink on the beer menu, and then anticipated all of my GF needs without making me feel like a whiny asshole.

I worked as a server for a long time in a place much like Skagit River Brewery. And I can say that this lady was far better than I was at handling fussy people like us! Bravo, unnamed awesome lady!

We went back this weekend for some more good food. Cam ordered the same burger as last time, and I ordered their baby back ribs. Cam said the burger was just as good as last time. The ribs.... were weird. I'm not sure what kind of sauce was on them but it was just weird, and while the meat was falling off the bones, it was still a bit dry. It was also a very fatty cut of ribs.

I also ordered cider this time, and it was also NOT COLD. How hard is it?????? But, we'll be back. Those burgers are just too damn good.

I really enjoy this place. I try to stop here every time on my way up and down to refill my growler and grab a tasty pint.

They do REALLY good beer here. I went online to recall what beer I selected, they had a special "Gospel" IPA on tap and it was fantastically hoppy! Nothing to floral about this IPA, more strong citrus and earthy hops. It tasted like summer, which I heard may be on the way!

I normally stick with the Scullers IPA so it was fun that they had another option. Speaking of, every time I stop in they have something new. Thanks for keeping things interested! I'm also a big fan of the Skagit River "Steelie" Brown and their Highwater Porter, perfect to warm you up on those gray and dreary PNW days.

The food is tasty but nothing I'd rave about, plus it's a little expensive. I save tummy room for the beer here. The service is always attentive but not overwhelming, they're running a fine establishment! I suggest stopping in and filling up your own growler!

I had a great experience here with a large group of people from my cycling team.  I called and made a reservation for a Friday night for 6-8 people.  Then I called a few hours before and made it 8-10.  Then I called an hour before and said make it 10-12.  Every time they were totally accommodating and didn't bat an eye at my ever changing requests.  We were seated immediately when we got there.

Our server was spot on with all of our orders, gave great recommendations and didn't mess one thing up (even with all sorts of customizations and the large size of our party).  Each plate went to the right person, our waters were never empty and the food and beer was tasty.  When 5 more members of our team showed up they pulled up another table and sat them right next to us even though they were pretty busy.  The best part...the server offered to split up the tab and they didn't add an auto gratuity.  Smart because we all tipped him at least 25%.  He was that good.

I'd highly recommend this restaurant if you are looking for quality food and service for a group.

Came back here on my way down I-5 from a day out & about for a quick snack and a beer.

They still hold up the 4 stars.

    Service still good - Check
Cajun Crab Cakes still mouth watering - Check

Tried a new beer and OH YUM.
Had the Skagit River "Steelie" Brown Ale...  caramel, roast and chocolate flavors.
Never thought I'd like dark beers, but this one has definitely changed my mind.

If you are in Mount Vernon this is a must stop!
You can order a beer sampler for 7 bucks that definitely leaves you stumbling.
They have a great pulled pork sandwich.
The food is pretty pub style, but a step up. Very tasty.
    The staff is great.
    Prices are original.
Great prices on growlers, with a beer of your choice!

We made a perfectly timed diner stop here on a Sunday after a brutal hike on Mt. Baker.

There food was original, like the wood fired herb bread loaded with shredded Parmesan, rosemary and parsley. My diner of breaded oyster was to die for. Each one plump and tender, cooked to perfection. They topped it off with mashed potatoes and even threw in a salad. I was in a taste bud massage parlor!

A Highwater porter was the drink of choice. What a full bodied beer with a nice smokey flavor, a little hoppy snap to it and perfect head. The Skuller's IPA was HOPPY, nice and bitter, oh, and strong!

    Well done Guys!!!!

*****Side note, don't get too relaxed here, the Mount Vernon cop shop is right next door*****

I found this place completely by accident one night on my way home from Deception Pass.  We were driving aimlessly around Burlington and Mt. Vernon for a decent enough sounding place to grab some food and beer.  My beer radar must have been guiding me, because this place isn't in a very easy to find location for someone who doesn't know Mt. Vernon at all.

In my "surprise new brewery" enthusiasm, I ordered a pint each of the porter, scotch ale, and IPA.  All three were superb.  I ordered a standard bacon cheese burger with a side cup of beef stroganoff.  The beef stroganoff was so fantastic, I had a full bowl for dessert.  I purchased a few of their growlers while I was at it too just to keep on with my splurge.

Having this brewery in that area has been great for me as I'm up there for my outdoorsy recreation quite a bit.  I've made it in to a regular stop, and always have a good experience.  I still can't bring myself to give it 5 stars, but it's a solid 4.5.

So, I found myself in Mount Vernon today around lunch time.  Not knowing where to go for a good lunch, the Skagit River Brewery seemed like a promising prospect.  I wasn't quite sure if it was actually open from street's view.  There was a neon sign saying open but a sign hanging by the front door saying closed.  Lucky for us, it was open.

It was actually pretty good too.  I went with the Blue Cheese Garden Burger and a cup of Chicken Enchilada soup.  Both were tasty and left me feeling satisfied.

Now, I don't know when the next time I'll be back in Mount Vernon (probably not anytime soon), but if I do, I'll know for next time, this place is a safe bet.

Also, next time, hopefully I won't be officially working and be able to try one of their many deliciously local micro brewed beer selections.  The Skagit Porter is 9.2 % alcohol.  Now, that'll put some hair on your chest!

I love the fact that the trains roar by.  The first time this happened it scared the crap out of me, but it really adds some character to this place.  The ESB is pretty good, but it almost has too much going on.
The local bratwurst sandwich was pretty good. The sauerkraut was very good, not stinky at all and had a good vinegar-y flavor.  The chicken sandwich was very bland.
Bottom line: go for the beer and tolerate the food. Maybe something was good that we didn't try.

I love the fact that the tracks are right next door - that is what is cool about the Boo-ry.  I love to get the sampler - their beer is so pretty.  The food here is hearty pub food and will surely fill you up.

They should keep this place open later at night and have more/regular live music to utilize the gorgeous space better.  I went here once on St. Patrick's Day and danced to a great Irish band.  It was so fantasic.  Also their Octoberfest w/ the oopmah band is so fun too.
