I've eaten at both this location and the one in Maryville. I will NEVER go back to the one in Knoxville. We came with a large party for a birthday. The restaurant had been called and a large table had been arranged, as well as a time. When we arrived, the group had to wait an hour to be seated. Mind you, we'd arrived a half hour before the reservation, but the tables hadn't been set up. Once we were seated it took another half hour to have the wait staff take our drink order, and another half hour before the drinks were served. Finally our food order was taken. After another half an hour (with no drink refills food started dribbling out of the kitchen. I was the designated driver and actually had to go to the  wait staff's podium and refill my own tea. By the time our food arrived, the rest of the party's food had been completely eaten. My meal was stone cold, the steak sitting in a gelid pool of fat. At that point I was so hungry I would have eaten the table. The appetizer never arrived. Once I signaled the waiter and told him about the temperature of the food and the missing appetizer, he just shrugged. At least when the bill finally arrived the appetizer had been taken off the bill. The manager never showed up despite my asking to speak with him several times. Despite the horrible service at this restaurant, the Maryville one is great.

Pretty good food, my kids loved the pretzels and wings, although their sweet and spicy was a bit too spicy for them. Their IPA was lacking some hops for my husbands taste. I had their cucumber martini thing, which was a little sweet, but the second one I just asked for a little less sweet and it was good. I had the rib eye, it was cooked a perfect medium, but was kinda tough. I also wasnt impressed with their garlic, while it sounded good, it seemed like an after thought that they added on at the end, reminded me of that jarred chopped garlic, which I dont care for, and it wasnt really grilled in. Mashed potatoes were good. Super friendly attentive staff.

The only reason I'm giving this place 3 stars is because of the service.

I ordered a portobello salad and it was terrible. We also ordered spinach dip for our table as an appetizer and it literally tasted like it came out of a can. The food sucked...but the service was good.

So. First restaurant in TN for me, and after  a long day of moving what do I decide for dinner? A brewery. Smoking mountain brewery (I'm guessing is one of the breweries in Knoxville and no where else) has a restaurant and a full set of beers. Coming from Charlotte, majority of microbreweries was just drinking and no food.

Inside, you'll find a stage, a good amount of tv's, and the noise is loud and boisterous. So I'm going to list what I ordered, I think that's the best way to give what to look for.

    Beer:
I ordered their Appalachian Pale Ale. Thoughts? I felt like it was kind of light, for a PA. But, then again I'm guessing that's what they were going for a springy fresh type of beer that's refreshing. That's what I thought, not really bitter, just a hint of the hops and then the after taste... Refreshing.

    Entree:
I ordered the Philly Cheesesteak. And for $10, it was filling. It came with one side and I got the Mac n cheese. So the Philly, good amount of meat. I think the highlight of this was the bread. They make it fresh daily, and it tasted and felt like it. The Mac n cheese I didn't think was as good as the good ol' Macs in Charlotte (search for the review!) but it was definitely cheesy.

Overall, I thought this place was pretty neat. The service wasn't bad, considering I've seen a lot worse. The only thing to mention to the staff is that 3 people don't need to help one person, but who knows maybe they're new on the job. Definitely going to bookmark this place to come back and try their other beers.

I had the steak, can't remember the but it was marinated in their Cherokee beer and it was pretty good. Service was great and they were very nice. Food came out hot.

Since this place was a knockout the first time, we went back. The Alr steak was great as usual, but the spiced butter was really cold and hard this time and never melted over the steak. If you haven't tried their pretzels, you should. The beer cheese that comes with them is awesome.

I have only been here for their beers, which was 2 for 1 at reverse happy hour that started at 10 pm. I was really looking forward to their brews, but all the beers I had was disappointingly flavorless and not cold enough. All were pretty light for my tastes.

The venue was quite busy, which was a nice atmosphere for being in a strip mall.

This brief review is based on a post-football-loss-only-thing-that's-open meal. We may not have been in the best of spirits going in. You've been warned.

We were seated on the patio even though it was pretty chilly, but that was per our request since the [terrible] band inside was unacceptably loud. Not that it helped, we could still barely hear each other even though a brick wall and metal doors separated us from them.

The atmosphere was definitely more bar than restaurant, which isn't really what we were looking for.

Overall the food was average, at best, as was the service.
The pretzels with beer cheese were pretty good... my pizza, however, was NOT.

    At least there was beer.

Great beers and great food!  I was unfortunately not able to get as much of the former as I'd planned.  My wallet had been stolen the week prior and as such I was unable to produce ID for my beer.  Now, I'm 38 and look every single day of it, so it was nice to get carded (for once), but it wasn't as nice to actually get turned down.  In any case, the food was delicious, and the waitress was only doing her job by carding me.

Great sports bar and I loved the beer.  Great, attentive service.  Flat screen tv's everywhere and they had them all labeled for the games.  That said, one of the best pizzas I have ever had.  This place is a winner.

Pretzels and beer cheese are always a must! They only serve their home brewed beer, I have to suggest the Cherokee Red! It's delicious! Awesome place to come eat in the patio, have a beer and watch the game.

Lots of TVs for football. Beer that is "alright".  service.

Smoky Mountain Brewery & Restaurant left me with that standard "meh" feeling. To sum it up in a few words - it was good. Not great. Not terrible. I like to think of it as something like a Ram Brewery in Chicago. Smoky Mountain just didn't leave me with the warm and fuzzies.

The menu had a ton of options, although I felt it to be somewhat bipolar. There were bar type appetizers, pizza, Italian dishes, BBQ, and a variety of subs and sammies. My dining partner and I both went for salads and BBQ. I was craving chicken and he was thinking ribs. We both decided the chicken was superior and the ribs left little of an impression. We also had a beer sampler. I was fairly impressed by some of their brews - which is shocking since I'm not a beer kinda girl.

The service was great. Our waitress was so friendly and accommodating ((I swear, there's something to be said about how people treat each other in the south)). The service was also very fast, and prices were reasonable.

The atmosphere was very lively, and if I hadn't been so exhausted I probably would have stuck around for the live entertainment. Although I dined in the restaurant itself, the obvious hot spot was the outdoor patio right outside of the bar. I also love seeing the brewery itself, separated from the restaurant by a wall of glass. ((I'm easily entertained))

    Overall - solid 3 stars.

I don't gush over Smoky Mountain Brewery, but the place really serves it's purpose. The brews they offer are from Calhoun's and  pretty good ( I like the velas helles the best), there are TVs everywhere, and it's perfect for happy hours. They actually have a calendar grid of drink specials and it's always funny to watch people try to match movies with quotes during trivia night. Really, the more I think about it, the place is really a very high functioning man-cave disguised as a sport's bar.

Food not good 1 star or less. I tried the Philly cheese steak the server said she was from Philadelphia and it was authentic cheese steak the truth is its nothing close. First she lied but the problems is the steak was way over cooked and dry; fries way to salty but this is my fault and should have said no salt.

Beer 3.5 or 4 star. started with the IPA no major issues just lacked body and I prefer more hop notes but that's a personnel preference. Stout was very good lots of chocolate with a hint of coffee; highly recommended.

I would go back for a pint but skip the poorly prepared food.  This would be a great place for sports fans lots of TV's.

They have an excellent local micro-brew selection and the food is good as well. The service is also top-notch here thanks to Jeff and his crew!

Probably great if your a tourist. If you from the hills it is a trailer park rendition. Plastic bricks in 4X8 sheets and fake tree bark. Their craft beer seems to be chemically brewed for that acid taste in the back of you tounge. I believe all the food to be frozen elsewhere and fried upon ordering.  There are places that I enjoy enough to not amke the trip back here again.

Amazing Rubin Sandwich. Pretty-good-OK-fine house brews; I wish they had a deeper flavor profile. Seemed like way too much effort for too little difference between beers. They sell beer-to-go; cooler had single bottles and mini kegs.

Huge number of TVs; rowdy crowd for Sunday Night Football.

Same high quality beers and food as their Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge locations.  The service is quite a bit better here - maybe because their clientele consists of more locals than tourists, so repeat business is more important.

Surprised at the quality of the pizza. Toppings were plentiful and excellent. Beers were good, perhaps because the Packers won!

As a microbrewery I give it 4 stars as a restaurant it gets 3. The options were vast and sounded delicious. I had a chicken cheese philly which was pretty good, not outstanding but tasty enough that I finished most of it. The beers were very delicious and plentiful. The service could have been better, faster and with more personality but it was game day and all of the employees were much more interested on what was going on on the bajillion tv screens then any of the patrons. If I return I will just check the nfl/nhl/mlb schedules before I arrive.

I've tried six of their beer styles, and not one possessed significant body or flavor to pass as a professionally-brewed beer. In fact, they tasted remarkably like extract homebrews. The porter was the most offensive; it was watery and bitter all at once, with none of the sweetness or heavy mouthfeel a decent porter should offer. The pale ale was undistinguished and aimless, possessing nothing interesting in terms of tension between hop and malt profiles. The Cherokee Red was also singularly unappealing; it had a corny, cloying sweetness. Futhermore, it tasted like their tap lines aren't properly maintained. There was a distinct funk in each sample that suggested sour beer.

Decent food, good beer and if you are there ask for Dana as a bartender. She is amazing, totally on top of her game with great service. She makes any night there worth while. I recommend the Tuckaleechee, a great ale. The apps are great. Totally worth a visit and I am from out of state.

Great beer and atmosphere at this brew pub in Turkey Creek. They mill their own grain and you can check out the brewing process while you throw back a few cold ones in the bar. The Pale Ale has the perfect balance of citrus and hoppy flavors and I'll definitely go back for more.

Came here because we heard the ribs were delish. The hubby ordered the ribs while I ordered the Philly Cheesesteak.

Two thumbs up on the Philly and a negative rating on the ribs. The ribs weren't "fall off the bone" tender and the sauce was forgettable. Maybe we're biased to Western BBQ and different Southern BBQ or maybe it's just our general dislike for pork BBQ but this just didn't do it for us. We favor beef BBQ such as beef ribs and tri tip.

In the desert of chain stores and franchised restaurants that is Turkey Creek, this Brewpub restaurant is an Oasis of awesome!

The beer sampler is a great way to start. The Pretzels are excellent.

If you find yourself stuck to a woman or women who are spending the day shopping in the area, sneak away to this spot and enjoy!

A good place to spend an evening.  Even better when there's a good band playing.  The food is absolutely excellent.  The beer isn't my favorite, but it's pretty good.  The hot mustard they serve with the fresh baked pretzels is incredible.

I like this place for lunch. I have been here twice and it was pleasant experience both times. I do not know how dinner is here but the Philly Cheese Steak was great for lunch =)

Overall, my wife and I found this to be a good dining experience.  The beer selections were quite good ranging from light beers to IPAs and Stouts, with a little bit of everything in between. The menu was somewhat limited, having ribs, burgers and sandwiches with a few other options but both meals we selected were excellent (chicken philly and Brew-B-Q Chicken breast).  The sides were excellent by the way -- making the meal very filling and healthy too.  The service was wonderful (on a Tuesday evening), with seating choices both in the bar area and the restaurant area.  We would definitely go again.

I can not believe that this specific restaurant/brewery has not yet been reviewed.  A corporate restaurant/brewery - nonetheless, the bier that is brewed is excellent. I will definitely return for the nectar of life - bier! I am partial to IPAs, the Appalachian Pale Ale is as good as any served elsewhere. In addition to the Appalachian Pale Ale, the brewery serves six other brews. Since I was driving to the airport, I only had the IPA and did not imbibe in the sampler. Food is adequate, but I went for the bier, and it did not disappoint.

Unlike a small, craft brewery, the Smoky Mountain Brewery is a corporate sports bar. Large, lots of counter/table/booth space, televisions sets. Not my style...but you can not beat the service (of course, I visited on a Wednesday afternoon, so it was not crowded. Based on the layout of the restaurant/brewery and location (more about it coming up), during the usual peak hours (Thursday/Friday/Saturday evenings or during sporting events), the place will be busy!

This restaurant/brewery (one of three) is located in the heart of the Turkey Creek shopping mall area. So I can imagine that during the weekends, it would be busy.

On a side note, being a USC Trojan Football fan, since Lane Kiffin jumped from UT back to USC, I ensured that I did not wear any of my usual USC paraphernalia such as my favorite SC hat!

I rate the restaurant/brewery only three vice four stars because although the bier is excellent, its still corporate.

So, when in Knoxville, TN, DO NOT wear any USC gear, but ensure you stop by the Smoky Mountain Brewery - go for the bier!

Best steak I have ever had.  I've eaten all over and the Ale steak takes the cake.   I've been to many steakhouses, even the world rebound Shula's and the steaks at Smokey Mountain Brewery are among the best, excellent cut, very juicy and flavorful.  The custom brew beers are great as well, Thunder road being my favorite, Pale Ale being my wife's fav.  The prices are a bit high,  but I am a firm believer in you get what you pay for, and this proves it. If you want cheap food,  go and eat exactly that, its much easier to find.

Over priced, $9 burger that was just ok. A friend of mine got a salad, and it wasn't any better. I was unimpressed, but it is a new restaurant so maybe they are still working out the kinks. While the food was only decent, the BEER was ice cold and delicious.
