So, my friends and I decided to go here instead of Snappers (too packed and loud). First, it took them 10 minutes to seat my party of 5 people (even though there were obviously tables available). Then, after being seated, we didn't see a waiter until 30 minutes later. He got our orders, and then we waited another 5 or so minutes for our drinks and another 10 minutes for our appetizer. There were two other parties that left. Three other tables had complaints, too. We called the manager over and complained, then the moment he walked away, several other people started yelling at him about their own complaints. We got the wrong drinks, and one of my friend's drinks was really watered down. We finally got our main food. The burger my friend ordered was really overcooked for what she wanted, and she was given the wrong sauce for her burger, (she was given hot sauce instead of BBQ and almost died from her intolerance to spice). We just want to pay, get out of here, and never look back. :-/
Review Source:Came in after the beach on a Friday afternoon and for a couple drinks after dinner on a Saturday. Pretty much want I'd expect and want in a beach bar.
Great food, casual vibe, people looking to have a good time and great prices. It's a come as you are bar... we literally came in off the beach Friday and on Saturday, I had a button-up on from a dinner earlier.
At the beach? Want some solid food or couple cold ones? Snappers is a good bet.
Who doesn't like a classic dive bar to go hear a live band and have an ice cold brew with some spicy wings? Â But don't wait too long. Â Jax Beach FINALLY after 4 months of petitioning has approved Snappers remodeling plan, which includes rework of plumbing for new bathrooms. Â
With a great big deck on one side and a back room with a bar, great place for casual function.  They accommodated about 100 fletcher high school alums for  an all class reunion and worked with us on our limited budget to have a great gathering with beer, wine, specialty drink, wings, calamari, and shrimp! Â
In visiting the location multiple times, saw many people there through out the day enjoying the food... they have upscaled the food under new management and with Chef Brian on board.
Service is ok but the atmosphere is a bit divey. The location is near the beach so that is a plus. I was impressed with the conch fritters which had a good amount of conch and a tasty dipping sauce. I do not recommend the calamari. The blackened grouper sandwich made me happy but the sweet potato tator tots were a bit strange. The bartender seems to pour strong drinks which is always appreciated.
Review Source:Please don't go here. Food was terrible, crowd was sketchy, drink selection was poor. The waitress was nice. Dirty booths.
Ordered the ahi tuna asked for it raw. Waitress looked at me in confusion. It was the worst piece of fish I've ever had. I've had steak that was less chewy. Awful. Onion rings were also gross and soggy. Real cheap but for good reason.
The crowd was sparse but older. Not a crowd to party with if that's what you're there for. Maybe the patio is fun on the weekends. Good location close to the beach.
I'll never go back.
Ok my friends invited me & my husband out here on Sunday night. We thought it was a restaurant that we could just chill & relax at since it was Sunday but no it was like a college frat house. Everyone was wasted including my lovely friends...the music was way to loud. It was just too much.
Review Source:With Snappers, it depends on what you are looking for. Â The bar area is to the right as you walk in the front door. Â It is a great little bar that can spaciously hold around 35 or cram 50 people in. Â The dining room is small too but adequate. Â The outside patio is large and overlooks 1st street. Â During the week, the patio is the place to be if you like relaxing setting, watching the world go by and having a toddy or two. Â For the Weekends however, it is a completely different animal!
Jax Beach comes alive on the weekends and looks  more like a scene from Animal House instead of the sleepy beach it is on the weekdays and during the winter.  The patio at Snappers (and anywhere else on 1st St) is no exception.  The crowds are large, service is a little slower and the music is LOUD.  But, hey, sometimes that is a good thing.  The patio is a great place to go and watch the Beaches Opening Day Parade, but get there early if you want a seat.
Decided to try out a different place at Jax Beach. Â We had a hankering for Mexican food and breezed in and right out of Paco's on the beach side of First Street North. Â Paco's seemed like an OK hangout, if you were just having drinks and people watching from the tables & chairs on the front patio, but we went in, got a full view of the kitchen at the end of the bar, and breezed right back out. Â
Snappers Seafood & Spirits is located across the street from Paco's Mexican Food. Â Their daily special was Trout with orange sauce and spinach with pupps. Â So we went inside and out to the patio to the left.
We sat for about 5 mins enough to have our order taken and then opted for a seat indoors. Â Not because it was hot, but because the 2 piece band was playing raggae music extremely loud. It was just a little too loud to hear the person across the table. Â We weren't the only ones who did that tho. Â About 3 other couples did the same thing when we finally had enough. Maybe if we were just having a few drinks it would have been allright. Â
So we started with Banger Shrimp -- I would highly recommend this appetizer -- it came out HOT (temperature hot) with crispy crunchy breadcrump coating on the outside. Â It was served with banger sauce which had a touch of horsey sauce, maybe some tabasco, and mayonnaise-like flavor. Â mmmm...! Â I had the server bring out a side of that for the trout.
Hubby had the sesame seed crusted tuna with rice pilaf and sauteed vegetables (yellow squash, zucchini and red onion). It came with a ginger vinegairette. Â We came to the conclusion that the tuna, altho it was delish, was not fresh, but frozen. It was just too 'pink' and dense in the middle for it to be fresh. Â Fresh would be a deep red and soft since it was only seared on both sides to a rare. Â
Snapper's is not a fancy place to eat, however, the food is good and hot, the wait staff is very courteous and attentive, and the ice tea kept coming. Â Would probably recommend Snapper's just for a few cold ones as the sun sets.
