I had a first rate dining experience in this downtown Lakeland Club that opened in late 2010 according to the waitress who also said it was about 1.5 years ago (and that date is about 2.5 years ago, so go figure). Â It was Trader's Alley before that.
It has $6 Mondays, where all the food items are $6 (and normally $8 or $9). Â It's opened 11 to 4 on Mondays but is a "night club" all the other days. Â We began with their "Downtown Spread" appetizer. Â It's sposed to come with three spreads, a salsa, a thick Tzatziki yogurt-cuke sauce and hummus and chips. Â They were out of hummus so we got double salsa which was mild, yummy and appeared homemade. Â The Greek sauce was flavorful. Â The chips were red, white and blue corn chips (and very broken). Â It was a pleasurable appetizer but took a long time to be delivered and came with our meals. Â Regularly $9, I wouldn't pay that for it, but $6 was reasonable.
I ordered the Horsey Roast Beef Panini with pepper jack cheese. Â It was pressed to perfection, meaty and zesty with the horseradish sauce. Â I'd absolutely order this again. (Reg price $8.25, Mondays $6). Â It came with bagged sea salt chips and a garli dill spear. Â My friend ate the Mykeys Night Club and found it delicious--turkey breast, ham, roast beef, bacon, Swiss cheese, oil & vinegar, mayo and pressed to perfection. ($8.75) Â She took half the sandwich home it was so filling.
The place has personality--a brick wall and basically only barstool and high top seating. Â It was well lit for daytime eating. Â Beers were $2 and the waitress stayed busy with food and drink orders over the lunch hour. Â The salads looked huge and inviting.
This is a bit of a gourmet pub grub place if you like sandwiches. Â There are wings, nachos, soup, and a large quesadilla on the menu. Â A Lakeland taco consists of bbq pork in a soft shell. Â It's off the beaten path and not "hectic" at lunch. Â We found easy street parking right in front. Â There are cafe tables outside, too. Â It is worth your dining pleasure!
