Again, I wish I could give 3.5 stars.

I've been to Solaro twice. The first time was in late February. The husband co-owner was the one who started our tasting, which was ended by the wife co-owner. This was really nice because we were able to get loads of information straight from the horse's mouth from people who actually really know their wines. I remember not being thrilled by any of the wines we chose that day, but I also was still getting into wine at that point. That being said, my boyfriend and I almost fell over our seats over the Mouvedre. Oh sweet baby jesus. It was so different than any other wine I'd tasted or have tasted since. So earthy and smooth. Yum! We inquired about purchasing a bottle but were literally shocked when we saw it was OVER $40. I think this would be reasonable if it were some signature or reserve wine. I know Becker's Raven is about $45. But unlike Becker, all the bottles of wine at Solaro are around $30-40 as well. Ridiculous. We ended up just paying for our tastings and left.

We came back to this winery this past Sunday in hopes to actually purchase the mouvedre wine (we had a few months to think about it haha), unfortunately they were entirely sold out. NEEOOOOOOO. :o(((

We each got a tasting, which was fairly expensive. 5 very small pours for $10. Everything we tried tasted way too sweet. And this is coming from someone who loves sweet dessert wine (even syrupey sweet wine).

I was looking forward to trying the tempranillo as it is my favorite varietal, but it felt pretty plain and uncomplex to me. My boyfriend had the perfect description: like blackberries with pepper on them. I just tasted those 2 flavors and they didn't even seem to meld well.

We did end up getting a glass of the first white wine we tasted, the Miscela Bianco, which was very tasty. They have some really nice grounds with a decent sitting area that's shaded and by a fountain. There are also a decent number of birds that fly around here. On weekends only I believe, there is also live music. The area is really nice, the couple seems to know a bunch about wines and are both very sweet, but I just felt like the majority of the wines fell short for me or were not worth their price point.

Very knowledgable staff and great Texas grown wines. Fantastic for red wine levers but great even for those just learning to love reds, like myself. The Tempranillo was highly unique and definitely worth tasting but my favorite was their Sangiovese with its complex strawberry-caramel notes--could gave sipped that all afternoon!

Had a nice day trip out to Dripping Springs to check this place out. The vineyard had a nice layout. The tasting room was cute and had great patio. There was even a musician performing for a music series they had going on.  The girl pouring our wine tasting was really sweet and seemed to know what she was talking about. We all got a conversation going about other things too.  The wine itself was pretty good. They seemed to get better as they went along. I'm not a wine connoisseur but I knew what I liked. She priced the bottles at the end and they were slightly pricey. I liked a couple of them but not enough to buy a bottle. They ranged about $30-45 a bottle. We did end up getting a glass though and enjoyed it on the patio while listening to music. I'd be willing to go back or take guests from out of town. They're also opening a location in Houston if you're down that direction.

We are members of four local wineries... Solaro is by far my favorite.
The atmosphere is perfect for a Sunday evening picnic, or a full Saturday of entertaining friends.

They have plenty of events one can attend, and also you can participate in things like stomping the grapes, or bottling the wine.

I have yet to try a wine I didn't like.

The staff is amazing, knowledgable, and cool to have a quick chat with.

My favorites right now are -
    Sangiovese
    GSM
    Lisse

We went on a Monday and found it to be very lovely.  On a nice day it's a great place to bring a picnic and enjoy some really tasty wine.  I was pleased to find out they have red and white selections that are dry.  I highly recommend it.

Beautiful tasting room and winery and the owners are so friendly and welcoming. We stopped in recently for a tasting and tried one of their whites and a few or their reds. The tasting room is the epitome of Texas Hill Country and I mean that in the best way, it really is beautiful. The wines were the best of the vineyards we visited in the area and it was nice sitting on their patio after our tasting and just enjoying a full glass and the view.

We actually saw the sign and headed down the road! Walked in to the tasting room where owner Robert greeted us. What an unexpected pleasure to have someone so knowledgeable and excited about his wines. As we tasted the offerings of the day, we were well educated on many aspects of the wine from the grapes to the vats to the pairings. Wine was great and we all joined the wine club when done. Can't wait to come to some of the club events; picking grapes and possibly a party at the stables which sounds awesome.

The owners welcomed us to the sunlit tasting room and sat right down to pour and tell us about their wines.  We had four reds and each was unique, lovely, and delicious.  We finally decided to just stay and have some full glasses.  I intend to come back here with a lunch, buy a bottle to enjoy and listen to some music.  It is a bit of a ways down what appears to be the wrong road, but stay the course and you will be rewarded with a great wine experience.

This place has only been up and running for a couple of years, but it looks like they are finding their footing when it comes to the tasting room and the vineyard itself.

The tasting room here has plenty a/c for the TX heat and is a decent size. There isn't a lot of seating inside, but there are patio chairs in the courtyard.

You can get 5 tastings for $10. I thought this was kind of pricey for the amount you got.

While I didn't love any of their wines, I can see myself drinking more than one glass of the Tempranillo.

The vineyards are not grand, but you can taste the grapes! They have a some tasting bushes right next to the tasting room entrance. Sour and delicious!

We were really duped here.   After a tasting and a very hard sale (we should have known better) we bought a bottle of Moscato.  We like to support Texas Wines when we are in the area so we always purchase a bottle (or two if we really like the wine).  Their wine we felt was alright.  Not one our favorite wineries but not our least favorite either.  The tasting room had very little decor and a funky smell.... but that is besides the point.   I didn't ask for the price (that should have been another clue - there were no prices anywhere in the tasting room) but figured even at the worst it would be $25-$30 like all other wineries in the area.  I nearly fell over when I received my receipt.  It was $48!!!!!!!  So my advice is to not fall for their heavy sales tactics and ask for the price!

This is a review of the Winter White Wine release party last Saturday. Until now, Solaro has been producing only red wines, so the release of their first whites called for a party! A local oompah band, the Bohemian Dutchmen, entertained the crowd. It was a perfect day to be outside, sipping on wines and enjoying knackwurst-and-sauerkraut dogs.

The new whites include Arancia, rare because there aren't many acres left in Texas. It's the state's oldest-known varietal. There's also a dry Riesling and a slightly-sweet Moscato.

The tasting pavilion was so busy, even winemaker Robert had to lend a hand. It's surrounded by walls of glass, and the weather was warm enough to throw open all the windows and enjoy the polkas. Cheers to the new whites!

I have been here twice with the wine trails and have enjoyed myself immensely.  The wines are fantastic, the grounds are gorgeous, and the staff is extremely friendly.  Both times we have been we ended up staying for over an hour just chatting.  Great place!

Just want to update you on my favorite Texas winery.  I finally took the member's tour of the wine making facility.  Robert kindly let us taste a few "wines in process". Wow, I am really looking forward to seeing these wines in bottles!  Currently, they are working hard on getting the wine club member's selections ready for the big pick up party.  Something not to be missed.   And now, they have live music on Saturdays.   What could be better!   Don't wait to go.   These folks have a great place and incredibly close to Austin.

Robert & Barbara are doing everything right to put high quality Texas wines on the map.  While their vineyard (as of today they are purchasing most/all of the grapes from other Texas vineyards as they only planted their vines a few years ago), winery and tasting room are all quite young (the tasting room just opened a few weeks ago) their wines are excellent, the hospitality is second to none and their knowledge of wines and the wine business is incredible.  We'll be back soon!
