Again, I wish I could give 3.5 stars.

I've been to Solaro twice. The first time was in late February. The husband co-owner was the one who started our tasting, which was ended by the wife co-owner. This was really nice because we were able to get loads of information straight from the horse's mouth from people who actually really know their wines. I remember not being thrilled by any of the wines we chose that day, but I also was still getting into wine at that point. That being said, my boyfriend and I almost fell over our seats over the Mouvedre. Oh sweet baby jesus. It was so different than any other wine I'd tasted or have tasted since. So earthy and smooth. Yum! We inquired about purchasing a bottle but were literally shocked when we saw it was OVER $40. I think this would be reasonable if it were some signature or reserve wine. I know Becker's Raven is about $45. But unlike Becker, all the bottles of wine at Solaro are around $30-40 as well. Ridiculous. We ended up just paying for our tastings and left.

We came back to this winery this past Sunday in hopes to actually purchase the mouvedre wine (we had a few months to think about it haha), unfortunately they were entirely sold out. NEEOOOOOOO. :o(((

We each got a tasting, which was fairly expensive. 5 very small pours for $10. Everything we tried tasted way too sweet. And this is coming from someone who loves sweet dessert wine (even syrupey sweet wine).

I was looking forward to trying the tempranillo as it is my favorite varietal, but it felt pretty plain and uncomplex to me. My boyfriend had the perfect description: like blackberries with pepper on them. I just tasted those 2 flavors and they didn't even seem to meld well.

We did end up getting a glass of the first white wine we tasted, the Miscela Bianco, which was very tasty. They have some really nice grounds with a decent sitting area that's shaded and by a fountain. There are also a decent number of birds that fly around here. On weekends only I believe, there is also live music. The area is really nice, the couple seems to know a bunch about wines and are both very sweet, but I just felt like the majority of the wines fell short for me or were not worth their price point.

Very knowledgable staff and great Texas grown wines. Fantastic for red wine levers but great even for those just learning to love reds, like myself. The Tempranillo was highly unique and definitely worth tasting but my favorite was their Sangiovese with its complex strawberry-caramel notes--could gave sipped that all afternoon!

Had a nice day trip out to Dripping Springs to check this place out. The vineyard had a nice layout. The tasting room was cute and had great patio. There was even a musician performing for a music series they had going on.  The girl pouring our wine tasting was really sweet and seemed to know what she was talking about. We all got a conversation going about other things too.  The wine itself was pretty good. They seemed to get better as they went along. I'm not a wine connoisseur but I knew what I liked. She priced the bottles at the end and they were slightly pricey. I liked a couple of them but not enough to buy a bottle. They ranged about $30-45 a bottle. We did end up getting a glass though and enjoyed it on the patio while listening to music. I'd be willing to go back or take guests from out of town. They're also opening a location in Houston if you're down that direction.
