Spanky's Sports Bar & Grill

Unique interior. Good crowd. However its a "club" after like 9 sometimes and a collared short is required but there's nothing stating so. The lady at the front was kind of mean about it too.

The club was dead and boring but the bartender kept the evening enjoyable.

Was an OK time.

Need a beer or a shot at 8:00 AM to kick-start your day?  Well then, Spanky's is your place.  They open at 0800 six days a week and at noon on Sunday.

I would classify it more as a tavern/dive bar than a sports bar.  They have a pretty standard selection of domestic beer.  Nothing exciting.  While they have a full bar, it really is a beer and a shot kinda place.

I've been there a bunch of times when visiting Jacksonville and have never seen anyone try their food.  That should be a clue....

The clientele skews a bit older than most bars in Jacksonville.  You won't run into too many young Marines here.  You will run into a bunch of retired Marines tho...   It definitely has a locals kind of feel.

If you are a Packers fan, this should be your place on game day.

All in all, not a bad place for a few cheap beers and sea stories.  Just keep you expectations in check.
