We stopped here for a quick and light lunch before a doctor appointment at Vanderbilt University Hospital.  The restaurant is walking distance (1 block).

We both had salads (grilled chicken and grilled salmon).  We both had their Dijon Vinaigrette dressing.  I had a cup of Chicken Tortilla soup.

The soup was excellent.  Hot, thick, lots of chicken and cheese flavor and not very spicy.

The salads were both very good.  We had the lunch size and it was just enough.

Parking is spartan.  They have a few spaces in a lot across the street at the gas station.  We were lucky and had already parked in the free parking garage at the hospital, ahead of our appointment.

    We'd come back!

I love the BBQ here...great wines (Sonoma By the glass!) free wifi, family friendly, old school and 2 TVs with sports in the bar...perfect!

My husband and I have been here twice (this is the only Sportsman's Grille we've been to so far). It's right down the road from the Children's Playroom which is where we drop the kids off so we can have a fun evening out :)

The first time we went, I had the meatloaf dinner and my husband had the french dip sandwich, both were EXCELLENT. I was a bit hesitant since meatloaf from a restaurant is hit or miss, but I ate every bite off my plate.

Their pitchers of draft beer seem larger to me than most places, and they bring out the coldest glass mugs I've ever seen so your beer stays fresh for a bit (which is good because I drink slow).

The second time we went I had the philly cheese steak sandwich and my husband had the chicken and biscuits, both again were excellent. And again, our service was great. We sat outside both times and were alone on the deck, so for us it was a very enjoyable, quiet and pleasant evening dinner. We've never eaten inside, so perhaps for those who have had a bad experience inside due to loudness... I would recommend their outdoor seating for a more peaceful meal :)

We will be making this a regular spot, I'm looking forward to trying another meal off of their awesome menu!

    "Everybody knows your name!"
Pretty much sets the tone. I grew up going to this place. The food can be hit or miss, but you just have to know how to order. It sounds crazy, but the fries for example: ask that they are fresh and extra crispy. What is great about Sportsman's is that they will do it.
The catfish plate or the patty melt might be the best two things on the menu. Very family friendly.

Went there for the first time last night. Food wasn't good at all for the price--$20 for a fish sandwich and soggy, limp fries? No, thank you.

No longer good value.  My husband and I used to eat here a few times a week for years.  Now, not so much, even though it's in our neighborhood.

Let's talk about the good things.  The menu is nicely varied, for meat eaters  -- vegetarians would have a hard time.  Sides can be substituted at no extra charge.  When the food and the service are at the top of their game, it's a pleasant experience.  The chili is good, although it could benefit from using dried beans instead of canned.  Just a notch or two above Wendy's, actually, but it fills the bill on a cold day.

Service and food is up and down, so if you hit it on a bad day, it's a waste of time and money.  For the prices they charge, they could serve real cheese that they slice themselves rather than those rubbery pre-fab American singles they use in all the sandwiches -- yuck.  The same goes for the cheap sandwich meat, straight from a grocery store package, that goes on many of their sandwiches and into the chef's salad.

What is unforgivable is they they cannot serve crisp French Fries for the the life of them.  Yes, they are hand cut from real potatoes, but limp, soggy, and tasteless.  Always.  It's a two-part process guys, google it.  Crisp fries aren't so hard.

I often order the blackened salmon salad, but always with trepidation -- it's often over cooked and dry.  (Hint:  "blackened" does not mean "burnt.")  If I ask them to undercook it, it comes out just about right.

We all know that food costs are climbing, but the prices have skyrocketed until it's not longer good value for the money.  Even the daily specials are no longer good deals -- generally just a dollar off the menu prices, which are much higher than at other similar restaurants.

Wine by the glass is pretty high, too, for very bad cheap vino, unless it's Happy Hour.  Otherwise, stick with the beer.

Great bar to meet the locals and get a feel for Belle Meade. Great local beer and good no nonsense food.

I don't know why I haven't written a review for the Sportsman's before now. We have eaten there many times and often order to pick up to bring home.

Sportsman's Grille is our neighborhood restaurant / bar in Bell Meade.

If you want to stop in for a beer, appetizer , drink or meal it's great  IF you don't go at regular dinner time on weekends or Saturday around lunch time.

I love children..I had 3, but my kids are grown now. I just don't enjoy eating when there are 30 or so children in a small place while trying to relax.

Going to Sportsman's around 5:00 - 7:00 PM seems to be family time for everyone in the neighborhood. It's loud and chaotic. We've found out that going in between meal times is the best time for a quiet meal or a drink.

Now about the food...I've tried everything here from the Chicken Cobb Salad which is delicious to the Ribeye steak which is equally yummy. I've had the patty melt , different appetizers, bleu cheese hamburger, many different items. The only thing I haven't  liked was the broccoli salad ( way too sweet with too many raisins and the mayo or whatever they used. )

Depending on what day of the week and what time you go, the atmosphere can actually be two completely different places :
A quiet relaxing restaurant to enjoy a meal and a drink with a friend or partner or a loud, busy place full of families with their small children.

Go during an "off time" and you'll enjoy the atmosphere.
If you have children, go during meal times and you'll be in similar company.

If you place a telephone order to pick up, no matter how busy they are - the person has always said " Give us15 minutes" . The order is ready and packaged when you go to the bar to pick it up and it's always delicious ( and reasonably priced ).

I haven't been to the Sportsman's Grille on the other side of town in years, so I can't
say much about it, but the Grille in Belle Meade is GREAT.

They have a big selection of beer, and a full bar.  No matter what time of day, the bar seems to always be full of regulars.

The prices are very reasonable and the food is GOOD.

Great bar! Awesome beer selection and even though I didn't eat the food looked awesome every time it went by.  I loved that cool German theme reminded me of bars back home in Wisconsin, once we move into the area I will be excited to come back.  Oh and the service what quick and great.

Update:  Finally ate there and it was awesome!  I got the fried grouper and it was just as good as any fish I've had down in Hilton Head!  I was so excited.  Their fries are okay, little skinny and soft for me but they weren't bad.  Their ranch is definitely made in house and is unbelievable! I can't wait to go back!!

If you're looking for a dive bar atmosphere in a nice part of town, then I guess this is the place for you...it's dank and dark inside, the menus are kinda sticky, and it still smells like smoke. The food is all of the fried variety for the most part, and for fried food it was...typical fried food. Good beer selection, a full bar if you're not into beer, and the service was probably the best part of our experience, as our server was really attentive and energetic. All in all: I don't expect to make this a frequent destination, but if I'm in the mood, and everything else is closed, then I might go there. Maybe. But probably not.

Sportsmans is the perfect neighborhood pub.  Cold beer, hot food, sports on TV, and friendly staff.  It has no airs about it.   If Nashville has a Cheers, this is it.   Don't go if you want something trendy, but do if you want a place you can be yourself.

My sister and I stopped in for a Friday night dinner, and boy will we go back.  We split the Filet tail with a Baked potato, and it was to die for.  Small close quarters, but a definte return visit worthy.

The first time I came here was during the hottest damn summer I can remember before the summer of 2010, the summer of 2007.  The wife and I had contemplated moving to Bellevue and found what we thought was the perfect house.

I remember vividly stopping here with my dad, who was in town visiting for the day and out to see the house.  We pulled into here and were sweating buckets.  It was around 2PM in the afternoon, late for lunch but way too early for dinner.  It was nice, cool and dim - a pleasant contrast to the dry, hot hell outside.

We asked for some beer and got two fishbowls of draft Gerst beer.  I didn't realize until that moment that the 'Sportsman' restaurants were related to the Gerst House restaurants.  The beer was perfectly cold and the goblets were completely frozen.  A thin film of ice formed on the surface of the beer.  It was like going to heaven after the seltering mess we had endured outside.  We each did another and by that point, really didn't give a damn what the temperature was outside.  I think we saw the house, too.  But good gravy, that was the best beer I've ever had.  Somehow, and to this day I am not sure of the accounting method, we were only charged $5 for drinking what seemed like a gallon of frosty beer.

Fast forward to modern times.  I'm a dad, and I contribute to the caucophony of parents and children that plagues this place in the evenings between the hours of 5-7.  They have great fried pickles, home fries(when they aren't too greasy), fried catfish, sandwiches, fish, burgers, bbq, etc - everything is good.  The service is pretty decent too, a must when your young one is in the 95th percentile in height/weight.

I especially like coming here with my vegetarian wife as the scores of stuffed and mounted heads really set the tone well.

If you don't have young active energetic loud children, you may want to find someplace else to eat early on a Friday night.

General cacophony aside, the only part of my meal that I actually enjoyed was the beer (Fat Tire on tap).

I really liked Sportsman's Grille when I went a couple times earlier this year, but this time the food just came across as very 'meh' (dry burger, burnt fries, tasteless catfish, decent cole slaw).

Oh and lots of Yelpers rave about the pickled chips. I have to say about the whole pickle chip thing - "I don't get it." I mean, I like to munch on one - possibly two - dill pickles from time to time. But a whole basket full of greasy fried pickle slices and a ramekin of ranch dressing? Ugh. My stomach declares defeat.

The interior has a nice ambience and I wouldn't mind meeting a friend for a beer there sometime on a quiet afternoon or perhaps late in the evening if I could get a quiet booth (did I just use the word 'quiet' twice in the same sentence?) but at this point I can't imagine going back to Sportsman's Grille for a meal.

This is my neighborhood sports bar, but despite the name, it's more restaurant than sports bar. Actually, come to think of it, the name "Sportsman's" doesn't reflect the "family" type place it is around 5-7 p.m. each night.

While I'm not necessarily recommending it for visitors from out of town, it's easily the spot I frequent the most. And unlike some places where I always order the same thing, I enjoy lots of Sportsman staples: the blackened chicken salad is a favorite, but once in a while I'll go for their very good burger.

The nightly specials are good and "comfortable" food -- especially the catfish. The staff is very friendly and efficient. And the bar area seems to have a very "everyone knows your name" friendly vibe.

Before Nashville banned smoking in restaurants, it was a very smokey place, but that's become a welcomed distant memory. However, for smokers, there's an outside bar, eating area. Not very much ambiance, but the folks out there don't seem to mind.

If you are visiting from out of town, I think the most unique and "southern" thing they have is barbecue served with cornbread. At one time, the barbecue was from Whitts, which will provide you with a Middle-Tennessee style barbecue (if there is such a thing) and the cornbread is served in "cakes," which means "like a pancake." Quite good, but I don't really order it as I enjoy my barbecue moments elsewhere.

This place was always a nice respite to get some lunch when I worked in Burton Hills. It was a quick hop away but was so relaxing to go here and get out of the Green Hills traffic. This Sportsman's may be in Belle Meade, but I can't say you'll feel like you're in Belle Meade when you are inside.

It's got the lodge decor, and there seem to be regulars drinking at the bar during lunch. They've got your basics on the menu. I would tell you to try the fried pickle chips which are so good. They may be the best I've had in Nashville. I'm also a big fan of the tuna melt for lunch. Service is fine if a little slow at times. They've got some nice huge salads for lunch as well.

I think my only minor complaint might be it seems a little pricey for lunch, but I don't mind it too much. I haven't seen it that crowded for lunch during the week which can be nice as well.

This Sportsman's is much closer to my house, but it is very, very different than the one in The Village. Much smaller and a different crowd. I like it, but I'm more apt to catch up with a friend over a beer here than the other location. This one is not as crowded or noisy. It also tends to not have as many college kids. But, I've seen it kinda dead on weekends. Then, at times people are spilling off the porch. One never knows!

Their menu is the same great bar food. A total fav of mine. The service is great and girls, you'll probably see some pretty cute guys here! At least I think so! It's just a totally different feel. Try them both and pick your favorite!

I've already reviewed Sportsman's in the Village, which is the location I frequent the most, but the other night I was in the Belle Meade area and had a hankering for some sliders--so I stopped in Sportsman's on Harding.  I forgot how much I like this location too!

First off, kudos to them for including fries with their sliders!  Sliders are technically an appetizer, but I get them as a meal--in the Village location, you have to buy fries separate, but here they are included.  That's just the kind of thing that makes my day!  Yes simple pleasures I know.  Other than small things like that, the menu is basically  the same--upscale bar food such as chicken tenders, burgers, chicken sandwiches, fried pickles, salads, etc.

I like the atmosphere here too--it's smaller, but a bit more open and not as dark as the Village.  Different crowd too--a bit older, wiser, and more upscale!  You are in Belle Meade, after all!  No frat guys here.  Which is nice if you are just in the mood to eat and watch a game in peace.

Plenty of TVs and a decent sized bar, Sportman's in Belle Meade is a great place to go to hang out with friends in a quieter yet still sports bar setting.  I'm a fan!
