The very worst service available. Brought a small group of out of town students to sit by the lake. Wait staff took forever to check on us. Drinks were always empty by the time new drinks were served. At end of evening; we received several reasons why a gratuity was added. (Over $100, large group, too cute (really), not enough ordered.) We informed wait staff that was not how to treat locals and that we always tip better than "standard" but not if a tip is imposed upon us. Back to Eagle's Nest and Bubba's Back 40 for us. With this service, The Spot will not make it through the winter....
Review Source:Loved the llive music and great view!
Food was so, so. Everything seemed greasy. Sweet potatoes fries were not homemade. Friends loved their burgers. I ordered the blackened catfish sandwich with grilled jalapeños and onions. It was pretty good, nothing special.
*Staff was slow to the punch.
I've been here a few times. Â I absolutely love the view of the lake. Â On one occasion they were out of Chardonnay. Â How are you out of wine? Â "We've been busy". Â My response? "Then order more wine." Â
But we went there last week and my friend waited for 7 minutes before being acknowledged, and this is when there were only 2 tables inside and a few people outside. Â Then, we were ready to order and still waited and waited. Â Where were the wait staff? Â Huddled together talking with each other, and one was chatting it up with customers at another table. Â Must have been friends, I guess. Â The waitress obviously didn't care to help us. Â We asked for another waitress. I asked for a side of vegetables. Â "We ran out." Â How about macaroni & cheese? "We ran out. Â The truck driver was in an accident today." Â My friend ordered a brisket sandwich. Â We love their brisket sandwich, and their burgers are awesome. Â After about 10 minutes, the waitress came back and said they were out of brisket. Â "We're leaving. Â We want our check." Â After waiting for the check, since the waitress stopped to talk to people at another table for awhile, she finally came back and told us that "they found some brisket". Â Really? Â Too late. Â We want to speak to the Manager. Â After another 10 minutes of her trying to find the Manager, we put money on the table and left. Â Love the food, but these people need to get their act together on ordering enough food & drink so they don't run out and instructing their wait staff to better serve everyone, not just their friends. Â Honestly, I like the food and the view. Â We'll be back to try it again, but if the wait staff treats us like that again, we will not be back at all.
I was excited to dine here, but unfortunately things after another went downhill. I viewed the menu on Yelp prior to going and it was way off from the one on the table. I asked for a mai tai which the bartender didn't know how to make. *gasps* Had to look it up and tell her. It took twenty minutes for drinks to arrive and there was barely anyone in sight. Also, it was the waitress' first day and she was screwing up bad, but my heart goes out to her for trying. My order was wrong. I didn't want to be rude and send it back since things were already blah. What a terrible experience for me. No me gusta. :(
Review Source:This place has everything, from the dance floor, karaoke nights, shuffleboard, pool, to the live music on the patio, great food, cold drinks and my personal favorite the punching machine game! The bartenders always remember my name and even remember what I drink. Â Whoever has taken this place over recently has done an amazing job of fixing the place up, the floors were just recently redone and a stage was placed out on the patio for when they have live music. Â This is one of my favorite places to sit and even hang out any night of the week, but especially Sunday afternoons. I encourage anyone to stop in and grab a drink and a bite to eat!
Review Source:On a saturday lunch I took my son and sat on the patio. Â The place had maybe 10 customers. Â Ordered a burger and a BBQ plate. Â Took them 45 min! Â The waitress was nice enough to keep refilling my tea, but by the time my food got to me my back teeth were floating. Â My son's burger was so over salted he couldn't eat it, and my BBQ plate looked like it had been reheated TWICE! Â The onion rings and the potato salad looked like the pepper shaker had just been dumped into them. Â All of this for 34 bucks. Â I just moved in around the corner and i was hoping that i would have place to hang out on nice sunny days. Â But no, i will take my business down the road to Boo Rays.
Review Source:I feel I'm being overly generous here with the 3 stars. Â I met some friends at The Spot for a "going away" party. Â I had some dirty martinis. Â They were decent but really how can you mess up vodka and olive juice? Â My friends all ate mountains of food, no one complained and these people would have complained if there had been anything wrong. Â My problem? Â My tab for 3 dirty martinis was $30. Â I gave the cute boy waiter $40 and called it a day though I felt he should have at least kissed me first.
Review Source:How'd I end up here? Well, I was picking up a stranded friend and this place was on the way back. From my experience, bars next to lakes are a different breed and that extends to it's patrons. So I thought it'd be a decent place to sum up that nights game plan and drink a quick beer.
First, we mistakenly walked into the "game room" upstairs, which could possibly be an illegal casino for people on social security because their were 70 year olds playing video poker and it didn't seem like they were trying to win stuffed animals.
Oh, anyways back to THE Spot. Grabbed a couple beers at a table. The typical old guys wearing tropical shirts at the bar talkin' the same b/s, and a group of 6 women at a table behind me. Possibly a group therapy session because they all couldn't stop complaining something or the other going on.
The staff was alright, though it wasn't busy at all. I saw a sign at the door advertising a cheap french dip.
Unfortunately it was a bleek evening, so what looks to be walls that open up to the lake were closed. To bad, as I'm sure it's puts this place in a whole different setting especially on the weekends.
While the may be called "The Spot" it is not the spot for excellent food nor drinks. The first tragedy occurred when I ordered the frozen margarita. It was over frozen which the waitress immediately apologized for and asked if we were ok with that or would prefer something else... well, I was okay with the frozen-ness but the first taste was a mouthful of sweet'nsour with NO taste of any tequila. :( Nope. I do not like the extra strong sweet'nsour to mask lack of alcohol trick. Ew. I sent that back and went for a regular old Coke. We got several appetizers and found all to be quite good. We tried the Stuffed jalepenos, fried pickles, and fried asparagus. The asparagus was really good and I have never seen it before... quite unique! Now for the meal- I ordered the Rueben, my husband had the Philly Cheesesteak, my Dad the Swiss burger. All were ok. Mine would have been really good but I recognized it was missing something just couldn't put my finger on exactly what at first... OH YEAH!!! They forgot the Thousand Island. Had to ask for it on the side and it was plainly on the description on the menu. Hmph. While this place wasn't awful it certainly wasn't fantastic either. Auggies has my vote over this place and it is just across the lake a bit. Gonna have to step it up a bit fellers!
