This place is a great and consistent meal. We eat here once a week and are never disappointed!

The food is great, the service is awful. Apparently, you are not allowed to order a drink until your significant other returns to the table, because that is what the waiter did to me. He ignored me for almost ten minutes and then when he came to the table and my boyfriend was in the bathroom, I tried ordering a drink for my boyfriend but he wanted to see his id (understandable). What was not understandable was that he did ask me what I wanted to drink until another 15 minutes when my boyfriend returned to the table. Everytime we were talking to him, he was already walking away. He was extremely rude. There is a good variety of food on the menu. I had the gluten-free pasta and it was superb!

Place was fine for a quick lunch in Lake Geneva.  The root beer was good, as expected.  Our waitress was very friendly and helpful.  The rest of my party said their food was good.  I had the Spicy Thai Flatbread app for lunch (I had way too much brats, cheese, etc for the weekend), and it was ok.  The sauce was way too salty.  But other than that it was fine.

Mixed feelings about this place. Maybe 2-2.5 stars, but I bumped them up since everyone else seemed to enjoy their food more than I did.

It's doesn't have the sort of pubby-microbrewery feel that I prefer from a microbrewery, but I guess it's better than a chain restaurant. (The location used to be a Houlihan's - yuck)

The beers are good. I had a chance to order their hard root beer, which was tasty.  I ordered their breakfast grilled cheese sans-bacon, since I'm a vegetarian. I ate the first half, but when I picked up the second half, there was bacon all over it. I would have noticed if there was bacon on the first half, so how this happened, I don't know.  They took it away and made me a new sandwich, which was slightly burned. Since they were going to comp it and I was with a group of friends and at that point I really just wanted to get out of there I just ate some of it and went on my way. Three people ordered the fish fry, which is $10-12 and includes a beer, they all thought the fish was surprisingly good for such a place.

As someone else said, I wouldn't urge people to stay away from here, but I'm not sure wouldn't highly recommend it either.

I absolutely LOVE the Sprecher's in WI Dells, but this one was a huge disappointment. :/ The service was extremely slow, they messed up my Uncle's soup order 3 times, and they ran out of everything! I figured I'd cut them some slack since we went there on Father's Day, but there was barely anybody in the restaurant around 8pm, so I don't really understand what the big deal was.

The appetizers were great, but I ordered the Short Ribs and they came out ridiculously dry. My cream soda tasted very tinny, unlike when you buy it at the store or unlike the Sprecher's in the Dells. As I said, they ran out of other orders, which I forgive because we came on Father's Day, but there was obviously lack of communication between the servers and the kitchen.

My sister's food came out almost 15 mins before the rest of ours, and the whole night was kind of a disaster.

I'd give the Sprecher's in WI Dells 5 stars, but this one only gets 2. :/

We were staying at the Cove, and came down just for some appetizers and a drink.

I don't know if I was really hungry or what, but the apps were awesome.  We ordered cheese curds, margherita flat bread, soft pretzels and stuffed mushrooms.  All were crazy delicious, but my favorite were the cheese curds.  I also decided to try the Sprecher grape soda. I loved it so much I ordered some to take home.

I have to mention that our waitress was very knowledgeable and attentive.  A+ for service that night.

On the next night, we went down to the bar to catch the Blackhawks game.  We were able to get a huge booth right in front of a huge TV.  We ordered dessert this time.  I ordered the mini root beer float.  When it came out, it was huge.  The waitress said it was regular size, but they were only charging me the mini price.  Awesome!

We stopped here after golfing at Geneva National. The menu is overwhelming because everything sounds so good. They have a number of root beers on tap and you can get a refill for a dollar which is pretty sweet (pun intended). They also have a good amount of beers that they brew in house as well. Untried the Ryediculous IPA and it ranks up there with some of the better IPAs I've had around the country.

Now for the food- We started with the cheese curds. They are beer battered and delicious! Comes with marinara and ranch for dipping. Real Wisconsin cheese that's beer battered using beer that they brew in house is tough to beat. Our entrees came out curiously fast, which even made our waitress take pause, but i digress. My wife had the chicken Parmesan pasta, which I thought was just ok. It's served over fettuccini Alfredo, which when mixed with the marinara from the chicky parm is very tasty. The breading fell right off the chicken, which leads me to believe that it wasn't dipped in an egg wash before hand, which is cooking 101. I had the Thai Ginger Fish Tacos, which were excellent. The fish is lightly sautéed and served with a avocado-ish pesto sauce, and a side of fresh fruit. It was well cooked and hit the spot.

All in all the place had a great atmosphere and I would definitely go back to try some of the other items on the menu.

I didn't have as bad an experience as some of the reivews listed here, but this place defines "meh".

Our server was attentive, but when I asked for a beer menu, he proceded to tell me more than half the items listed aren't available anymore. I've seen enough episodes of Kitchen Nightmares to know that when you hear the server say that, you can probably see where the whole meal will go from there.

We ordered the french onion soup which was ok, but tasted like the mix I've made at a home. My wife's flat bread was fairly good and my burger was ok. I ordered onion rings as my side and those were kind of gross. They were cold and soggy. Good onion rings should be really crisp and so hot you can't touch them immediately.

When all is said and done, I wouldn't tell anyone they need to stay away from here, but I probably wouldn't tell my friends they need to check it out either.

I have never been to a place where a server had to ask the manager if we could have extra chips with our appetizer, and the manager said no! Appetizers were really good otherwise (warm pretzels, dipping trio, and Reuben bites). Dinner was generic, grilled cheese was underdone. Service was nice but forgetful and slow, it took 18 minutes to get the change from our bill (which he totally forgot because he walked by our table 3 times). All in all not horrible but wouldn't recommend.

    Pros:
    1. Voluminous menu
    2. Served hard root  beer
    3. Nobody died
    4. Good stout draft
    5. Sat quickly
    6. Big booths ( I like big booths and I can not lie)
    7. Crowns that looked like Angry Birds for the kiddies
    8. Service was good
    9. Young child comfortable eating sweet potatoes in this environment
    10. If you are really into mediocre food, this is the place for you
    Cons:
    1. Bad place to eat after eating somewhere else
    2. Served hard root beer
    3. Hair in the salad!
    4. Don't even try to order dessert (bill came after we said we would take a look)
    5. Never made it to the bathroom  but I'm sure wasn't as good as Popeye's
    6. This is the type of place you would consider running out on the bill
    7. Food tasted as if the Chef was high AND drunk, or did not show up to work
    8. They are phoning it in
    9. No one finished their meal, and only one had hair in it
    10. If you are really into mediocre food, this is the place for you

Disappointing. I thought the cheese curds would be special.  Not so much. Culver's cheese curds are much better. The Reuben was not good. The bread and sauerkraut  were ok but the corned beef tasted like it came from a Buddig meat package. I would not return.

Disappointing. My GF and I both ordered steaks. Mine was well done, should have been medium. My GF's was cremated! Replaced with sincere apologies from manager, but replacements obviously rushed and were not seasoned! Like I said, very disappointing - luckily the beer was great.

I love Sprecher's so much. I've been to the restaurant maybe four or five times. It's so good no matter what I get. I am especially a fun of the chicken parm and the Irish coffee. So Good. The wait staff has always been kind and efficient. And my one complaint is the prices but hey, I'd still say that its worth it. So good!

Went for lunch, and it was fantastic. I had the lunch combo of salad and chicken pesto pasta, and it was so much food! Really, I felt like I had a dinner portion of both for a really good price. Both were fresh and tasty, as was my IPA. Splurged and had the root beer float flight for dessert. Messy, but delicious.

Atmosphere was very pretty, with warm wood and a stained glass dome. Our server was attentive and service was prompt. i would definitely go back.

We make a trip once a year to Lake Geneva.  This place is better than some of the other restaurants near downtown Lake Geneva.  I ordered the Cheesehead burger and was satisfied.  Had no complaints with the service.  And they have all of the beers you can ever imagine available.  I will return.

The best time to go to Sprecher's is at lunch, because they have great/affordable lunch specials. I got the meatloaf the last time I was there and was really happy with my choice.

Their food isn't exceptional, but it's good. The menu is an odd mix of cuisines(Schnitzel and fish tacos on the same menu?), but it offers a lot of options so it's nice to go there with large groups.

I love the beers they have on tap, and would definitely recommend their Heffe Weiss.

this place is nothing to speak of.
just average in all categories I'd say.

the food was not bad, just alright. they do have a nice variety of options: burgers, flatbreads, sandwiches, and "heftier" meals. I got a grilled chicken breast with cheddar cheese, bacon, and a fried egg on top :) I love that combo :) the chicken was cooked alright, the cheese was..eh not quality, the egg was an egg, the bacon was not so great--it was super thin, rubbery, and devoid of flavor.

I wouldn't suggest that you seek this place out necessarily...but if you find yourself here, it won't be super terrible. just pray it's not your last meal, because it'd be a pretty lousy one...

When I get to go out for dinner in Lake Geneva (I visit my family at least once or twice a month), my choices are minimal due to my vegan diet.  Sprecher's is often at the top of our list for two reasons: Good beer selection, and helpful staff.
They don't have a vegan selection, but the staff will go out of their way to make sure the dishes will fit your needs.  They are well aware of food allergies, thus, they will take the time to make sure what ingredients may be involved in your meal, if you ask.  The last time I went, they allowed me to "build my own salad" which was awesome.  It's always really cool when a place is as willing to work with all dietary needs, since I can only imagine how challenging that must be!  I've also enjoyed their portabella wrap....they've let me take out the pesto, and add hummus!
The only downside to this place is that it gets so crowded!  Go and prepare to wait...while drinking some awesome beers and cocktails!

I'd never heard of this place until randomly looking for a place to eat, after 8, in Lake Geneva.  Clearly the options are relatively limited - especially when you don't want to deal with the over-prices of the resort!

This place was pretty fantastic, and fit the bill to a T!  We had a couple of appetizers along with our beers - let's just say you won't go hungry after sharing the nachos.  We go the jalepenos on the side, which was a good call given that they were just the regular old canned kind.  Everything else on that plate was quite good - and like I said, hearty.

The beers are the real draw though.  I had the Winter Brew, while the girl had the IPA^2 (that's squared for all you non-math-ies :).  Both had amazing flaver, good finishes, I would get them on purpose again.

The ambiance was fine, though the table next to us was constantly filled with servers - and our server was distracted as well, so that could have gone better, but I left with a full belly and a satisfied pallate.

Looking for a decent dinner restaurant for a family with 2 small children (ages 4 and 11 months) in tow, we weren't expecting a great experience, just reasonable.  My wife and I had the tilapia tacos, that were just "ok", and my 4 year old had pizza and baby carrots.  The ambience was good for a family with small children, as there was a lot of noise, and the service was very good.  Not the greatest food, and a bit overpriced, but ok for the purpose at hand.

I don't really know what possessed me to drive to Lake Geneva just for lunch randomly after apple picking but our friends were game for my dumbass idea, so awesome.  I just can't resist a brewpub and figured I could get my growler refilled.

It's Sprecher, so I know the beers are good and the pop is good (this is how you know I'm from the Chicago area apparently, do they say pop in Wisconsin?).  That's a given.  My steak sandwich was cooked to order was very juicy on a nice roll.  It could have used a tiny bit more seasoning though.  I salted it and all was fine.  Housemade chips were also good.  My companion enjoyed his wrap, but another friend's grilled cheese looked a wee bit underdone and he said it was kind of weird.  Mini floats were good and you can get a flight of them which looks like some kind of mad scientist lab gone awry when they inevitably bubble all over the place.  The vanilla ice cream in these was particularly good.

The biggest flaw in our lunch experience was the cost of the growler refill.  It was MUCH more expensive than getting it refilled at the Sprecher brewery itself.  I bought it anyway, but some serious sticker shock happened.  If I were in Lake Geneva for other reasons, and I might because it's cute there, I'd probably swing by, but I wouldn't make a special trip again, and I will definitely keep doing my growler refills at the Sprecher brewery in Milwaukee instead.

Lake Geneva needed another good restaurant. Popeye's has gone down the drain and this is a good other option.

In the hotel, so you can enter through the Lobby.

Great brews and decent german inspired food. Nothing creative but you wont' go home hungry.

Three stars is generous, but if you're at all familiar with the Wisconsin tourist scene then you know that Culver's is pretty much as good as it gets for food. I had a late lunch here on Labor Day, and was able to be seated pretty quickly. The sodas are a fun idea and pretty yummy through the first few sips, after which point they become cloyingly sweet. My friend and I got the veggie quesadilla as an appetizer, which was right on par with your standard Chili's, Friday's, Applebee's or whatever generic American restaurant. I got the Cheesehead burger, which was decent but was served plain aside from the cheese. I had to ask for more toppings to make it edible. My friend got their Brew Burger, which he didn't eat much of because it wasn't cooked as he had ordered it.

The service was friendly but slow, so it's not a good place to go if you're trying to get in and out quickly.

*Update 11/25/2012:* I just got a note from someone named Jimmy L. for my review of Sprecher's, saying "You're an idiot!" LOL. I have no idea why someone would take the time out of their day to try to insult someone who gave a restaurant a mild 3-star review-- it's either a patron that doesn't understand the world wide web or someone with ties to the place. In any case, it reflects poorly on the restaurant and I don't want to eat here. Chew on that.

Went there on someones recommendation, and thought food was mediocre at best and service the same.  For example the cevicche was more like salsa with a few shrimp stuck in, the reuben ( my favorite sandwich) had some funky corned beef in it, and the fries  cold.   The wedge salad was the only thing we thought really ok, and the beer sampler.  Definately would not go back.  And then it takes forever to pay the bill!!
    Bummer.

I hate how misleading Yelp was about this place. I didn't realize that it was a huge tourist trap with screaming kids.

The food was mediocre. My bangers and mash came out lukewarm. My cousin's fettucine alfredo was too soft and the sauce tasted like it came out of a sauce packet.

I ordered a glass of the hefeweizen. It was quite bland. The cherry cola was good. I bought a 4-pack of the different sodas, have yet to try them though.

Maybe the Milwaukee location is better...I hope so anyway.

After reading several reviews on Yelp we decided to make this our first Lake Geneva restaurant visit on a casual Friday night. We were a bit disappointed.

As everyone mentioned, the on tap soda was really good. We had the root beer and cream soda. So yes, a soda company does soda very well.

The food on the other hand, wasn't all that great. The calamari appetizer was largely vegetables with a little bit of calamari. The salmon my wife had was far overcooked and "kinda rubbery" as she put it. My pasta was pretty good but bland as if it were simply reheated which the bread certainly was.

Lastly, we thought the brownie sundae would be the saving grace. Par the course, it was medicore at best. The brownie was stale around the edges and not heated up. However, the vanilla ice cream was quite good and it had ample whipped cream.

As Catherine put it, it's far more like a chain restaurant with a more colorful menu. Perhaps if we went more the bar food, burger method we would have enjoyed it more.

Their growlers are SUPER over-priced.  For the record a growler is the equivalent of just under a 6 pack of beer.   Their prices start out in the light beers at just over $20 and go up from there.  The growler glass itself is $2. So picture paying $22 for the equivalent of a 6 pack of a locally made Corona: not a good bargain!  I've seen growlers that were as expensive but that was only because they were using a very fancy hand made German growler glass that itself was a good chunk of that cost, not because of the beer cost.  I've never seen anywhere that had a Growler this expensive.

The food was OK.  The place is attached to a family-like resort and feels a lot like going into a chain restaurant.

While I liked the idea of supporting a "local business" (Sprecher's is Milwaukee-based, yes?) this place was more like a big chain restaurant than anything else. Think Spaghetti Factory, Snuggery, something like that.

We enjoyed the Sprecher's brews on the menu, both beer and soft drinks, but the food was unremarkable at best.

Kids menu mac-n-cheese was very clearly from a box ("Maybe they added their own cheese to it," my 11yo offered in their defense), and the applesauce side was a plastic cup of Mott's, tinfoil top peeled for your convenience. I'd have dinged them another star for this, but.... 1) most kids actually prefer mac-n-cheese from a box, and 2) KIDS EAT FREE ON WEDNESDAYS. That was a super-nice surprise and I am not going to complain about free food (that my kids were fine with) not being up to my snobby standards.

My schnitzel was blah. Hubby's bangers and mash were better. Beer cheese potatoes on the side were yummy but overly heavy and sat in my stomach like a rock.

    Meh. Wouldn't go back.

Totally seems like this is the place to be on a Saturday night. It was packed when I came here to eat around 9pm. It was connected to the hotel I was staying at so it was pretty convenient and it got some pretty good reviews.

I read some of the reviews and decided to get the pretzel appetizers since a lot of people said it was good. It was alright, i'm not sure why some people hyped it up so much. It's really just pretzels so yea....

I also got the braised short ribs as my main course and those were pretty average too. A little dry, I would have liked it to been more moist or at least have more sauce. It came with cheese potatoes and carrots. cheese potatoes we're pretty good.

I probably wouldn't recommend the short ribs, get a burger or something. I had a burger earlier that day so didn't want it again

We were pleasantly surprised by our lunch at this touristy gem. Beautiful lakeside location, and great food! The house salad was really good, with shredded cheese and bacon (when in Wisconsin...) The cheese curds were among the best I've had - thick battered crust. And the beer cheese was totally to die for. It wasn't greasy or thick or rich, it was well-balanced with a strong ale flavor. Love.

The lunch combos are a great deal, we got a grilled chicken wrap (again, with cheese and bacon), a side of homefries (amazing) and the soup, for like $8. We also got the barbecue chicken flatbread (read: pizza), with gouda, caramelized onions, and a really great barbecue sauce (apparently made with Jack Daniels).

Great meal, overall! I want to go back for a happy hour next time I'm in the area. Looks like it would be a lot of fun for a big group to have some apps and try their home brewed beers. I love Wisconsin!

What I had?  Sauerbraten Over Spaetzle (Marinated pot roast served with a buttery spaetzle pasta & seasonal vegetable)

Food review:  So, I was excited to find this brew pub somewhat near my hometown.  While the main purpose of this visit was to try out the beers, we did have dinner here as well.  The result of my meal was OK but odd.  The sauerbraten was pretty much no different then your regular roast beef and gravy which was good but not what I expected.  I'm not sure what sure what consistency spaetzle is supposed to have but Sprecher's spaetzle tasted a little firm but was still ok.  Now for the odd part.  The seasonal vegetable was.... asian vegetables.  That was ok but I wasn't quite expecting that to be on the side of my mostly german meal.  :-)

    Service? No complaints

This is a good pub for good burgers and beer.  They brew their own beer, which is only $5 a glass.  They also serve their own gourmet soda.

I dined here Saturday night with my boyfriend since we were spending the weekend in Lake Geneva.

The staff seemed friendly and the wait for the table was not too bad. The hostess told us 45 minutes but we only waited about 20.  A bunch of parties didn't want to wait so that helped.

The menu features different types of food that can cater to all types of eaters and taste.  The cheese curds we ordered as an appetizer tasted good.  I had the melt with a cup of french onion soup and sweet potato fries. My boyfriend had the BBQ burger, pub fries and the beet cheese soup. We split a mini creme brûlée and he had a coffee. All of this was under $50!

The downside definitely was the creme brûlée.  It tasted like it has been in the fridge too long and the creme part did not have the right consistency.  It should have been more light and this was more solidified.  I would skip it if you're eying a desert.  Thankfully it was small.

Our server was very friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was good - casual and comfortable. We would come back again if we are in the area.

I was excited to check out Sprecher's Restaurant, especially because I love their soda and live down the street from their brewery. Their Lake Geneva restaurant did not disapoint.

They serve their beer and soda here, with some of the soda on tap. I had the cream soda on tap- so good of course. They had a wide selection of food, including burgers, sandwiches, pasta, and comfort foods. My friend and I share the fried cheese curds appetizer. Yummy. For dinner I ordered the chicken pot pie, which was very good. It came with soup or salad. I ordered the French Onion soup, which was decent. Overall all the food was good and portions were big.

I'm glad I was able to check out this restaurant, especially because I like Sprecher in general. I would recommend this place when your in Lake Geneva.

Good place for good pub food and great beer.  Went here with a large group of 15.  We made reservations the day before for 7:00 on a Friday night - prime time.  Even with the reservation I was still expecting to have some sort of wait so we got there at 6:45, but to my liking our large table was ready early so we were seated right away.

Our waiter was really on his game that night.  He took our drink orders right away, several people got long islands, they were massive, strong and delicious.  I tried three of their micro brews as part of a sampler and enjoyed them all.

Their menu is pretty extensive, covers a lot of different foods from burgers to sandwiches, pastas, salads, pizzas, and then several specialty dishes.  They also recommend a beer pairing for each of their specialty entrees which is pretty neat.

I started off with the beer cheese soup and it was delicious.  I ended up getting the meatloaf for my meal and it was probably the best meatloaf I've ever had (sorry mom!).  Our table covered pretty much the whole menu and I only heard good things from everybody else about their meals.

It was a very nice dinner experience and will definitely be making a return trip, if not just for the micro brews!

I was recently at the Lake Geneva Sprecher's in August with my husband and a friend. We stopped in there to grab a quick bite to eat and some drinks. I had never been to a Sprecher's (I didn't even know it was a chain), and I had a positive experience.

We ordered two appetizers: the spinach artichoke dip and the cheese curds. Both were tasty. The dip came with tortilla chips, and the cheese curds were served with dipping sauces. We also ordered some cocktails and shots. I definitely want to go back to Sprecher's to try some of their entrees.

I liked the ambiance inside Sprecher's. It has sort of a medieval, old world feel to it. We sat in a large booth in the bar area, so we had a good view of their many TVs.

Overall, I had a good time at Sprecher's. I think it's a good option for dinner or lunch while in Lake Geneva. I definitely recommend.

I came to Sprecher's twice this summer with large and slightly rowdy groups and each time we got great food, drinks, and knock-out service!

I would recommend the beer sampler if you can't decide on what beer you like.  They also have some tasty sangria if beer is not for you.  I would most definitely try the pretzels and stuffed mushrooms as appetizers!  Delicious! After eating those, I did not even need an entree.  The wedge salad with the ranch dressing was also fresh and crisp and had a little bit of bacon which makes everything better.  My only wish is that they offered more German style cuisine.

The restaurant is also a hotel and based on my walk to the bathroom, the pool looks big and fun!  I don't know the exact rates, but I want to try and stay here my next time out to Lake Geneva!

2 stars because the lo-cal root beer is a fave and never a disappointment.

I would give less for the rest of the experience.

We went here for my birthday dinner....thought it would be fun and something different during our stay in Lake Geneva.

We were seated promptly in a booth with a tall ceiling that echoed everything you uttered.....not cool.

There was not a beer list available so we had to stretch our necks to try and read the chalkboard on the wall across the room. This list did not give any details about the beer and it did not show that they had tasting portion specials.

We had cheese curds for our appetizer with two dipping sauces (ranch and a marinara???? ewwwww) and that was so so.

There was a burger and soda special going on so I opted for it since we figured it would be the freshest. I had the turkey burger. My boyfriend had a different burger and a beer.

The burgers were a portion of the size of the bun. So Sad.
It tasted okay, but not great.

We had multiple different servers come to our table from time to time but not once did they get us or even ask us if we wanted another drink.

The food was tasteless and disappointing.

It is in a location that has been a myriad of different restaurants...I think I overheard someone say it used to be an Applebees.

I will continue to buy the soda and beer but I will not return to this joint.

You broke my heart on my birthday Sprecher Brewery in Lake Geneva....how could you?!

Visited this establishment when staying a weekend in Lake Geneva.  Happy we did.

I love Sprecher's root beer so it was awesome to have it on tap.  That was probably my favorite part, but like I said, I'm biased because I like it so much.  They also have every one of their other sodas available and ahost of beers.

The food is very much American style.  We had some burgers and salads and they were good.  They weren't the best thing I've ever tasted, but they were just fine.  I wasn't disappointed.

The atmosphere is quite nice.  It's a general casual dining establishment that is not too loud.  The servers were very nice and helpful.  Also, we were able to take home a few cases of the root beer.

If you are a fan of Sprecher's sodas, you will probably enjoy this restaurant.  If you have never had, please try - you will not be disappointed.
