I decided to try this pub fare because of the location in relationship to the movies. Â We normally hit the Sly Fox for fish and chips but we decided to give the Squire a shot and we were very impressed. I had the seared tuna sandwich and my gf had the fish and chips. Both were exceptional! The service was excellent and the beer was ice cold. Our food arrived fast and hot and we made it in perfect time for our flick. I would give it five stars but the atmosphere is no FOX but we really did enjoy our meal and time:)
Review Source:I love the steak at Squire's Pub! Â We make it a point to have a group dinner every year on our November golf trip. Â Nice selection of darker heavy beers. Â The atmosphere is a bit dark and dated but it's intent to be a replica of a English style pub so it fits. Â I am looking forward to next November!
Review Source:If any restaurant is in need of Restaurant Impossible make-over....it is Squires. Â
I went twice....hoping that the first time was just a singular bad experience....but 2 times a charm. Â
The service is good. Â All the staff are very nice and accommodating......unfortunately, it doesn't make up for the poor tasting food. Â
I had a salad the first time and a brown sugar roast beef sandwich the second time. Â There was just nothing overwhelming....very bland taste. Â We also had a black raspberry pie for dessert.....again, nothing special. Â I honestly don't have much more to say about this place.....I was so unimpressed, I can barely come up with the words to describe it. Â
THM (Take Home Message): Â Squire's seems to have its share of regulars, but it seems this restaurant is too big to survive on just a few regulars. Â I would not recommend it. Â For a slightly higher price, I think you have a better chance of getting better tasting food down the road at Sly Fox....if you're looking for the British pub fare kind of scene. Â Sorry Squire's.....just not worth trying out for a 3rd time.
Had a great dinner and fun time tonight at Squire's! The Scotch Brown was wonderful!! So glad that there was so much meat that I couldn't eat it all and have left overs! YUMMY!! Bradley was wonderful to take care of us and we enjoyed talking to Dee Dee.Thanks Squire's for everything!!
Review Source:My husband and I had dinner at Squire's on Sept 22, 2012, at about 7 pm. Â We were seated right away. Â Everything was "ok" but nothing stood out as really good. Â My husband said his chicken sandwich was good (despite having mayo after he requested it be left off), the beer selection was better than most places, and the french fries were really good. Â I ordered the big salad but it had a huge scoop of potato salad in it that I didn't order. Â Our server was very friendly and attentive but made three mistakes with the order (mayo on sandwich, potato salad, charged us for the potato salad). Â The salad didn't have all the items listed in the menu and only three olives - disappointing. Â It did taste fresh and the balsamic dressing was good. Â The bread was exactly the same as from the Walmart deli section. Â The atmosphere is relaxed and it does have a bit of an English pub feel, but the place is run down and feels neglected. Â It's doubtful that we will try it again. Â There are plenty of better places to eat in Pinehurst.
Review Source:I've been here a couple of times and the food has been really good. Â The Devonshire is awesome! Â They also have really tasty soups! Â The chicken and mushroom soup is delicious! Â I'd steer clear of the sweet tea and stick with water, beer or soda. Â This place gets busy so be patient.
Review Source:Squire's is an okay spot for some grub and a cold beer. The shepard's pie had good flavor, it's not the best but not the worst. Had a side order of peas and glad I did to mix in with the pie to get my veggie intake. The atmosphere is a little old, not old timey, just old. When I first arrived there were a few elderly gentlemen sitting at the bar watching life go by outside, they were very excited to see someone get pulled over across the street.
So if you want some basic British pub grub and a cold one stop on in.
Nice casual atmosphere. Â The service was pleasant enough. Â I ordered a cheeseburger w/fries. Â The seasoned fries were very good. Â As per NC law, I believe, the rarest I could order a burger was medium. Â Unfortunately it arrived medium-well at best. Â Despite this it was a decent burger. Â I'd return to try some of their other fare.
Review Source:I go here for the Gaelic Ale on tap. Â My other favorites include the Welsh Rarebit, the blue ribbon burger, and some hot turkey dish that I can't remember the name of. Â There are several good staff members here, but also a few who aren't very good. Â Smoking in bar area, but no cigars allowed. Â They have frequently run out of Gaelic Ale on tap, which makes me wonder about the organization skills of the management. Â Overall, a fun place for dinner (don't sit in the bar).
Review Source:Squire's Pub is a British Restaurant with steaks and traditional pub food. Â Beer selection is great as they carry a wide variety of English brews.
Atmosphere - The front door/entry is painted like you are walking into a red British phone booth. Â Inside are dark woods and paneling, which is all very "pub'ish".
Food - Â I ordered their specialty, sushi...1,2,3...ha. Â No, I got their local award winning burger. Â Yep it was good. Â Especially with a nice glass of Fuller's London Pride. Â
Service - Great and attentive. Â Made efforts on all requests, even when they did not have something I thought all British themed restaurants would have...HP Sauce.
Overall - I would like to go back again to try other dishes. Â I would still be happy just getting another burger and an ale.
Cheers!!!
