I'm usually not a fan of people Yelping chain restaurants - but considering Steak-N-Shake is non-existent in the two places I've called home, Southern California and New York, here is my take on it.
I had the Western BBQ n/ Bacon burger and my dining partner had Wisconsin Buttery Steakburger. Â Both were fine. Â The fries were cooked well but kind of bland, although they really do come to life with the special seasoning that you can add yourself. Â The Side-by-Side shakes are a neat concept, although you'll probably feel like an idiot trying to pronounce their names.
While this place has nothing on In-n-Out, I can see why some people compare it to Five Guys Burgers and Fries. Â What made this place extra special though was the quick turnaround and friendly service. Â I think it was pretty obvious to our server that we were in a rush - we had five more hours of driving ahead of us in order to make it back to Chicago in time for our dinner reservations - and he did everything possible to help speed things up.
