Finally a updated restaurant with good food and nice bar in Peabody!  So why just an A-ok review? Because of the live band.  The place is too small for a live band and I have been there on several occasions to meet up with friends and you end up yelling over the band to hear each other.  We even went on a Tuesday night thinking it might be quieter, but nope a one man band showed up.   Its too bad because the food is great, but this will deter me from going on a regular basis.

Situated off of Lynnfield Street in Peabody, Stonewood Tavern is in a nice little plaza with plenty of parking and a few other shops.  The place is new, nicely decorated with tables and a large centrally located bar.  Must have been ladies' night because there will quite a few well dressed older women and a couple of families.

Staff were pleasant, food was good and priced reasonably.  The entrees were a bit pricey - 20+.  I just got the mini sliders and my partner got the steak sandwich.  Nothing out of the ordinary - although nicer looking than your average restaurant.  Nothing bad to say about the place - which, I suppose, means it's good.

    Probably go back.

On the road. Nice place, good food. Draft IPA's on tap. Very up to date interior design, lots of windows, large bar. My colleagues had the mixed grill, everything done very well. I had the Bologenese pasta with ricotta. Nice flavor and a satisfying sized portion.  A little pricey, but considering the range of food available and the careful prep, a reasonable value. Will return.

Have never had a bad meal here and highly recommend it. Service standards at the bar could use some attention as the staff seem to chat it up with friends instead of staying focused on serving patrons...

Ambiance was great. The waiter was perfect (one that can read their customers and turn up as frequently as you want them to). The food was not good. I had the risotto it was bland, squash was undercooked for my taste, and the chicken felt like it was from a can. The whole plate needed seasoning and depth of flavor. My date had a custom dish due to allergies so maybe that would have been better when prepared as designed. The lime cilantro rice was tart and the blackened chicken seasoning was off. All spice and no flavor. I would not eat here again but might come back for drinks and an app

Are these people with the negatives reviews dining at the same restaurant that I had lunch at today? Came for lunch and sat outside on this beautiful Saturday afternoon. Two sangria's, an app of grilled chicken skewers, a grilled cheese and a grilled chicken sandwich were on the menu for my friend and I. Everything was great. We sat outside and that was the icing on the cake. I will be returning...I am just sad that I don't live closer.

A friend and I came here for dinner one night, after learning that they had changed the menu. There's ample parking, but it stinks that this nice restaurant is in the middle of a shopping plaza in Peabody. We walked in and sat down right away, no wait - only a handful of people in the very spacious restaurant. Interior was nice, comfy with the fireplace in the waiting area, but they could add a few tables to the restaurant because it looks a little empty. No exaggeration, it took the waitress 10 minutes to come over to our table to introduce herself and ask if we wanted any drinks. My friend's sauvignon blanc was not good at all, but my cabernet was yummy. For dinner, I ordered the steak tips, which came with veggies and garlic mashed potatoes. Holy garlic - they were delicious, but when I got home, my roommate couldn't even stand near me for the amount of garlic that I was emitting. The steak tips were ok, a little on the dry side, and the veggies were good. My friend got the Southwest Grilled Chicken Sandwich and said it was delicious. It came with fries, and they were nice and crispy. Overall, the meal was decent, but next time I'll go somewhere where I know the food is amazing.

I am definitely a fan...I go there at least twice a month and have not had a bad experience yet!  It's exactly what South Peabody needed!

I went for lunch on a Wednesday with my husband. Loved the ambiance, warmth & decor. Nice fire place greeted us on a cold day. Our hostess and waiter were prompt and provided excellent service.
We had the Calamari for an appetizer, yummy and different-- but small portion for price.
I had the guiness pot pie with flaky puff pastry, it looked beautiful...but it was supposed to be a pot pie full of sirloin and vegetables- I am not exagerating when I say the ONLY ingredients were sirloin and onions-- not another vegetable to be had. Also EXTREMELY salty.
My Husband had the Sirloin Tips -- "just OK" he said, and the fries were soggy. Strange that  fries were the only side available for lunch ( no potato, or vege available??). Cole Slaw also came on the side, 'yuck' according to Hubby.

floating between 2 & 3 stars..... eh ok.

Wonderful food & service. Enjoyed a flatbread appetizer that was delicious with shaved steak & blue cheese along with a fantastic
martini at the friendly bar. Say hello to Will when you visit! Bonus was the live music on Saturday night. Parking is easy. Will be recommending this place to friends!

My friend and I noticed the Stonewood Tavern and had to turn around and check it out. The parking lot was full so we figured it had to be a good place to eat. I was impressed with the ambiance when I walked in; I particularly liked the fireplace. The menu was interesting and large, but not too large. My friend started off with a Blue Moon beer and I tried their special Sangria. It was delicious and strong. My friend ordered the half chicken roasted with bbq sauce. I got the chicken squash risotto. His meal was amazing- I loved the bbq sauce. Mine was good, but I ended up sharing his meal and taking mine home (we ate it for breakfast the next day). Our waitress was very nice, and I heard her going out of her way to help the people seated next to us. You could tell she cared about service! The only faults for me lay with the seating: I hate sitting so close to other tables that you can hear every word they say and vice versa. Way too close for my liking. And the noise level was incredibly loud. In fact, I had a headache from the nonstop noise around me and noise being played at a rather loud volume throughout the eatery. I would go back, and I think it'd be a great place to go with several friends, but I hope to go on a night where the music is turned down a bit!

We tried the Stone Wood Tavern around 4:00 on a Sunday afternoon. We were very impressed with the decor when we walked into the restaraunt. Warm and Cozy feeling. We sat at the bar and greeted by two bartenders, Rob and Michelle. The both were friendly and sweet along with having a good sense of humor!  Thumbs up right there! We ordered wine, which we were not too thrilled about the cabernet and Pino Noir.  Tasting a little bit on the cheap side, but we ordered espresso martini's that were to die for. Yum, yum! Very good! We both ordered a beet salad which was very good. For dinner we both ordered burgers. They were delicious! Cooked perfect with great flavor. The sweet potato fries were very good and flavorable! Stone Wood Tavern gets a thumbs up from us! We will definitely be back to sample more meals and drinks! Keep up the good work! It is always nice to find a nice Tavern and we just found one in Peabody, MA!

The food is pretty good but the only really big complaint with this place is the hostess' at the front are clueless. It's like they only know how to deal with parties of 2.  They could care less who is there first, I swear they only want to cater to groups of 2.  After waiting 40 minutes and being told several time, 1 more party in front of you, we saw people who came in after us being seated, because they were only 2. Ok, I get it, if they have a table for 2 open they can't sit 4 there, fair enough. But then a table of four gets up, they had pushed together two smaller tables, what do they do?  They pull them apart and seat 2 separate sets of couples....who just walked in maybe 5 minutes ago. By then we had enough, the kids were hungry. So we walk up and say we're leaving and they say again, "Your next". Really?  You just sat a bunch of people but were next.
So my advice, stay away on Friday and Saturday late afternoons or evenings, unless your on a date....if you walk in with 4 or more prepare to wait forever because everyone that walks in as a party of 2 will go before you.  Plenty of places out there willing to take your money, have better food, and will seat you as you arrive.

Tried this place on a Sunday evening. Wasn't very crowded. Nice, comfortable place, a touch loud but not offenseive. Have to agree with one other reviewer that the bartenders are a little inattentive, slow and stingy with their pours.

The food gets mixed reviews. I had a special that was quite good. A little sparse on the portions but good. The other person in my party however had a salad with grilled chicken. She liked the salad but the chicken was blackened with a spice that was way over the top. I love hot stuff but one bite and this was overpowering. Considering that except for two bites she left all the chicken and the bartender didnt take notice, it's a deduction.

The portions were adequate, but by most restaurant standards they too were a bit on the small side. I had enouogh, but just barely, and leftovers were out of the question.

Overall, there were no major issues and I will try this place again.

Went here, on a whim, on a Sat. night. It was busy, but not a crazy busy. It was kind of a long wait for a table, so me and my bf found 2 seats at the bar. Loved the bar, was nice and big, roomy enough to eat. Nice atomosphere. Seems like all ages were at the bar, a few 20'ish, more of a 30-40 ish age group and a few "older" age people. Felt very comfortable. Bartenders were attentive enough, friendly, and drinks were made as requested. I got the steak tip dinner. Tips were really good, sweet pot fries were, good and came w/coleslaw. Bread and butter comes w/meal. My bf ordered the bolognese (sp) pasta. Being a very fussy (especially Italian food) he loved his dish. Different kinds of chopped meat in a nice sauce, w/clump of ricotta like cheese on top.Prices were reasonable. Altho vodka drink a little pricey, was made right tho. Definitely we'll return.

I would recommend training for bartenders. Slow service to start with. Second revisit the wine list. So so. Then, if charging 9 for a martini, fill the glass. Portions small. Fries cooked twice, maybe more. Seems they recooked what didn't get used on the last order so there are a few totally oil soaked in with the nicely cooked ones. Seasoning is excellent though. Fish dishes we tried were tasty but very small pieces of fish. Cole slaw had promise, needs some zip to it though. I looked around and there were about 4 of us at the bar with slaw, no one ate it. What a shame.

place is very pleasant - good food - but freezing and the light is wrong - to bright for a bar with live music - we have been there 5 times at least and every time we have to go and get a jacket - it makes it uncomfortable to stay there drinking when you are cold

I have driven by this place a few times and finally stopped in. We were seated immediately and the waitress (Christy I believe) was right there for our drink order. Our drinks came promptly and were delicious. I ordered off the special menu (scallop risotto) and my girlfriend ordered from the menu (cod). Both dishes were excellent, (lick the plate clean type excellent) Our drinks were kept full and our waitress was never far from our sight. We ended with the cheesecake which was fabulous too. Overall everything was excellent but on a side note. When we were seated there were many empty tables yet we were seated right next to another couple and shortly after another foursome were seated next to us although there were many other empty seats, it made the dining more crowded than it needed to be. It really did not affect us as I am very people friendly, but if you are not, ask for a secluded table before you sit.

My family took me out to Stone Wood Tavern to celebrate my birthday.

I was impressed with the delicious food, and nice ambience.

It was a Friday night at 6 PM and the resturant was nearly full, but we were seated quickly.

I recommend the nachos for an appitizer, they were plentiful (feed the 4 of us) and very tasty.

For a meal, I had the burbon glazed steak tips, which I'd order again.

The waitstaff was kind and attentive.

I'll definitely be back next time I'm on the North Shore.

Just tried this new spot last night and really enjoyed it!  The place was packed when we arrived (you can make a reservation but you must have  a party of 6+).  I was with a group, so we ordered a bottle of wine at the bar and had a seat in the waiting area.  The decor is really nice - beautiful hard wood floors, stone inlay on the walls, just really cozy and warm.

We got seated in a comfy booth and ordered a basket of sweet potato fries.  They came served with a mango ketchup, which my friend declared it was, "the best thing that has ever happened to her!"  Yes, it was that good, ketchup with a llittle twist.

I ordered the pan-seared salmon with orange honey butter.  It came served with chopped vegetables which were not quite as warm as I would have liked and more sweet potato fries (they were really good!).  The salmon was excellent and I'm very picky about how my salmon is cooked.  I would definitely order this again.

The wine selection is good - they have one of my favorites by the glass so I liked that.  Everyone in my party was happy with their meals.  Among the other meals at my table were an artichoke pasta dish that looked amazing, empanada's and grilled cheese with bacon and tomato.

Service was a little slow but hopefully that will improve with time.  My only complaints were that the vegetables were a bit cold and one of the girls in my party ordered a side of mashed potato with her meal and she didn't get it til we asked for it and by then we were just about done eating.  The food was great and the atmosphere really nice, so I will definitely recommend Stone Wood Tavern and will go back there again.

Went here on date night with my husband. We drive by it everyday so we figured no kids tonight we'll try it. The food was good. The nachos hit the spot. We had a pitcher of Sangria (white) there was a lot for 2 people. We left very full. The place was clean and quiet, TVs within view & great service. I got the fried clam appetizer as my meal, they were ok. Will probably go again for drinks & nachos.

My wife and I wanted to try someplace new and this seemed to fit the bill. I got the blue cheese salad with chicken, which seemed to be price right. The dressing tasted like it was missing something, it just did not have the expected flavor. The atmosphere was to our liking, plenty of tv's  surrounding the bar and plenty of windows, nicely done. I would try it again. Our server was pleasant and accommodating.

The prices are just a touch higher than most other local sit-down restaurants, but not unreasonable. There are some interesting options on the menu that can make this place a destination spot. I have to admit, though, I was slightly disappointed in the burgers. The burger patty itself looked like a store-bought, pre-made patty, instead of being handmade, the way most restaurants make them. Other than that, the quality of the food was good. Definitely worth keeping in mind, for when I have a few extra bucks to spend on a night out.

Hubby and I went a week or so ago to check it out.  Loved the decor..nice size bar area and generally great looking place.  Hubby had steak tips which he said were pretty good.  I ordered the fish sandwich (broiled) which was a mistake.  Fish was so wet it soaked the hamburg bun to the point I couldnt eat it.  Also very small piece of fish for the $$ I thought.
We will come back and give it another try since we really thought the place had great potential and the location was great for us. Plenty of parking which is also a plus.
