Straight Off The Road BBQ

So... another (AND THE LAST) piss poor experience at Straight Off the Road BBQ . I called in dinner and Clint ordered the bbq chopped beef potato with EXTRA bbq sauce on the side. By definition, you would THINK it would include BBQ sauce. Apparently not. When I paid, I specifically asked the girl working the register if there was extra sauce in the bag. Didn't want to have to cut it open to check it. Anyways, she assured me yes, with the owner John sitting right there that it was in there. She said "You specified it on the phone, I specified it the guys in the back and then they specified it back there". I said"okay, thanks... don't want to listen to my husband talk about not having enough", thanked them and left. LO and BEHOLD, I get home and there is NO sauce at all, no sauce in the chopped beef and none on the side like requested! So I called, John gets on the phone and scoffs when I tell him there was no sauce. Then he says "I bagged it myself". He continued the diatribe with saying I must not see it and so forth and so on. The insinuation was that I was lying. WHY?! Why would I lied about no sauce! If I'm gonna lie, it's not gonna be about not having bbq sauce! LOL!  Intereresting that he bagged it himself when he was sitting at the front counter the entire time. Secondly, REALLY?! I really want free BBQ sauce or a meal?! No. I'm not poor and your restaurant is not expensive. I'm good. What I want is for you to run your business and be proactive (double check bags, etc.) instead of reactive and rude. So for all of my friends who say they don't eat there because the owners are rude, I fully understand. The service has been awful the last three times for sure also. Won't be long before they are forced to shut down because people get tired of their superior attitudes. Sad thing is, I've been supporting them since they were in the tiny trailer next to ACE. GET OVER IT JOHN AND CHERYL! You have lost yet ANOTHER customer! Goings, I'm baaaackkk!!!

If I was JUST rating the food, they would have gotten about 3 stars, but since I'm rating for customer service and professional integrity, they get a 1 only because I can't give negative rating points.

I grew up in Tx so thought I would swing by after a long flight from CA and a drive to Beaumont. I had the bbq sandwich - Avoid!  It was terrible!  I've had better BBQ in CA, and that's saying something cause the BBQ in CA is awful. Save yourself the money and go elsewhere.  Deserves 1/2 star.

5 stars on food and 1 star on service. I have loved Straight Off The Road BBQ before they built the new building.  The service has always been bad by the same lady for years.  The attitude is not of service or hospitality, more like she looks down her nose to the locals.  The food on the other hand is wonderful.  They make the BEST chicken fried steak I've ever had in my life!!!!  I think going out to eat should be an experience you share with family and friends.  When I walk away from here my tummy is happy, but I wish my family and colleagues were treated better when visiting this establishment.  There are more and more days I pass on a wonderful meal here, because it's just not worth the experience.
