I wasn't expecting much from a restaurant situated in a touristy looking condominium complex, but boy was I wrong. After leaving the waterfront area of Manteo with a bad taste in my mouth from a rude hostess, my family and I were looking for a place to feed our starving ranks. I relied on trusty yelp to lead me away from gross food, and Stripers seemed like it might be an ok choice. It turned out to be great. The view was fantastic. Our server was incredible. And, as a bonus, the food was really tasty and very fresh. I knew we were off to a good start when our server checked the belt buckle on the high chair. NEVER in my 4.5 years of being a parent have I seen someone do that. We were eating at kind of an off time (around 2:00), and that had absolutely no effect on the service. The food came out promptly and was clearly being prepared as we asked for it. The kids ate 2 lbs of freshly steamed shrimp that were very good. My seafood stew (recommended by our sever) was so delicious. Typically those types of stews are heavy (seafood in what amounts to tomato soup). This was fresh seafood and veggies in a light tomato broth. DELISH. My husband had a salad with steak, and he liked it very much. Portions were reasonable, not too big and not too small. Good beer on tap. A definite winner in our book.
As a bonus, our server was very helpful with menu choices and accommodating related to our toddler having to eat gluten and egg free. He even insisted on bringing out the ice cream container for my husband to check. He was very personable and a lot of fun to have as a server.
**Forgot we had the chicken wings, which were very, very yummy.

The food at Striper's was pretty good.  My husband and I stopped in for breakfast, and we both had the crab Benedict.  The only bad thing was the coffee, but it wasn't the worst that I've ever had.  The view here is pretty, and it's tucked away and quiet for breakfast.  The potatoes served with the eggs were really good (my husband claimed that they were salty, but he's not writing the review), and the crab tasted pretty fresh.  The service was good and the prices were reasonable.

Food: Great. I enjoy their seafood dishes. It is a bit more expensive than some are used to I'm sure, but pretty typical for the area overall.

    Service: Ok.

    Parking: Plenty of parking

Overall: I will continue to dine here and call in take away orders

From 3:30-5:30 half priced steamed shrimp and snow crab legs, you can not beat that price. Plus the crab legs were great.

One of the specials they had was Alfredo Pasta with Shrimp. For $20 a plate, they brought out alfredo sauce that was way too heavy on the black pepper and super spicy, and I consider myself a fan of spicy food. This was simply overkill. The shrimp to pasta ratio was also pretty poor for that pricey of an entree.

My girlfriend got sick off the same thing. Not great.

Best rockfish I've had in a long time! I had the rockfish quesadilla & am a fan for life. Hubs got the pork chop w/mashed potatoes & also really enjoyed his. Great view paired with prompt & friendly service = a real winner.

One tip? This place is NOT easy to find. Turn at the road between Darrell's & McDonald's. It will look like you're in a condo development -- keep going. Stripers is at the very end, around almost to the back. Worth the search for it for sure.

Stripers is newly reopened after a year in transition.  For anyone who knew the old Stripers, this is the same location and same menu but under new management (which is a good change).  Seating is on 3 levels.  There is a bar on the first floor and tables on 2 and 3.  This helps keep some of the crown noise down but all three levels offer a nice view of the waterfront.

The food is excellent.  In particular they offer a "light" version of many menu items which is a good sized portion for anyone who is not trying to be a candidate for the "Biggest Loser",  and at a reasonable price.  We had the"light" sized  rockfish which was moist, tasty, and came with potato and fresh vegetable.  The fried flounder was similarly fresh and well prepared.

Overall I think Stripers offers very good food and value.  Would definitely go back.

Why did I find this listing under night life? It's a restaraunt, not a night club.

This place is a favorite spot for the nearly dead. Clients average age is 70.

Food is average. Every meal I've ever had here has been average. Nothing awful, nothing great. We've eaten here a lot considering Manteo isn't exactly known for tons of places to eat, and all of my favorite places keep closing is Claras, Green Dolphin, Dr. hook and the Medicine Show's All You Can Eat BonanZa and Car Wash Emporium.

This has just reopened as Stripers again, and we took my father-in-law there for lunch and we were not impressed.

The food was overpriced.  I had a pork chop which was pretty good, but food was served with hard bread (they were going to cook some hush puppies but we never heard back).

The waitress/bartender was NOT interested in waiting on us.  She barely checked back, and the couple times she did, she never bothered to refill my father-in-laws empty coffee cup, never asked if we needed anything, etc.

We used to eat lunch there a lot when it was Shallowbag - but will not be going back to the "new" Stripers.

Ate at the bar. Amazing tile fish entree. You can tell the chef cares and knows what he is doing. Good lighting, check.

Now called "Harbor Point Bar & Grille", this bar and restaurant has incredible waterfront views on all three levels, with indoor and outdoor seating. Food was tasty. Great prime rib. Service was so-so. Moderately pricey, but specials were very affordable.

The pan-seared scallops were crisp with juicy tender insides.  Perfection!    The local chowder was super salty though.

If you can go from 4-6 pm try to do it as all steamers are half price and most main course meals are 20% off.  The steamers are delicious!  You can get Snow or King Crab legs as well as peal and eat local shrimp and clams or oysters.

Also ask to sit on the third floor roof top which has incredible views of the sound and Manteo harbor or if it is too hot ask to sit in the enclosed porch on the first floor.  (their are elevators to go up and down the floors)

My wife and I always go as we leave town on the annual family beach trip to Duck.  It is located in Manteo and is a little hard to find as you have to drive into a condo development and it is at the back of it.  But it is worth the drive.  The food is all fresh and local for the most part.  The fish of the day is normally incredible.  I had swordfish filets yesterday, they gave me two and they were cooked perfectly.  One year they had Mahi and one year it was Rockfish.  My wife does not like fish and always gets the fried shrip which are truly the best fried shrimp I have ever had.  They are local, large, and lightly fried.

I have been a fan of this place since it first opened as Stripers and it is now called something else but it is as good as the original and the menu has changed little.

When it first opened it was incredible and it went a little downhill but with the new name and management they are at the same levels where they were when they first opened if not better.

This is one of the best restaurants at the outer banks in my opinion as far as quality of food, price, and ambiance or views.

This was suggested by my step mother.  She had eaten here before and was happy with it.  First, I ate here for lunch, so it was not busy.  The service was very good.  As the previous reviewer stated, it is pricey, but worth it.  I got the fried grouper with fries.  The portions were very generous for being the small.  The large was twice as much, and would have been more food than needed.  It was the best grouper that I had on my entire 10 day vacation.  The also have non-seafood items on menu, but I didn't try any.  The view out over the sound was great.  There may be many other seafood restaurants that we could have gone to, but this is definitely worth a repeat visit.

Overall....this was what a 3 star stands for, "OK". The food was pretty good.....pricey....... but didn't knock my socks off. The view of the water is beautiful, but there are ZERO boats in the marina in front of the place, which is kind of depressing.

We got the Rockfish Reuben (Stripped Bass...made Reuben style)....decent, pricy at $10.50 for a sandwich. My wife got  Fried Oysters....which were good....some shells were attached which almost took my filling out.......another guest with us got a Mahi BLT......again, it was good......but not great.

We had 12 people in our party...some of which were kids (kids meals were $6-7....no drink included)......Bill was about $300. Was it worth it.......mmmmmm......It was pricey (yea...I'm repeating myself).

There are 200 other restaurants.....some very close by on the Manteo Waterfront......if I had to go back, I'd check them out first. If you have to go to Stripers....you won't be disappointed.....but you might have a pretty light wallet.......service was pleasant and quick.
