Suds is a great place if you want to just hangout, listen to music, play bar games, and of course drink. It's a nice change from the up-beat dance club bars with music so loud you can't chat with one another.

They have two happy hours, which are a great deal, Buy one Get one for $1. The early one from 3-6 is nice for the people who want to take a load off after a long work day. The late one is from 930-11 and usually attracts the younger crowd that's out bar hopping for that evening.

I wish the food was better, but because this is a bar and not a restaurant I was not too surprised. Their pizza is pretty good, along with the nachos and a few sandwiches, but otherwise I would suggest eating somewhere else if you are expecting something better.

I thought the service was great. The waitress was obviously swamped when we were there so I wasn't upset about having to wait a few minutes to be noticed. However, when she realized we were there the service was great from then on. The bartenders seemed very friendly and attentive.

Overall, I think this is a great bar to just hang out at. It has a local- dive bar feel which I liked. Service - good, drinks- good, prices- good, food- okay.

I loved going to Suds for happy hour when I was at at Beloit College ('07).  I was recently back in Beloit for one night only, for the first time since The summer of 2007.  My fiancee and I were passing through, and we decided to meet up with some friends who are still around town, and we chose Suds as our location.

We sat on the deck because it was a warm August evening, and we had our dog.  Suds was busy as usual, so it was a bit difficult to get noticed at first by the staff, but after the first round, our waitress was very attentive.  She even brought some water for our dog.

I was a bit disappointed how the happy hour had changed (back in the day it was double bubble, 2-for-1 drinks from 4-6pm.  Now it was something like half price drinks, which is arguably better because you don't need to order 2 to get the discount, but I missed out on some of that nostalgia).  But the beer and food were great (and the peanuts satisfying as ever), and we stayed through the evening.  At about 10PM, we all decided to order 1 last drink.  We each ordered our poison, and the waitress brought out 2 of each.  Turns out there is now a second happy hour, and it's the double bubble!!  I was so excited.

Suds was a great place to spend our one evening in town.

Coming from a community with a wide and varied nightlife scene, I really wanted to like Sud's. We've visited twice and unless the service improves I don't think I'll give them a third shot.

On our first visit we waited about ten minutes before we were acknowledged by the staff, then it was several minutes more before we could order. We didn't find anything too appealing on their one-page food menu, but decided to take a chance and try the nachos.

The weren't half bad. The drinks were good too, and since we went during happy hour they weren't too expensive. We both ordered from the New Glarus selection and were surprised and pleased when the the bottles were served in a bucket of ice.

However, we cut our trip short when we discovered that unlike our native Illinois, people could still smoke in bars in Wisconsin. We returned recently (after Wisconsin passed it's own smoking ban), and we felt we were met with knowing, disapproving stares from the other customers. We waited at a table for about ten minutes without being noticed. We left and ate somewhere else.

I really liked the oak walls and booths, and the happy hour prices were good. But the lack of a better food menu combined with poor service makes it hard for me to recommend this place.
