Although the wait for food was very, very long... the food was outstanding. Also, the waiter, and the manager were so nice, and went out of their way to make the wait better, they comped us a bunch of appetizers and all of it done with a smile and a really warm and gracious attitude. The food was totally a hit. We had beef negamaki, hibachi steak and shrimp. sukiyaki, and teriyaki We asked that the watch the salt, and the food was not salty at all, yet had great flavor. Everything was fresh and delicious. I cannot believe I am going to say this, but the red bean ice cream was soo good! We will definitely go back, and we will definitely recommend to others. Oh, also, I had been very loyal to a different hibachi place in the county for years.. I am now making the switch to Sugi.
Review Source:Sugi is a fun hibachi & sushi joint that promotes a family and friends dinning experience with folks from Rockland. The chef was entertaining and knew his craft. We enjoyed salmon hibachi with vegetable Lo mein & fried rice. It was a great night. Always fun to interact with the folks at the at the other tables. Â service is very attentive
Review Source:The lunch specials at Sugi are reasonably priced and delicious, but what really sets this place apart for me is the service; my son and I have been going here after story time since he was about a year and a half old, and the waiters have gone above and beyond to make it a positive experience. Â From teaching him to use kiddie-chopsticks (he will NOT use a fork for Asian food anymore!) to making origami boats with, to allowing him to feed the koi in the small fish pond at the entrance, I have never felt anything but welcome in the restaurant (which is not always the case when dining with a toddler).
Review Source:I had a walk-in dinner in the dining room and ordered off the regular menu. Â First off the place was almost impossible to find because they had their restaurant lights off during Happy Hour, we noticed they turned them on after HH was over. Â With two kids present the Hibachi experience wasn't necessary so this review is based on their dining room experience. Â The food in the place was definitely a hit or miss experience. Â The service was utterly horrible. Â Not only did they mess up the order, but we repeatedly asked them for a refill on the hot tea and water (it never happened), as well as our check. Â If it takes 20 minutes to receive your bill and the place was NOT busy there is something wrong. Â Additionally, a bill for $75 in butchered and I mean BUTCHERED sashimi is very disappointing. Â Any other place would be embarrassed to serve such hacked up pieces of fish. Â They did have a delicious chicken and udon noodle dish but at $14, I doubt that I would return.
Review Source:Pretty good hibachi. I got the scallops and loved them, although slightly overcooked if I'm nitpicking. The highlights of the night for me though were the salmon and hamachi sashimi and that jasmine green tea - good lord that stuff was insane! I actually asked the owner if I could buy some AND the cup it came in. Â No such luck but great visit back home.
Review Source:this is a very good hibachi place, with very reasonable prices and good drinks. Â In my humble opinion, id rather hit this joint up over the fabled mt. fuji as i like to park my own car (f valet's) and not pay for the extra bs....i just want great tasting food and drink! Â and thats precisely what you get here. Â Im gonna say it now...best hibachi in rockland county!
Review Source:Here is a great Japanese Restaurant. The people there are great, the food is awesome, and the prices are more than fare. Have you ever been to a hibachi place and left still hungry? I can guarantee you that, that will never happen at this place. The people cooking your food have such a great personality and make you laugh. What more could you ask for!!
