Really friendly staff and great stop off point for our road trip!

Service was quick and I loved that dogs are allowed.... there were so many adorable dogs! And they were all well behaved.

I had the fish tacos and they were delish. The fish tasted fresh and I loved the assortment of sauces that it came with. I also tried my mom's turkey sandwich and the turkey was moist and the bread complimented the insides well.

    Will defo stop by again.

err...I don't know why this place got such great reviews

Service was fine.  Everyone was friendly and attentive.

Food was really just not good.  My husband and I split the soup of the day, New England clam chowder.  It came to the table tepid and sort of congealed.  The waiter was very nice about heating it up for us.  Unfortunately it only came up a notch warmer and still an unappetizing consistency.  Tasted like canned soup but probably less the sodium you would find in a can.

He got the burger with jalapeno cheese.  Tasteless and not worth the calories.

I got the club.  Really sloppy.  Turkey cold cuts tasted gross.  Definitely not fresh.  They really piled on the mayo. Made my stomach uneasy for the rest of the day.

We both got the curly fries as our sides.  Curly fries were fine.

We got two sodas and a coffee.  Bill came out to be $40 with tip and tax.  ERrr...not worth the $$ to get Denny's caliber food.  Yuck.

With grand reviews, I expected much more from this place.  Came in here with 12 of my friends, on our way home from a bachelorette.  There was a bit of a wait but it looked as though everyone enjoys this place so we were excited to try.

I ordered the Kings old combo with waffle and strawberries.  It comes with eggs, bacon and a sausage patty.  The food overall was really good.  However, the service was mediocre.  People who were being seated after us got their drinks before us.  When we needed refills, we had to ask for them.  In actuality, I think we saw our server a total of 3 times during our meal.  In the beginning, which we needed to ask her to take our order,  next when we asked for water and utensils (which we had to ask for because the table was not set up properly prior to us being seated) and then at the end to ask for our bill.

    Therefore the 2 star review.

Probably my favorite breakfast spot ever. I've never been disappointed. They have a great menu and serve pretty big plates. You get so full!

Really enjoy the atmosphere and breakfast selections.  Relaxing beach place, nice town to stroll.  Good food, good coffee, friendly people, nice quiet town to stroll, and oh ya let's not forget the ocean across the way.

Stayed in a rented beach house here in Summerland and hit this place up on two separate occasions (one for breakfast and one for lunch).  Really liked the atmosphere and food here.  Had the stereo omelette upon recommendation from our awesome waitress Carly!  She didn't steer me wrong.  Loved it.  Came back and were lucky enough to have the same waitress and I tried the Bleu Cheese Hamburger.  Loved it as well!  Good food, excellent service.  Will definitely be back in the future.  Oh, and btw they are dog friendly too!

Once again we enjoyed a wonderful breakfast at the Summerland Beach Cafe on the way to Santa Barbara. This place is becoming my favorite breakfast destination. Cheers

This place is the BEST breakfast join for miles, the T.T.F.N. salad is so delicious and the Serendipity breakfast is to die for. I have been going here since I was 8 and will always come back again and again.

February 11th is the day that my mom had me all those years ago and it's also the day that I can get a free meal at this fine establishment.

I'm so glad that they do this instead of some silly song, dance and candle topped cupcake.

Thanks SBC for the delicious club sandwich and the great service!

Being frequent travelers from Northern CA to Southern we often chose 101 for the scenery and better stops.  We have often stopped  at Summerland Beach Cafe for lunch, this morning we were going home early so a perfect breakfast stop or so we thought........

The service was fine until we got our meal, we were never offered more coffee, my.food was served room temp.  I ordered eggs Benedict, the poached eggs were solid, with a dribble of hollandaise. After waiting way too long for a check we walked to the front and had to ask for it where we were greeted by who I assume was a manager,I relayed my dissatisfaction with my meal very politely he in turn barely acknowledged it and handed us the bill.  Very poor reaction, I didn't expect more than a simple apology since i didn't choose to send my plate back but that was even too much trouble.

In fairness I have to say my husbands breakfast was fine, a simple bacon and eggs seems to be the fare of choice at Summerland Beach Cafe.

We stopped here recently on a trip to Santa Barbara, and I am so glad we did!

The atmosphere is great- quaint with an ocean view, can't beat that. I had the crab cake benedict which was fabulous, and HUGE. My husband ordered some other huge breakfast dish. The coffee was great, the only sad part is we didn't finish our breakfast since it was so much food!

Afterwards we walked around town to work off all that food, and came upon many other great establishments, but that is for another review.

If you are going through Summerland, definitely stop here!

I don't know that I was excited about this place one way or the other, but when I finally had a chance to go (my hours in Summerland didn't match up with the Cafe hours), I went!

The wait neared 15 minutes on a Friday around 1130, and the service was lukewarm until our server was switched out for some reason--then we had this ball of energy and smiles--I think his name was Luis.

I was really excited about the turkey burger options, and the onion rings, etc, but what looked good on the menu didn't really translate. The best way to put it is the first bite (of everything) was intriguing, and then I just lost interest. The curly fries seemed a bit stale. The coffee was solid.

No real ocean view, but it is a cute enough place to go if you're curious--I just don't know that the food lives up to the fervor of the waiting crowds...

I only come there when Tim is working. He makes it a five star experience every time. I hope he gets his Christmas bonus every year, because he works his tail off. Never has a frown on his face. High energy. It's hard to find "morning people" round these parts that are chipper and eager to please! The food Is mediocre, but I go in for Tim's pep talk. Some of the servers are really great. I like the redhead, and a younger blonde lady. I can't remember their names, but they  know exactly how I want my eggs, and they always come out right! You guys are a great team! Don't stop giving away free dumdum suckers.

It's a great weenend brunch place for good reasons.  Old Victorian house at a great location.  There are several terraces for outdoor seating on picnic tables and wooden chairs.   The breakfast food is hearty and delish. And they name the dishes after local businesses.  Wait staff seems to be the local school kids so it feels very local and homey.   Great experience for a city girl.

I don't know why we never stopper here before!

We came on a whim after going to the Orchid farms in Carp.

The first trip I had the eggs benedict and the 2nd trip I had the waffle.

    YOU MUST GET THE WAFFLE!

The eggs benedict was AMAZING but the waffle trumped it.

My eggs were cooked perfectly over medium.  This is how we gauge a good breakfast place.  If they can get your eggs cooked right everything else is usually pretty good.

My fiance had the mexican breakfast and he said it was excellent.

Staff was great.  It's nice to sit outside on the patio with your dog.  The people there are so laid back and friendly.

my FAVORITE breakfast/brunch place in all of Santa Barbara county! The food is amazing, I recommend Creative Stereo and Video which is a huge omelette filled with cheeses, applewood smoked bacon, and artichoke hearts. YUM YUM! The staff here is quick and attentive and this place is animal friendly! A lot of the menu items are named after cute stops in Summerland. This is a MUST visit breakfast stop. You will have leftovers!

Thought it was a cute place, great service, and fair pricing. However, I wasnt a fan of the crab cake bennedict. I'm a huge crab cake fan, but these seemed really "fishy" tasting, which ironically is something you don't want in seafood.

I was a fan of the french toast. Although, I prefer more "custard-y" types of French toast, but still appreciated the moistness of these ones.

Pros: Very attentive & friendly service/staff, wonderful patio views, nice menu selections for breakfast or lunch. Food is very good, many healthier choices as well. Creative dishes. Great prices which are tough to find in this area.

Cons: Not open for dinner, which really isnt a con, they just aren't open.

I've come here a few times, the first for lunch and the others for breakfast. I appreciate that they allow dogs on the patio, the view is fantastic, and the service is really good and attentive.

    BUT

I liked their breakfast the first time I had it but it came out really quick. Well, after a few episodes of Kitchen Nightmares I quickly learned that when your food comes out of a restaurant faster than an order of McDonald's french fries that it can only mean one thing, pre-made food sitting under a heat lamp, euw! I think any respectable restaurant should know better. I don't want bacon that's been under a heat lamp, sorry. However, I still think the waffles are fantastic, just not enough to make me want to come back and order home potatoes that look like they've been sitting in a bucket for three hours.

Summerland Beach Cafe is my regular breakfast stop on the way to Santa Barbara wine country. It's a superior alternative to breakfast in the city of Santa Barbara because:
    a) it's right off the highway
    b) there's hardly any traffic
    c) parking is relatively easy (compared to city parking)

For a day of wine, I need a high carb breakfast, so you'll usually find me tucking into their delicious, plate-size portion of crispy/puffy Belgium waffle or egg-y-pudding-like French toast. (Just so you know, pancakes are not served here. Don't know why, but that's how it is.) Include some bacon, juice, and coffee or tea, and my belly and I are good for the next six hours of wine tasting.

At other times, I'll be ordering something with eggs, usually sunny-side up or in some guise involving a runny yolk. This place has egg prep down. And if I really want an egg breakfast, I think this place offers . . . what? . . . a dozen omelet choices? Omelets might be dry once in awhile, but they are most often moist and delectable.

Summerland Beach Cafe also has burgers and sandwiches, but I don't have lunch here often enough to recall how good they are, so I'll say no more. But for breakfast, definitely a worthy stop.

A mild caveat: When the place gets busy, the wait staff will rush to keep up. Given the small size for the kitchen, I'm amazed at how well they keep up with a mostly full house. But once the place is full, attention will be spread thin.

Pros: Serving breakfast and lunch all day long. Dog-friendly patio and they give all dogs a treat and their own water bowl. Private lot in front and across the street. They have a loyalty club.

    Cons: None.

Tip: Fish tacos are freshly grilled and not fried. Nice and light without having to squirt lime/lemon.

    Pros:
    Great customer service
    good food
    good portions
    good coffee
    cute decor (country house theme)
    wall of celebrities
    $8-12 plates

    Cons:
not a great ocean view, even from outside..but a nice view of the highway

I came to this place on my way to San Francisco on Thanksgiving around noon. The estimated seating time was 20minuntes, but we were seated within 10 minutes. Service was great and the place is clean and very cute. I got the two-two-two and my boyfriend got the french toast. Both were amazing. Coffee tasted freshly brewed and the refills were non-stop. Overall, this place is a great stop off the 101 freeway!

A great place to stop for breakfast if you are traveling in the Santa Barbara area.  Its a really convenient stop off the 101 without all the congestion of downtown SB.

I ordered the "creative stereo" omelette that came with their breakfast potatoes, fruit and toast.  I'm usually not an omlette person, but this one was delicious with baby artichokes and bacon...I will definitely stop by more often in the future... I have no idea why the omelette is named "creative stereo" ... I guess I will have to ask next time I have one.

The place is casual, old historic building, nice outdoor table area.

While cruising up Pacific Coast Highway from Los Angeles to Santa Barbara, we stumbled along this oceanside cafe and decided to give it a try.  The food and the service were great.  The restaurant featured a country styled theme that perfectly blended in with the neighboring rustic buildings and antique shops.

What really struck my fancy was the following excerpt in the menu regarding table etiquette:

    "Small Points on Table Etiquette"

"Delicacy of manner at table stamps both man and woman, for one can, at a glance, discern whether a person has been well-trained to eat well -- i.e to hold the knife and fork properly, to eat without the slightest sound of the lips, to drink quietly, to use the napkin rightly, to make no noise with any of the implements of the table, and last, but not least, to eat slowly and masticate the food thoroughly. All these points should be most carefully taught to children, and then they will always feel at their ease at the grandest tables in the land. There is no position where the innate refinement of a person is more fully exhibited than at the table, and nowhere that those who have not been trained in table etiquette feel more keenly their deficiencies.

When seating yourself at the table, unfold your napkin and lay it across your lap in such a manner that it will not slide off upon the floor. A gentleman should place it across his right knee. Do not tuck it into your neck like a child's bib.

Be very careful not to clatter your knives and forks upon your plates, but use them without noise.

Drink sparingly while eating. It is far better for the digestion not to drink coffee or tea until the meal is finished. Drink gently and do not pour it down your throat like water turned out of a pitcher.

The knife should never be used to carry food to the mouth, but only to cut it up into small mouthfuls, then place it upon the plate at one side, and take the fork in the right hand, and eat all the food with it. When both have been used finally, they should be laid diagonally across the plate, with both handles toward the right hand. This is understood by well-trained waiters to be the signal for removing them together with the plate.

Be careful to keep the mouth shut closely while masticating the food. It is the opening of the lips which causes the smacking which seems very disgusting. Chew your food well, but do it silently, and be careful to take small mouthfuls.

It is not considered good taste to mix food on the same plate. Salt must be left on the side of the plate and never on the tablecloth.

One's teeth are not to be picked at table. But if it is impossible to hinder it, it should be done behind the napkin.

If, to conclude, one seats one's self properly at table and take reason into account, one will do tolerably well. One must not pull one's chair too closely to the table, for the natural result of that is the inability to use one's fork and knife without inconveniencing one's neighbors. The elbows are to be held well in and close to one's side, which cannot be done if the chair is too near the board. One must not lie or lean along the table, nor rest one's arms upon it.

Finally, when rising from your chair, leave it where it stands."

    Pretty old school huh?

I love this place. It is way out of my way but I come up here to have brunch with my cousins every few months. It is nice sitting inside but if it is a nice day then I would recommend sitting outside. They also allow dogs on the patio so you might see a furry friend soaking up some rays and betting for noms.

I am a big fan of their club sandwich and curly fries. Their burgers are huge and so are their onion rings.

I haven't had their breakfast but have had a few nibbles here and there and I think their omelette's are good.

Their portions are big and I haven't finished a meal there once yet. I always end up taking food home. Their prices are reasonable for what you get.

I only go on the weekends and have never had a problem around the noon hour getting a table or service. This is a great stop for eats on the way up the coast or on your way back from a trip.

Summerland Beach Cafe - doesn't that just sound idyllic?  I took brunch here with Matt B. and we sat on the lovely patio and had a pleasant meal, enjoying the perfect weather.  There was no problem getting seated and the service was very friendly.  The atmosphere was relaxed and casual, and after we ate we took care of the check at the front of the restaurant.

I ordered the Sandpiper, a huge omelet loaded with mushrooms, diced tomato, and basil.  I was impressed by the tall, fluffy egg - it had an almost cake-like texture that I would love to be able to replicate.  The flavors were great, but I did find the insides slightly watery.  The omelet came with a side of skin-on potatoes that were fantastic, a little crispy and well salted.  There was also a slice of fresh cantaloupe and a tasty buttered English muffin served with a side of apple butter.  Matt got the Belgian waffle with strawberries, and this was a good light waffle with a little chew.  The strawberries, though, were not very good.

All in all, though, Summerland Beach Cafe was a sunny spot for a solid brunch.  If the mounted headshots are to be believed, it has quite a few celebrity patrons.  The place isn't really a scene, but if I were famous and living near Summerland, I'm sure I would seek out the place for a leisurely meal just like anyone else.

Wonderful house-turned-cute-cafe that Yelp reviews guided me towards. Loved the crabs benedict and the bacon. A family of four can easily split 3 plates and end up full & happy.

The cutest little touch: the men's bathroom is marked "Roosters" and the women's is marked "Hens." Love.

If it wasn't so overcast today, we would've sat outside! If I return to Santa Barbara in the summer, I will return for Summerland Beach Cafe without a doubt. Bravo!

    Definately a good stop.

It's a cute restaurant off the 101 where they seat you on pinic benchs under umbrellas surrounded by flowers. It's a cozy place with good food. We came here for brunch, though we all ended up getting beakfast. The OJ was fresh and yummy. I orded the two-two-two (something like that) that came with 2 pieces of french toast, bacon, and eggs. The french toast was way yummy with great cinnamon and sugar flavors. The bacon was thick cut and crunch. My other friends order other dishes which also looked so yummy. The dish were quite big so there's was plenty of food for 2 to split.

It was sunny and warm that day and sitting outside was great!

We stopped at Summerland based on a recommendation from my friend's mom.  We were carvaning up to Paso Robles for a weekend of wine tasting with my good friends.  Summerland was the perfect pit stop for a bite to eat.  It's just off the 101 and the little town is so cute with little shops and antique stores.

If it's a nice day, sit outside and soak up the sun.  Most of us ordered breakfast and it came in large quantities and it all looked yummy.  I ordered a turkey sandwich and it was ok, but I'm such a turkey sandwich snob.  I cannot stand compressed turkey meat and neglected to ask the server if it was real turkey or compressed.  Still, the sandwich was ok.  Next time, I'll choose to go with breakfast.

Just got to sample the place, a little pit stop on the highway of life.

Coffee was very good, people were nice, and the sun will always smile on you.

    Or something like that.

Exit on Evans Avenue on the 101 Freeway. This place is worth the 90 mile drive. I had the Summerland Ranch Hand Special, with a full slice of Smoked Ham, Bacon, a Sausage Patty and three Scrambled Eggs. See picture! My companions had the Waffles.

The Waffles are huge, toasty on the outside and soft and tasty on this inside. Topped with Bananas, Strawberries and Maple Syrup.

On a trip up to Paso Robles, my wife, some friends and I stopped here for a quick bite around lunchtime. First off, this sleepy beach town is beautiful,  a perfect stop during a long road trip. If we ever travel this way again, we'll probably stop here again just because of the environment.

This cozy beach home turned cafe was lively, busy but not overcrowded on a Friday afternoon. They have both indoor and patio seating. We opted for the sun despite a chilly wind.

Since none of us had eaten breakfast, we all went that route. I can't remember what everyone had, but everyone enjoyed their meal. I got my typical waffle and egg combo because I'm on a quest to find the perfect waffle. This was pretty damn close to perfect. The waffle was soft on the inside with perfectly crispy edges, scrambled eggs cooked as if I made them myself, and the coffee perfect.

In short, if Summerland Beach Cafe was in Long Beach, I wouldn't eat breakfast anywhere else.

Fast, friendly service with excellent food?  I'm so there.

I got their Crabby Bill's Benedict and opted for a small seasonal fruit platter instead of their coleslaw or fries at no additional charge.  I was expecting just a few pieces of fruit but instead, I was pleasantly surprised with a good sized selection of strawberries, banana pieces, cantaloupe, oranges and grapefruit.  All the fruits were not only in season but sweet.  Yum!!

But the crab benedict!!  Omg, the crab benedict!!  It was soooo good.  In fact, I am seriously considering driving back all the way from LA just to eat this.

Another reason why I love this place?  The back of the menu features a full page article on proper table etiquette.  Nice!

The only thing that made me sad?  They're not open for dinner.  They're open for breakfast and lunch only.  I considered my dinner options as I munched away on my fruit and then decided to get something from here to go and have that for dinner.  I got their grilled Mahi Mahi tacos.  3 tacos for $9 (that's one of their Monday-Friday specials).  I kept it in my mini refrigerator and ate it a few hours later.  It was still good even when it was cold.

I can't wait to come back to eat my way through their menu.

I live in West Covina and make frequent trips to Santa Babs to visit Family. On those trips I make it a point to stop at this little gem both on the way in and the way out for breakfast. (Sometimes Patrick's Roadhouse is the breakfast joint on the way to S.B.)

Sit out on the patio and watch the traffic whiz by and get ready to enjoy.
I've had everything from a simple bowl of oatmeal to Eggs Benedict. And have NEVER been disappointed. I have never had anything other than breakfast foods, so I can't tell you about lunch or dinner.

Quantity is just enough to get you filled and content without feeling all bloated. Since my trips to S.B. are on my Motorcycle, that is a plus.
Ever had a cramp or feel bloated on a stiffly sprung Italian motorcycle? I have...it's not so good.

I recommend the french toast, the eggs Benedict...also available Florentine. And just about anything with bacon. Their bacon is way good....way good. The staff has always been very friendly. And so are the locals. I usually end up in a 20 minute conversation with some older gent about motorcycles or something. And I don't seem to mind it at all.

We were staying in Santa Barbara and didn't want to go to some tourist trap off of State Street. The Summerland Beach Cafe fit the bill.

About five minutes south of the State Street entrance to 101, the Summerland Beach Cafe was easy and convenient to get to. We got there at 10:00 on a Sunday morning, and we had no problem being seated.

The food was good to boot. I got the french toast, which was awesome. Much to my dismay, however, it came with a plate of fruit. Much too healthy for my liking.

Good times, good food. Free wireless internet, if it so pleases you.
