We just went for appies and drinks. We were seated fairly quickly but waited 10 minutes to even be noticed by a server. We went to the bar ourselves for our drinks. Their selection was limited and some items not served after 6:00 but it wasn't indicated on the menu. We ended up just ordering onion rings, they were okay. The view of the lake was great. That's all I can say!

The outdoor dining areas are great - just be careful to not let half your plate blow in to the Lake (can get windy!)
Service was pretty good - parking is weird and unintuitive but if you found this place you probably know where to park. Â Gorgeous views of the water!
We thought we would try Sunset Bar again since we hadnt been there in a few years. We went on a Sat night first weekend in July, We arrived about 6, had to seat ourselves.We sat out on the deck on the picnic tables, it wasn"t overly busy... only one other couple on the deck. When the waitress arrived about 10 minutes later we were told if we wanted to order food it would be a 2 hour wait. Needless to say we left.

I live on the lake and I'm not overly impressed with lake views. Â But, something about this spot felt very relaxed, vacation-like, and pleasant. Â Since my favorite fish fry place went downhill over a year ago, I've been looking for a replacement. Â The fried fish, French fries, and coleslaw meal was reasonably priced and pretty darn tasty. Â
My daughter had the fish tacos and a side salad. Â She could only eat one taco-- they were huge. Â My hubby and his golfing buddy have gone there since on a weekend evening. Â They reported that the lazy atmosphere was gone, but that there was a fun, upbeat vibe they enjoyed. Â He also tried the fried fish and said that it was overly breaded, but good. Â
Young or old, if you want a rustic, mellow place to have lunch on a warm, summer day... this is definitely worth the trip.
First, this place is NOT on 2nd street per GPS. It's off of Prospect. If you come down 2nd street from downtown Fairport Harbor, take a left on Prospect at the stop sign, then right at the bottom of the street. This will take you down to the docks and the grill. That said, this place is a great find. I was in the area on business, so I don't know what the place used to be like. But, I really liked what I found. Awesome deck and the food was very good. Perfect spot on a sunny day like the day I visited.
Review Source:If you've ever been to this bar before, it's nothing like you remember. Â Under new ownership, Sunset Harbor Bar and Grill is now a great place to grab a drink or five, have a good meal, and check out some amazing lake views.
Both the inside and the outside of Sunset Harbor Bar and Grille have been renovated. Â I think the bathrooms are nicer than the one in my house. Â There's a great brand new outdoor bar, plenty of picnic tables to sit on, and a rooftop deck is under construction. Â They have a DJ on Saturdays and Sundays if you want to get your groove on, and they plan on having live entertainment (bands) throughout the summer.
The menu features standard American fare - everything from wings to crab cakes to burgers, and everything in between. Â But there are a few vegetarian options, too. Â
This place is really a hidden gem with some incredible lake views. Â If you're looking for a place to hang out, relax, and have a nice meal or a couple drinks while watching the lake, definitely give this place a try.
Let's be real, here. If you're coming to this little beach bar, it's most likely not for the food. My guess is that it's a beautiful day out and you're craving some sunny, lake ambiance.
We came here for lunch on a sunny Sunday afternoon--definitely the first ones there, and it showed. We waiting inside, ringing the bell for service and waiting quite a long time in what seemed like an abandoned bar. Finally, a bartender walked out and helped us, although he seemed a little annoyed. Once seated, the bartender brought us menus and took drink orders. It wasn't until 15 mins later that a waitress finally showed up to help us. She also had to pick up all the old glassware from the night before, left by the staff.
The layered deck is a gorgeous spot to watch the water and catch warm breezes off the lake.If you're going to eat here, you're better off going the fried fish route, FYI. It's a grill sort of spot, so lots of sandies, and fried stuff galore. The fish sandwich was good and the sweet potato fries were battered deliciousness I'd say overall, the food is a two star, but the lake location give it a +1.
I'm not here to complain about the food, because I know it's not trying to be a 5 star restaurant. But, if you're looking for some drinks on a patio right on the beach--get your Sunset on.
