I was craving some flame broiler or yoshinoya.. anything teriyaki flavored and found this place. It's kind of a little hole-in-the-wall, but don't be fooled by appearances.. because this place is as good as it gets! I ordered a beef and veggie bowl with brown rice, and for my son and significant other a chicken bowl.
The beef was tender and juicy, the flavor was sweet and succulent, and the portions were hefty... needless to say, it totally hit the spot. I haven't tried their sushi but I noticed as I was waiting for the food, many of the customers that came in, ordered the handrolls.. so it must not be too bad. So happy to have found this little diamond in the rough.. I just wish they would have something like this near by.. Til next time SBE... I'll be back!!
I was craving for some teriyaki and wanted to try a new teriyaki place. This joint was a little store by the beach. It didn't have a lot of seating but why sit there when you can grab some food and get a beautiful view of the beach instead? Their chicken teriyaki bowl was on point. They give you a lot of chicken and it has a charred taste. You might even need to order a side of rice to finish all of that chicken! I felt spicy that day so I got their spicy chicken and vegetable. Oh boy... it was on fire. Next time, I would just get a side of siracha instead. They also have a huge selection of sushi which I will try the next time I come back.
Review Source:Well,,,,on the yelps rating went in to get 2 dinners to take home, have to admit the food was  just so so... Chicken was as if was made at noon and heated and sauce added for dinner... Half was fresh and half was very dry...good steamed veggies,,,,now the beef,it was dry although tender, taste like beef jerky? The owner was nice ,but very quiet, very little conversation...?

Â It's most popular dish is the beef or chicken teriyaki bowl (~$7) (we liked the chicken more than the beef). Â It also had sushi and udon. They have a small area inside to eat at a counter top. I ordered the short rib over rice w a side of salad (~$11). It was good, but I don't know if I was in the mood for it. I liked the teriyaki bowl better. Â Salad was iceberg w a white dressing. Â Egg roll was a spring roll ($1). Owners were nice.
Review Source:Cheap, delicious and clearly a local favorite. I'm not from the area but luckily Yelp saved me and 6 other friends' hungry tummies. Pleasantly surprised with how clean the location was (the street view is not too pleasant).
Also, when I got directions from my Android using GoogleMaps to this address, the location isn't correct. Just keep an eye out because we passed it -- twice!
I ate here all through high school and I grew up to be 6'5" and strong as an ox. Thanks Super Bowl for giving me the fuel that I need to go out into the world and take the bull by the horns!
The value and quality of the food here is really all time! I am glad this place is in our little town and I hope it never goes away!
Was driving through San Clemente looking for a quick dinner and I found this very small Mom & Pop restaurant serving Teriyaki dishes and sushi. Â You can sit inside at a 10-seat counter behind the front window or at couple tables in front of the window. Â Service was quick, friendly and efficient. Â I ordered a $5 chicken teriyaki bowl and a drink.
I was pleasantly surprised because it was really good! Â The chicken was perfectly grilled with a dark carmelization and served with hot & moist white rice. Â The teriyaki sauce they use is not too sweet, it's rather mellow & hearty. Â They ask you if you want green onions and more teriyaki sauce. Â Green onion: YES! Â More teriyaki sauce: Â NO, you don't need it. Â If you like a lot of sauce, get it on the side... trust me. Â The only complaint I have is that I didn't have enough rice. Â They are so generous with the chicken, I wanted more rice! Â People will probably try to compare Super Bowl Express with the Asian-food pretenders like Sushi Boy or Flame Broiler. Â Super Bowl Express so much better than those tasteless franchise offerings.
San Clemente is very lucky to have this fresh, non-franchised restaurant serving great tasting food at a very decent price. Â If I'm ever in the area again, I going for the short-rib platter and some sushi!
I am loving this place. Â I wanted cheap quick sushi close to home and stumbled on this place.
The sushi was just ok...but their bowls with veggies and rice...YUM! Â I had the short ribs tonight and the flavor was just unbelievable. Â The portions are huge and the service is sooooo kind.
I am totally a fan. Â So thankful I can get such an array of Asian food that is cheap, just steps from the beach.

Where fresh sushi meets cheap and it's a match made in heaven.
Just a little counter in this mostly take-out San Clemente hole-in-the-wall asian eatery. So, drive over to the beach and have dinner with a view.
Sushi, shortribs, chicken/beef bowls and vegetarian all share a home - and all are quite good.
Brown rice on request. I recommend the spicy chicken bowl with vegetables - split it unless you are really hungry.
