I stayed fairly close to this spot during my stay in the area and I appreciated the place. Â It is quite confusing when it comes to how you go in - there are two ways and they're both confusing. Â The seating is not bad - we sat on the bar and dining side away from the poke bar. Â The area my girl and I sat at had a fantastic view of the pier and the setting sun. Â
The menu's quite interesting - I would say that most of the pictures pconfuse you into posted up on yelp confuse you into thinking there is a wide selection of sushi and rolls. Â Quite the contrary. Â It's much more of a Hawaiian based menu - during our visit, the sushi case was empty. Â You can say it's American, but to me it's more Island fusion. Â
My girl liked her bloody mary which was on happy hour for $5. Â I opted for Hop Juice IPA instead of the Longboard, which would have been more fitting for a Hawaiian style restaurant. Â We were saving our appetite for Fisherman's across the street so we only ordered the ribeye sliders. Â The sliders came out with great presentation and extra greens on the side. Â Although they could have beefed up the serving of ribeye slices in the sliders, they were flavorful and reminded me of my kbbq bulgogi sliders with hawaiian bread I used to make when I was a kiddo. Â Our libations and appetizer were great with no complaint and the scene here was a notch better. Â Hence, my five stars.
Stay thirsty my friends. 8)
Don't order sushi when it is busy. Went for dinner ordered three sushi rolls and a round of drinks. Took 45 minutes to get the first two rolls then another hour to get another roll. Was going to give 1star but they offered us a free round of drinks. Sushi quality is pretty good but a 2.5 hour dinner is not worth it. Also noticed we were not the only table complaining about the wait. Hope they can fix this problem cause it is a nice place with a great location.
