Pier Shack & Grill

the scenery is beautiful on the pier unless you look down at your food. You cant blame a place like this for being overpriced due to its tourist location and I'm not looking for 5 star faire here but holy mackerel, The guy who took our order did not even look up from counting money. ZERO eye contact and was the rudest cashier my wife and I ever experienced. .  he should stay in the back behind the grill.    Dont even think about substituting chips for fries.   He will get mad.  The burritos suck.   I cant believe what a waste of money this place is.  Food barely good enough for the seagulls.

I went here with the family and ordered the fish and chips and chicken fingers. The fried fish was so bad we eat about half of one of the three breaded fish before we threw it away. The chicken fingers were so over fried that it was like biting into a rock.
    We did catch them on a really busy weekend Ocean Festival but still it was bad and we're never going back.

In general I avoid all pier dining establishments because they are usually enormous rip-offs, but the shack is different ... although, not a great a bargain, it's totally reasonable for being able to dine at such a beautiful place.

The clam chowder is divine, very creamy and generous on the clams. The fish n' chips were weak though, judging by the all-too-perfect shaped fish pieces, I believe it was previously cooked and frozen, like Van De Kamps. Major turn off, considering that it can't be difficult to get fresh seafood when your restaurant is on the pier. But for $7, the portion was huge and the experience of eating on the pier on a sunny day - well, you can't beat that.

I'm glad there's a lower cost casual alternative to those expensive places at other end of the pier. Overall, not at all bad, very ok.
