My go to sports watching place. Â It has always been a great hangout and they air sporting events that a lot of other bars in the area don't. Â
The food is good but the atmosphere / people are what keeps me coming back for the last few years. Â During the summer months the patio is really nice also.
I came to this place with my dad, looking to watch the Huskies game and have a few snacks.
When I walked in, there was no one to greet or guide me. The place was crowded and I wasn't sure where to sit because the distinction between the bar and the restaurant was not at all clear. On that note, there is only a short railing between the 21+ area and the family area. The separation seems arbitrary, focused on a pedantic application of the law.
In any case, the service was quick and the nachos we ordered were large. The waiter was friendly, too.
I really enjoyed watching the game here. The atmosphere is enthusiastic because there are plenty of other sports fans around. When the Huskies scored people cheered loudly.
Unfortunately, we had to leave around 9:45, in the middle of the 4th quarter, because they're 21+ late at night. I would come back again for a day game, but not in the evening.
The Swinging Doors, is a whimsical place and the building, food, and clientele are the reasons why.
If you filled a hobbit's house full of electronics from best buy... You would have a similar interior to that of The Swinging Doors. Inside the dining area they have a plethora of flat screens along with heavy wooden beams and a oversized fireplace mantle.
But beware, my fellow hobbits of the shire. The clientele seems to consist of elderly couples, trolls, and all of the guys who beat the living daylights out of you in high school.
Consider this your opportunity to forget all your differences, and bond over a plate of extra long cheese sticks and crispy jo-jo's.
One of the many sports bars in Spokane, this one is an established icon on the cornder of Monroe and Francis. Â This place gets pretty packed on game days, doesn't matter what kind of sport you want to watch, they'll have it on. They have about 50 flat screens and a giant projector wall. Some game days, you can even 'reserve' a table. You can even bring your kids in until 8PM (don't quote me)The waitstaff and bartenders are pretty attentive. Â They have your usual stuff on tap. It has a lot or regulars. Â Their food, only thing I really like there if I'm "feeling" my drinks is the mozzarella sticks-it'll get you right back on track. Â Not my favorite barin town, but then again, it is a sports bar.
Review Source:This is a great sports bar. Came in on Friday morning (day after TG) to watch the Red Wings/Bruins game. They changed a TV to the game for us and from where we sat, we could easily see 3 college FB games and ours. They gave us a speaker tower for our table so we could hear the commentary from the Wings game. Had breakfast (decent) and great hot wings (unbreaded!). Now if I could figure out how to transplant this place to San Diego....
Review Source:The food is horrible and overpriced. I went her to watch a WSU game and ordered some nachos to share with the table, I was shocked when I got the check and they were $15.99! My fault for not checking first but seems a little steep for some meat product shredded cheese and sour cream.
There's a lot of better places in town that offer the same number of TV's and better food deals. I won't be back.
Wow, this place has some of the best chicken fried steak I've ever had! Obviously this joint is no hidden secret, and it's obvious why. Decent prices, HUGE portions, and good greasy spoon food. It's a sports bar type place, but we went for brunch. The chicken fried steak was huge and delicious, better than most bfast/brunch joints, and 100x better than the crap you get at chains. The gravy was thick and contained liberal amounts of meat. My eggs were cooked over medium rather than over easy, but not that big of a deal. It wasn't a problem for them to pull 4 tables together for our large group (maybe 20 of us). Â I don't make it to Eastern WA often by any measure, so I wish this place was in my hood!
Review Source:I HAD A BURGER THAT JUST NOT GOOD. IT WAS A "BURGER OF THE DAY/WEEK". NO DESCRIPTION OF WHAT IT WAS SO IT WAS A SURPRISE BURGER. IT WAS SOGGY & UNDERCOOKED.
BUT TO BE FAIR, THE LAST TIME I WAS THERE I HAD REALLY GOOD CHICKEN FRIED STEAK. MMMmmm.
If you choose to go there know what you are ordering & Â never get any burger of the week or anything of the week. I think they just used left overs from last week on it.
GROSS!!!!
I will say it was nice the waitress replaced my burger so I left a tip on top of what my Mom left.
AND FOR THOSE OF YOU PEOPLE MAKING RUDE COMMENTS ABOUT OVER WEIGHT PEOPLE, BE CAREFUL, SOME DAY KARMA WILL GET YOU BACK & MAKE YOU FAT. THEN THE YOUNGER PEOPLE WILL BE MAKING FUN OF YOU. LOL.
Haven't spent a lot of time there in the evenings, but it's one of my favorite places to grab a breakfast on a hangover morning.
The Eggs Benedict is top-notch and the staff are always super friendly. I had a mediocre experience on one occasion with an inattentive server who seemed more concerned with texting on his cellphone than bringing us our food, coffee and eventually the check, but I wrote it off as a guy having one of those days.
On a side note: I haven't noticed an inordinate amount of fat people bloating up the establishment as the other guy stated, but LOL @ that being an issue for anyone. I could see regulars putting on a few pounds, but I have to say a sports bar is the last place I'd expect to find a healthy menu. I go to Taco Bell for that.
A true sports bar, even if you have some young'uns in your group. By far the best place to go in Spokane for mozzarella sticks.
If you are a U of Montana Griz fan, this is the place to be for any game you can't make it back to Missoula to attend. Get there early, or call a head several days to ensure a good seat for the game though. Griz fans who take their football seriously have to look no further!
Not only are the drinks great, the food is fantastic too. Â This is bar food at its finest. The pizza sandwiches are amazing--I seriously dream about them at night. Â The French dip is awesome and so is the broasted chicken, but the pizza sandwiches are perfection!
The only reason I can't give five stars is because the staff seriously messed up a reservation that my office made for a going away party. Â We reserved a table for 12, but when we arrived (on time!) they had forgotten to put the "reserved" sign on the table and the place was packed.
Word to the wise: DO NOT attempt to come here 15 or 30 min before the beginning of a Cougs game or a UFC fight. You need to reserve way in advance and call them the day of to confirm!
I went on a fight night and enjoyed myself. There are at least 20 beers on tap, several of which I love and wish they had a sampler so I could have them all! I did not order any food but my comrades did... several times actually and they gave it two thumbs up. It's a little pricey but worth it. We got there a couple of hours early and good thing because all the tables were reserved so CALL AHEAD! There is a TV in every corner and my favorite bar game.... SHUFFLEBOARD! Check it out if you are a sports enthusiast.
Review Source:First and foremost, this place is an excellent supporter of the Crimson and Gray. GO COUGS! The food here is outstanding, but don't mistake it for healthy. Wonderful burgers and great atmosphere. It has more than 60 TV's, darts, pool tables and more. Lots of beers on tap and a fair wine list. Sorry smokers, but it's even better now that it's not continually engulfed in a smokey haze. Fun atmosphere, especially on game day.
