Excellent, attentive and friendly service. Â Great Mexican food. Â Lots of tasty salsa choices. Â And! Â Very reasonably priced! Â The only fault I could find is the chips presented before we ordered are pretty ordinary. Â But that's fine with me because it leaves more room for their large portions!
Review Source:This is our favorite Mexican restaurant in the Belvidere/Rockford area. We actually drive from South West Rockford to eat here. I always get the "combination plate" It has 2 enchiladas, 1 taco, and 1 tamale with either beef, chicken or pork fillings. I like the ground beef soft shell taco, pork tamale, and the beef enchiladas. My partner gets the chicken fajitas which are also delicious. The service is great, whether they are busy or not. This is one of the few Mexican restaurants that I know of that serve breakfast. I've never had it, so I won't comment on that. If you want Mexican that is seasoned perfectly, this is the place to be. It's a little on the divey side, but the best food usually comes from those places.
Review Source:I'm not sure why this place doesn't have Sunday hours listed, as my wife and I definitely ate here this past Sunday. (And it was a good thing, because it seems like most of downtown Belvidere is closed on Sundays.)
The extremely friendly owner or manager sat us immediately and had drinks ordered and to our table in less than a minute, no exaggeration. Â The salsa and chips were good, my steak burrito had a great flavor, but was a bit greasy. Â My wife reported similar conditions affecting her chicken enchiladas.
The place was almost completely full, which may attest to the quality of their food, or just to the fact that it seemed to be one of the only places in the area open on a Sunday afternoon. Â Either way, I wouldn't hesitate to return if I were in the area.
I haven't had better Mexican anywhere in Illinois than here. Always prompt to seat you, and always bring out chips, salsa, and pico de gallo--all home made and fresh. I especially love their carne asada tacos, and al pastor gorditas, but they only have those on Saturday and one other day of the week. Oh, and I don't think I've ever had better guacamole. About the only downside about this place is cerveza is not served here.
Review Source:This has become my favorite place for Mexican food in the Belvidere/Rockford area. Â They start you off with chips and 4 different salsas, my favorite is the hot one in the red squirt bottle. Â We always get the fresh guacamole too, which is 2nd only to Chipotle's in my opinion.
They have a big menu of authentic Mexican dishes, but I usually stick to the enchiladas. Â The ground beef has great flavor. Â On top of that, we have never had issues with the service, very friendly and I don't think they have ever messed up an order. Â The owner usually even stops by the table to check in and bring a drink refill if needed.
While passing through town one Sunday morning, we stopped in to avoid starvation. Â
We did not expect much from a taqueria in the middle of nowhere, but were pleasantly surprised by our experience at here. Â We were promptly greeted and served chips with some tasty salsa. Â
My husband ordered huevos rancheros and I had a veggie burrito. Â Both were pretty decent, although my burrito would have been without any flavor if I hadn't doused it in their salsa. Â
Not a bad option for refueling off Business 20..
First of all I want to say that I'm real biased in my opinion here. There's a lot of nostalgia in that place for me. However, the food here is real good. You can get lunga and tripa along with all the other better known dishes. The service is simple but direct and the rice shakes are tasty- I love the spices sprinkled on top. The prices are amazing and everything is made there (although I can't guarantee the chips are made there, but they are usually warm).
