If this is a taste of Asia then Asia is pretty bad. Â Worst service I've ever encountered at a restaurant. Â Orders and drinks were incorrect and the waitress acted like it was out fault. Â The head waitress was apparently overly inconvenienced by a person having food allergies in our group. I will not be going here again and ill strongly advise anyone to eat elsewhere
Review Source:If this is the taste of Asia, then Asia tastes like disappointment. My family came for dinner- there were 12 of us in the party and they didn't even try to accommodate us. It was early for dinner and they could have split us up but instead they spread us out so that 4 of us were behind the hibachi chef and couldn't see anything. One waitress was one of the most rude people I have ever encountered in food service. She was blatantly annoyed by the most simple request and did a terrible job communicating with the rest of the staff who consistently gave the wrong food and drinks to the wrong people. Secondly, I am gluten free and so opted for sushi. I'm new to this diet and didn't think to mention it because I ordered simple rolls I routinely eat at other restaurants. They brought it to me covered in eel sauce, which I can't eat. I quietly went to the sushi bar to inquire about getting the rolls remade and they told me to talk to our waitress. She was personally put out by this like she had written and crafted the menu herself. She said, "you didn't mention this before so what do you want us to do about it?" I said, "well the menu didn't mention that the rolls had eel sauce, SO I would like this to be remade without the sauce." Her response was that it would be about 10 minutes but they could redo it. Obviously I'm the first person on the planet to have this problem but I'm so glad she had a flippin solution for me. Very rude service and less than mediocre sushi once I finally ate it. Also the hibachi chef wasn't very efficient and everyone's food was cold by the time they had the veggies rice and meat on the plates.
Review Source:Horrible...we have been coming here for almost two years n until the past few months we would have gladly agreed with these other reviews. We can't speak for the hibachi side but the restaurant has gone downhill. Today was the last straw we won't go back. First off when I received my egg roll it appeared nicely toasted couldn't wait to dig in, took one bite only to discover it was cold inside??? Then came my wonton soup I examined this time to find some brown web like hairy things floating all in the soup. I've been eating the same thing for years and never have I seen such a thing. Main course came, chicken was hard as a rock, rice bad, and it seemed like there was new colder broccoli mixed in with old, cooked broccoli. Â Not to mention the staff seemed too interested in joking than even trying to give good service. We used to say well maybe we came on a bad night but they prove us wrong every time now. Good luck to anyone who dares.
Review Source:This place is an oasis of excellence, serving very capably-prepared Asian food including Thai, Japanese hibachi, and Chinese. An overwhelming menu, and a beautiful interior.
This place is of such a caliber to be considered excellent in a much larger city.
WARNING: Google Maps and/or Yelp pull up very very wrong coordinates. Instead, search for "holiday inn hurricane ky." A Taste of Asia is almost directly across the street in the Liberty Square shopping center.
You wouldn't expect good Asian food in Teay's Valley, WV but I promise you it is good! The menu is part Chinese, part Thai, part Japanese. They have a sushi bar (we didn't try it but I heard it as good) and Asian beers to keep everyone happy. They also have a hibachi grill that was packed. Actually, the whole place was packed. Half the servers are Asian and it looked like most of the kitchen staff was Asian which is always good to see.
So if you're staying overnight in Hurricane/Teay's Valley, don't go to Applebee's (all I can say is that it's an expensive McDonald's) but instead check out Taste of Asia for a good meal!
