Any restaurant gets good marks when I can't make up my mind for dinner. The Tavern offered a wide variety of menu items that looked great. I settled on La Salmon Poche (poached salmon) with veggies in a light lemon sauce. Well done!  Others in my party enjoyed the homemade sausage and choc-coffee ribs.  Appetizers could have been dinner (esp. the bacon-wrapped scallops).  Overall a great dinner venue. Staff was engaging and helpful.  Beer options were more limited than anticipated, but drafts worked with our meal.  Atmosphere was jovial, but quiet enough for table conversations.

Pleasant atmosphere, good food, reasonable prices, friendly staff. It was open mic night when we were there and we wished we had come a bit later. They were setting up to play live music as we were finishing our meal and getting ready to leave. Next time we will go a little later so we can here some live music!

I came here for dinner with co-workers on a Monday night. We had a little hard time finding it since its in the basement of another store front.

We asked the waitress what dish she would recommend if we were never coming back and she told us absolutely the lobster risotto.

I ordered the lobster risotto and the Caesar salad. I was blown away by the salad. I need to come back here just for this! I never had lobster risotto before, or any type of risotto for that matter so I wasn't sure what to expect. I liked it a lot, but didn't love it. It was very cheesy, I felt like it was like mac and cheese with harder noodles. It was good but I don't think I would get it again. I am glad I tried it though.

They were super attentive and we had out water glasses filled every 5 minutes. I ordered a cheese cake for dinner and that was pretty good.

I am subtracting a star for the end of the night service. It took over 45 minutes to get our checks back. Apparently there was a problem with the credit card machine and they didn't tell us until a half hour of trying. Then it took them another 15 minutes to fix it after that.

I would like to come back for the salad when I am here again.

Waitress had a big attitude problem. Forgot pretty much everything we ordered and not an apology to be found.

I came on here to write a review about the delicious nachos I had last night and was shocked to see that someone said they were mediocre.  They're definitely the best nachos I've ever had.  Loaded with chicken and other toppings and the chips themselves were absolutely delicious.  The atmosphere was great, the staff was fast, attentive and friendly and the drinks were strong.  I'll definitely be back!

The atmosphere and friendly servers were enjoyable at the restaurant.  However, I was let down by the mediocre food and slow service.  At the prices they were charging, I expected much better quality of food.

I wouldn't go back for dinner, but I might go back for a beer because of the nice atmosphere.

Not impressive. The waitstaff was mediocre. The nachos were mediocre. The bathroom was corpse-smelling.
The entire waitstaff, cook, etc. were all hanging around the stairwell and looking "hipster"- super annoying. And please don't swear. and also, don't cough everywhere- if you are sick stay home. I just found it to be a mediocre experience.
The prices are waaay too high. but the worst part was the badly poured Guiness.

My husband and I had a perfect experience at this restaurant tonight.  Our server was just lovely, and the food was outstanding.  The Caprese and the Prime Rib were the best we have ever had, and the Caesar was clearly in the running as well.  We plan to begin dining here on a regular basis.

What up!? This is Kacmar 20 yelping live- holla! Sitting in the bar with Roche25 who is about to whistle because our waiter would rather do anything to avoid asking me if I'd like desert. The food was ok. However, the cocktails are pretty good.

We had a wonderful evening at the Tavern at Rivers Edge in Exeter. The owner and his staff took wonderful care of us and the food was outstanding. They have awesome tavern flour nachos (loaded) appetizer that we all shared, and the main course was simply delicious. I had the Prince Edward Island Mussels that was prepared in a buttery cream sauce with chorizo, leeks, shallots and tomatoes. My wife had the blue salad, and she absolutely loved it.  We shared an enormous helping of Tiramisu, which was one of the best that I have ever had. The extra sauce made it excellent! The next time we are in Exeter, we will definitely stop by this wonderful establishment.

Two words: not impressed.  Wine list was weak, but so goes the East Coast.  Cocktails were good, but the food was over presented and over priced.  Undecided and unwilling to take a big risk, I ended up with a house salad with chicken.  I'm pretty sure the chicken was pre-cooked and then microwaved.  This establishment has potential, but needs more work.

Good local spot for a beer and a bite to eat. Warm spot to go on a cold day. Good meeting spot, friendly service.
