3 stars means A-OK. The rodeo venue is a nice western venue and the restaurant looks awesome, but I have to drop off two stars for the food/price. Lunch today: 2steaks, one glass of wine and one water, plus tip = 70 bucks. Ouch. They need a lunch menu. I would guess the steaks are select quality, or the steak knives are dull.
Review Source:Sorry to say I re-visited after almost a year and the previous fantastic experience withered to 'meh'. Â Nothing special here anymore. Â
Can you make an angus burger at a steakhouse taste dry? Â yep. Add a stale bun and you've got twice the nice.
Maybe caught them on a bad day, but they're pricey and way out of the way, so NO day should be a bad day.
I've live incredibly close to this place and finally had the chance to stop by. I was pleasantly surprised. I went on a Thursday, so it wasn't as busy as I have seen it before, so the service was great and they had live music to go along with it. The prices are around the same price range as a comparable steakhouse, so I'd say they were fair. My steak was cooked exactly right, as was everyone else's in my party.
Review Source:Easily one of my favorite steakhouses in San Antonio. Great service. Better food. Great sides. And you're right next to the Rodeo, so if you go while it's Rodeo season, you can see the rodeo too (costs a little extra, but well worth it). Definitely going back multiple times.
Make sure to call and see if you need a reservation. Especially rodeo nights.
0 stars, we are new to the area and this is close by so we decided to have dinner and check it out.. we werent really sure what to expect but i guess we were expecting more than what we saw. Place is very unkept, a empty beer bottle in the parking lot. we walked around before going into the restaurant and it was pretty rundown.. we arrived shortly after opening and there was a couple with their kids already seated and then who i assume was the checf and the manager or owner sitting at the bar, both looked up and made eye contact with my wife and that was it. They didnt say a word no mention of welcome take a seat, even though it says wait to be seated. The chef went in the back wile the other person stayed at the bar in front of their laptop. We both stood there waiting i walked to one side while she was on the other side and still nothing. I was looking forward to eating there but i dont think we will even go back due to the lack of care by those at the front of house of potential repeat customers that live very close by, the whole idea of eating and watching practice or actual events was intriguing especially being from the NW. Sorry Tejas we wont be back  we will go willie's ice house or obriens which are further away from your place of business.
Review Source:Pro: The best Ribeye I ever had. How do I know that? I didn't use any steak sauce  because it was flavorful. It was SOOOO good.
Cons: Space can be limited if you want to sit outside. Tip: Have one of your friends get here before the last event at the rodeo. The service can be slow, our waitress who is very lovely, didn't bring out the water for almost 10 mins. But it wasn't a problem for us at all, it was a nice night to enjoy the music from Dance Hall and people watching.
The dinner price is expensive, $32 for the ribeye, and another 7 for two beers. Would I do it again? You bet ya! I can still taste the juicy steak right now. Yuuuuummmmm
Arrived early on a Friday evening. This place is definitely off the beaten path. Atmosphere was great. Service was very good. After drinks they brought out cheesy biscuits. I thought they were a bit too gummy inside. I couldn't tell if they were under-cooked or just had a lot of melted cheese inside. Personal preference - pass for me. I ordered the KC tenderloins, medium well with mixed veggies and baked potato. The steak was flavored well. Some of the tenderloins were over cooked to the point of well done, others were cooked perfect. Not consistent. Veggies were definitely overcooked and soggy. Baked potato was good. My wife ordered the chicken fried steak, mixed veggies and baked potato. Chicken fried steak had way too much breading and had soaked up a lot of grease. It had brown gravy on it. Our preference is white cream gravy but the brown was Ok, just nothing spectacular. Her veggies were also soggy and potato was good. Overall a decent experience and they are close to home so we will be back. There are several other dishes to try yet, but will pass on the chicken fried steak.
Review Source:Texas friendly service at it's best. We went to Tejas Steakhouse and Saloon on a Saturday afternoon. The staff was very friendly.
I ordered the Cowboy ribeye steak which is a bone-in ribeye cut steak. It was one of the best steaks I have ever had. My wife was laughing at me because I was gnawing on the bone after all the meat was gone. It was that good.
Went with dinner group...host had made reservation for 10 and called on Thursday to increase to 15 and they had no record of it...food was ok. Service was good, especially for a large group. Steak was good, sweet potato was Luke warm and my sweetie pie said his corn on the cob was soggy;he did like his steak. Not sure I will go back although looks like a great place to go for outside dancing and rodeo.
Review Source:I came to the Tejas Steakhouse with relatively low expectations but was very pleasantly surprised. It's tucked more or less in the middle of nowhere adjacent to the Tejas Rodeo. Â Our group enjoyed the good, service and experience of the place. Â I really wanted to give this a 4.5-star review, but since that's not available, I'll stick with four stars.
The interior feels like it should--it's actually located in a corrugated steel building, but it's amazing how a little wood siding, cowboy paraphernalia and  old rodeo photos will warm up a building.  The service was great and friendly.
The food was very good. Â The meal starts with delicious cheesy biscuits. Â We also ordered the Pan de Tejas, a flatbread pizza, that was excellent. Â For dinner our party of four ordered the KC Style Tenderloin, a family-style plate of chunks of beef. It was more then plentiful for four people--the plate was very generous. Â
The rest of my party gave the steak a big thumbs up; Â I must be a little more picky because I thought it was quite good but I didn't feel as strongly as the rest of my party. Â That's why this is a four-star and not a five-star review. Â The steak was well seasoned and prepared, but I've had much better cuts of beef. Â (Maybe I'm too tough a grader--the steak was very good and for $58 for a party of four, it's a deal.)
Plan a trip up to Bulverde and make reservations early enough at the Steakhouse to catch the Tejas Rodeo. It'll be a fine Texas experience!
I. love. this. place.
I came on a Friday night with a group. We made our reservation a day ahead of time and everything ran smoothly once we got there. They don't seat you unless your entire party is there (they say although they were extremely accommodating to my group even though I was a few minutes late they went ahead and seated us!) so be forewarned of that policy and meet your friends on time!
Sit down and notice how "Texas" this space is. The walls are decorated with everything from longhorns to saddles to rifles. The giant fireplace is surely going to be prime seating if the weather ever cools off. It just is everything I love about this great state in one amazing venue. If you live in San Antonio, the drive out to Specht Rd is quick and seamless and once you get outside the loop, very scenic.
They took a round of drink and appetizer orders and filled them promptly. The waitress was great. She was friendly and especially good with the little kids in our party. Our food was admittedly a tiny bit slow to come out, but let's be fair, the entire restaurant was completely packed! The appetizers were delicious. We sampled mushrooms and fried green tomatoes and dipped them in their incredibly tasty house-made Ranch dressing. For a restaurant that just opened, this place has really found their groove on serving their menu well.
I ordered a New York strip, but after tasting the tenderloin ordered by others at my table I really wished I had gotten that! The strip was fine. It wasn't incredible, but it wasn't bad; the tenderloin is a show stopper. Delicious steak bites that melt in your mouth and can be ordered by the number of people who want to share it family-style. If you're in the mood for red meat I would highly recommend you go this route!
Now what I found especially special about this place is the venue itself. They have a restaurant, dancehall and rodeo on site. They provide indoor and outdoor seating. The bar serves great drinks. Prices are affordable and service is exceptional (I ordered a steak, appetizer and drinks and paid $28 including tip). The owners stopped by our table more than once to make sure we were happy and our drinks were refilled promptly. If you're heading to the rodeo after dinner and have a doggie bag, the kitchen is more than happy to put your leftovers in the fridge for you until you leave. Top-notch service at its finest.
