This bar is my favorite hidden jem. Its actually underground or "downstairs" The bartenders Liz and Sean are super nice and make delicious drinks! The burgers and smoked brisket sandwiches are made on pretzel bread and taste amazing. Make sure to add relish and grilled onions if you try the smoked brisket. Also the bartender Liz is really hot .
Review Source:This place has the potential to be great. Â Too many corners have been cut for them to even have the ability to make good food. Â The "pretzel bun" is nothing more than white bread that has been baked into the form of a pretzel. Â I would also like to see the availability of draft beer. Â For now it is only bottles. Â The live entertainment is hit or miss so paying the cover charge (which didn't use to exist) is something I would prefer to not do if it turns out that the "band" is some rock star wannabe screaming into the mic and nullifying any opportunity for conversation with friends. Â I live around the corner from this place, and many times lately I thought about perhaps walking down there and grabbing a beer, but the simple fact that I would have to pay $5-10 just get through the door prevented me from doing so. Â A little less emphasis on the bands and lot more emphasis on products and service would make TF Downstairs a regular retreat for me.
Review Source:Alriiiiiiiight, they're movin' on up!!
I joined a friend to try this place and give them *yet another* chance...and this time we were quite pleased! They added burgers to the menu and offered them at half price (I'm down for a deal any day,any time!!) and figured it was a good enough excuse to go for a drink or two as well. Jordan, the new bartender, was much more attentive and obviously wanted us to enjoy our time spent there. He came up with original drinks based on what we normally liked, and both of us enjoyed the final product! The burgers were great!! The pretzel bread they were served on is going to be a new guilty pleasure of mine, and I almost wish I hadn't found out about it (not really). However, I still hate the plasticwear and tissue paper napkins...come on guys, you're almost there!!
Now for +yet another+ review of this place! Â Are they tired of me yet? Probably. Â Okay, so myself and my fellow Elite Yelper Miss Miranda J went to this place again last night for their FINAL chance with us. Â It's true, we're suckers for something "local" and due the convenience of this place, we ended up here again despite their fudge-ups in the past.
Well, truth be told we ALSO went here bc we saw on FB they were offering half priced burgers. Â A different bartender was working last night, Jordan, who was seriously fantastic. Â He made us different drinks to try, just based on what we usually drink, and didn't stop until we were satisfied! Â There is no doubt he knows what he's doing! Â LOVED my drink! Â (Thanks Jordan!)
The burgers were actually quite delicious as well! Â LOVED the pretzel bread, what a unique choice! Â The meat-to-bread-ratio was pretty spot on. { Yes. There is a ratio! } Â Anyway, loved the flava + the discount, although after trying it I would pay full price!
So, after what seems like our zillionth visit, I feel like they are finally headed in the right direction! Â I will definitely go back, but probably only on the nights Jordan works. Â {Good customer service is a DIEING thing and I'm a major fan of his specialty drinks!} Â
Umm... But for the record I still hate the plasticware and disposable plates!
Queue the music... Â Making your way in the world today, takes everything you got... Â Where everybody knows your name; And they're always glad you came...
Well if you're not a local and don't know the bartenders, then be prepared to wait and wait and wait to order a drink.   Other than the terrible service, this place was pretty cool.  Converting a church in a bar/coffee shop surely sounds like an interesting idea... well, this place was done right.  While the place is fairly small, there are plenty of seats to hang out or listen to the band.  The bar itself is also small and the counter feels oddly highly.   We went for what was the grand opening night and the crowd was pretty fun and the Olden Young Band was playing and did a great job.  The sound quality in the place was pretty good.   There is even a small dance floor directly in front of the band if you want to cut loose!  If you aren't into live music, well then you're in luck - there are several TVs that are showing  ESPN or whatever game is on.  We didn't order any food, but the plates coming out of the kitchen looked less than appealing.  Looked like freezer food if you asked me!  But again, I didn't try it, so maybe it was good...
Overall, fun (and inexpensive) night! Â I'd go back!
Great bar for Celina. I came up from Frisco with some family and friends.
Very cool concept; they did a nice job with the conversion of an old church into a bar.
Mostly getting 3 stars for 1. there now being a bar in Celina and 2. It's super inexpensive! My husband and I tabbed out for $30, my friend also tabbed out at $30 including the round of shots (5) she put on her tab ($15). Oh, the shots.....they were not shots. We ordered Lemon Drop shots. The bartender verified how we wanted them prepared (shaken vodka with ice served with a sugar coated lemon - great). Then he proceeded to pour more than a drink's worth of vodka for each "shot"! I mean, very generous and "college me" would have been STOKED, but we took them back to where we were sitting with wide eyes and sent the guys back to get us cranberry juice, ice and lemons to turn them into drinks. No way I was shooting that much well vodka.
They had the Olden Young Band playing and they did a great job - performed for 3 hours. During the band's breaks, they could have done better to play music throughout the bar but it seemed they were struggling to keep up with the "crowd". Â Getting a drink at the bar was a wait all night until the very end. There was no sense to the order; bar tender did not pay attention to who was waiting first and the other bar tender often paid more attention to running and stacking dishes than the line-up for fresh drinks at the bar.
Did not order any food, but from what I saw, I was not impressed. Looks like it came from the freezer section.
Had TVs and played the football games, even during band's performance (sound off) which was well received.
All in all, glad for the city to have a bar and I hope it continues to do well. I'd go back.
This relates to the morning coffee service only - I haven't tried the bar yet.
They've done a really cute job converting an old church basement into a coffee shop and bar.
The coffee is great - I haven't had a white mocha this good since I left Oregon :)
By my third visit, the young ladies working the counter had already learned my drink and had it started by the time I got to the counter, what a nice touch!
Also, free wifi - just ask them for the password!
So happy we have this great little business in Celina.
