Fun Bar atmosphere, cheap drinks for happy hour, great live music

We went there on St Patrick's Day, hoping that - although Green Beer Day had come and gone - something advertised as an "Irish Pub" would do *something* to celebrate the holiday.  Even something so simple as playing a CD of Irish folk music instead of "Radar Love" would have been a nice gesture... (they did seem to be trying to make up for it later in the evening by playing U2 over and over and over again).

The Guinness-cheese soup was bad.  Nightmarishly bad.  The consistency was like trying to eat Velveeta nacho dip with a spoon, except the flavor was not as good.  We made a valiant effort, but the gigantic bowls still went back to the kitchen over half full.

We were hoping for corned beef and cabbage, which was listed on the menu at <a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2Fcampusmenus.com&s=c5ee0cfa873764d573c497aa0422f6690b7765e0a3510543398f3e1012f4d8f5" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://campusmenus.com</a> but is apparently no longer served there (even on St Patrick's Day).  Fortunately, the shepherd's pie was very good, even if it was served in a receptacle that seemed to be specifically designed to pour hot gravy into people's laps as it was delivered to the table.

The service and the volume of the music made us suspect that someone was trying to get rid of us (at 10pm), although no one ever came out and said so.
