Mac & Joe's

Love this place! The food is fantastic, and the service is friendly and prompt. It's the perfect spot to get dinner, enjoy a few drinks, and spend the evening with friends. Try the burgers- they're the best in town!

You have to know to go "down the alley" to find the place - but once there - it is a bar and has that feel to it --- the FOOD --- WOW!  It's excellent and plenty of it.

This restaurant actually made me sign up to Yelp based on their inadequacy. My son goes to Miami U and Mac and Joes is a time honored institution. Mac andJoes primary customer is a student from MU.  I'm pretty sure college food tastes better when you're in college based on my experience.
Service was fine...thus the two stars. My fish sandwich was the worst I've ever had...Dried out bun, way overcooked and oven kept slivers of what may have been nice cod at some point...now just almost powdery and fishy dried meal. coating on fish was like biting into some kind of fishy based potato chip but thicker. The accompanying onion rings were the worst I've ever had...Mainly because they were coated with batter that produced a 10 to 1 batter to onion ratio.

I tried to swallow down half my meal, based on the embarrassment factor I would cause my son by complaining, but it just became too inedibly bearable. I complained nicely to the college student waitress and she said she would see what she could do. They didn't comp my meal but gave me a 50 percent discount on my meal...or $5. No problem, again the embarrassment to son overruled my taste buds and sense of right and wrong.

If you go, try the burgers or anything but the fish sandwich. I won't be going to this restaurant though.
