Swung by for lunch today (Friday) to check out the new look. Arrived at 1:30 and walked into the bar -no one there. Walked into the dining room -no one there. Walked out to the back patio and saw 2 people seated at barstools at the outdoor bar. I asked if the place was open, and having been reassured that it was, I sat at a table on the outdoor patio. The view was gorgeous, overlooking the river with ducks swimming by and quacking for effect. Â
The menu at Tim Howley's is heavy on pub food- what with wings, fried mozzarella, chicken tenders, chili, clam strips, nachos, burgers, wraps and salads. Just about everything is under $10. I wasn't too hungry, so I just had a crock of the chili - offered in a bean or beanless version for $6.95. I went for the chili with beans. It was served piping hot with a small plastic cup serving of shredded cheese and scallions. The spice level was definitely "G-Rated", and it had a very favorable meat-to-bean ratio
From the looks of their website, they are banking on a big night-time crowd. They don't even open for lunch on Monday and Tuesday, instead they open at 4:00 PM. They look like a party bar- with lve music every night, pool-tables, etc.
If this appeals to you and you live nearby, this might be a terrific choice. I don't think they have a lot of local competition. Â I also don't think they are likely to see me again.
